About Nona Snell.

Back in the late 70's I backpacked the area for a trips leadership program and never forgot the incredible water and natural beauty. I spoke about it often, and in 2009, our family came to the Lion's Head area and visited the same areas I remembered. It had not changed at all. This is a step back in time - Tobermory, The National Parks - the hiking, panoramic views and the Grotto - all the same. This house on the street we were staying with friends became available - this origianal owner of the home with one of the very first lots was offered a spot in the retirement home in town and we happened to be in the right place at the right time. It's the only place my husband says he can truely relax! We feel very blessed to be able to own a spot like this - and when we are not there - it is wonderful to share the experience with others!

Nona Snell. purchased this house in 2009

Why Nona Snell. chose Bruce Peninsula

Our family came to vacation and we fell in love with this spot at Lion's Head and the stunning location and vistas. . I came up here the first time in my early 20's leading back-packing trips for the YMCA and always wanted to come back. You can never forget the water - the color and the clarity. This is a place where you can totally unwind and get away from the routine. So much to do and see - or just sleep, enjoy the water and fresh, clean air. This is paradise for the person who appreciates and respects the beauty of unspoiled nature in the great outdoors.

What makes this house unique

The property is in the area protected as a Unesco World Biosphere. When you walk around the back of the house - it just takes your breath away. It has wonderful, healing energy here. The location is amazing and the town has whatever you need. It is a hidden treasure and a great get-away that we enjoy sharing with others. Safe and simple- to go different directions if you like and meet up again at the end of the day. So much to do and see. When you leave, you will never forget the view- and the great memories made here at the " Lion's Head Getaway".

Dream Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time on this Canada Day's long weekend in Nona's cottage. Best cottage experience ever for my family! And this is my second time stay at Nona's cottage.

The cottage is clean, organized, nicely decorated and with a breath taking panoramic view in the back! Unless you go inside you will not know how beautiful and comfortable the cottage is. Nona has a great taste in everything she has picked for the cottage.

Tobermory is half an hour's drive from there. We have spent a great time in Tobermory little tub harbor area and other beaches. Because of the long weekend it was hard to find a parking spot in Grotto and that was little disappointing for us! Hiking in Lion's Head Cliff trail was really amazing and a very popular one for tourists. We loved our stay in this cottage very much and it's worth choosing this cottage again and again! Thanks Nona for keeping the cottage so nice and letting people enjoy this dream cottage!

Epic location and charming house!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Nona's cottage. The house was roomy with a great view. It even came with a smart tv and Xbox, which proved helpful because we enjoyed an entire day of thunderstorm. The hike to Lion's Head is a must go! Absolutely stunning! Looking forward to staying again!

A paradise on the Bruce Peninsula!

  • 5 of 5

We cannot wait to return as it made us feel as though this home was our small slice of Canadian paradise. Outstanding views, a bedroom that can only be described as luxuriously appointed with great bedding , a warm fireplace and unparalleled views of the entire Lionshead coast! We also appreciated the tour information that was provided. We hiked some of the recommended hikes and were so pleased to discover these awesome vistas! The fire pit at night with all the stars and vast space was our "television". Thank you Nona and Dave for sharing your wonderful cabin home!

Owner's Response: Steve, I e-mailed the directions and ideas on what to bring twice, on 10/5 and 10/20. I also checked the day before you left to make sure you received them, and you said "YES". I take pride in helping people have a great time, and a smooth trip.It sounds like an escape to Lions Head otherwise was the relaxing getaway you wanted. It sounds like your kids had a great time. That's wonderful. Nona

Fun for everyone

  • 4 of 5

Our family agreed everyone had a very good time visiting Lion's Head and the Bruce. Elderly parents enjoyed the shops and amenities of the village plus the flat trails found in and around the village. The more adventurous adults thoroughly enjoyed the rock climbing and Bruce Trail hikes. A family day at Flower Pot Island is a must on any visitor's list. While the cottage is a bit rustic it supplied all necessities and plenty of space for all. Sun sets, star gazing, gorgeous bay vistas and steps from amazing hiking and climbing are all well worth the visit.

Lion's Head is a beautiful, scenic town with all the amenities. This property is minutes from town up the road on the escarpment overlooking the Isthmus Bay and the Georgian Bay. It is a peaceful setting - where you can pick up the Bruce Trail right out the front door of the house and take a short hike to Lion's Head lookout. This is the first thing we do - you are there in 30 minutes or less, and its an incredible view. This street offers the best location in Lion's Head. The town is central to an assortment of day trips, along with just relaxing at the house overlooking a most memorable view of Isthmus Bay., and on to Georgian Bay. Spend a day in Tobomory, take the ferry to Flowerpot Island, take a sunset sail along the National park coastline, a day at the beaches, hiking, antiquing, mountain-biking, caving, fishing, The National Parks, "The Grotto" is a must, Singing Sands Beach - there is too much to do - gather back at the house for a cook out or a dinner at The Lions Head Inn. Be back before the sunset- nowhere can beat this location and a bonfire to gather around and laugh about the days adventures. Sleep like a rock. Guaranteed - you won't want to leave - so much to see for all ages to enjoy. Come stay and enjoy a friends and family getaway. You wont want to leave!!! Let me know what you are looking to do - and I would be happy to help.
