About David and Desiree

David and Desiree grew up locally both connected to family farms and continue to raise their family and farm in Damascus. They co-own and direct several well established specialty manufacturing and related service companies associated with television, film, corporate, public spaces and museums.

We both wandered this property as teenagers not together but separately. Ironically, after marriage, we had an odd opportunity to purchase this beautiful farm which was once all cornfields as we remember back when we were kids and now lush hay fields. We still walk the land reminiscing with each other how special it was for both of us back then and now. It's a special moment as you continue through the gate and come around the corner...Its hard to describe.

We decided to purchase the property with dear friends of ours and constructed a magnificent custom passive solar timber frame home for them doing much of the work ourselves. Our friends since have moved out west giving us first option to keep the land intact but decided not to move into this home because our current home and stables are very special and hand crafted from a design done in high school.

When we travel with our four children, we always seek accommodations that are most like home and clean. We manage, care for and clean this home ourselves as a family, with care we would want and with the goal you will never forget your stay at Waterside. Many Guests say 'that our words and pictures can't explain this place' We take great pride in the hand craftsmanship, its cleanliness and presentation. In the winter...we even try to take time to welcome you a warm glow in the fireplace upon your arrival as we do in our own home after a long day on the road.

David and Desiree purchased this house in 2005

Why David and Desiree chose Poconos

Waterside is a 'one of a kind' equisite hand crafted Passive Solar Timber Frame Log Home on gated 145 prestine acres with a mile of private Delaware River Front. Most guests cant imagine it until they arrive. Many of guests often tell us, 'your words pictures DO NOT do this home justice'. One guest figured out it was like having a home all by itself in the middle of the town of Hoboken along the river.

What makes this house unique

Comfort, amazing kitchen, massive cozy fireplace, radiant heat and warm feet, endless views, seclusion, privacy, wildlife, the fish stories, paddling home, freedom...most guests have plans but never leave the front gate after check in....

Guestbook comments from the owner

I have wanted to plan a family trip with my family, in-laws, nephews and all the dogs for about 4yrs. Finally the moment came when I found the Boyce home on It accommodated everything for everyone, which as I'm sure some know is difficult to find, plus tack on having a space for all our dogs was a job in itself to seek. So when I was able to put this together and spend 7 days in a beautiful home with all that I love, it was truly a blessing and having all the memories to hold on to, will simply be something that I will stay with me forever, or at least till next year so we can continue on in our chapters of our lives! It was wonderful, breath taking, peaceful and magical in many ways! A place to me better than a dry hotel, or an over crowed anything anywhere! Family is a blessing and Nature is a gift, so enjoy and embrace both to the fullest!

Best Wishes to all that come through the doors of the Boyce Home!

Great House-Great Owners

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday-and we were blown away with the house and the property. Desiree was very welcoming and saw to our needs, and we all enjoyed the huge property and comfy accomodations. The town is close and has great food and easy essentials, but there was never a desire to leave. Plenty of room and more beautiful that even the pictures can show. Incredible fireplace! Kids loved the movies and of course the toy tractor. We will be back next year. Thanks D & D!

Amazing weekend

  • 5 of 5

This is a great vacation house for friend gathering. Eight of us decided to celebrate Chinese New Year here, and the experience is amazing. Clean, spacious bedrooms and kitchen, heater underneath the floor keep the rooms really warm. You can find everything you need for cooking in the kitchen, only need to bring food. Unbelievable large property with spectacular view, we arrived at night, so the view was kept mysterious until the first sight in the morning when waken up by sun-rise, it was breath taking. Every bedroom has large windows, through which the views are just like painting(and this is just in winter time). Plenty entertainment facilities, we loved the pingpang table. The house is pet friendly, there is a fenced area outside the house to keep pets safe and happy. Small town 15 mins drive from the house that has grocery store and nice antique stores, the drive was pleasant as well. House owners are super friendly. They go out their way to accommodate our needs, very considerate and always have prompt reply. Thank you David and Desiree for giving us such a wonderful new year celebration.

Amazing weekend!

Eight of us (4 couples) decided to spend Chinese New Year in this vacation house, and the experience was magical. The bedrooms are spacious, plenty of entertainment area and facilities, you will find everything you need for cooking in the kitchen only need to bring food. Every room has balcony and large windows, the view is spectacular. Woken up by sun rise and mountain view in the distance is magical, especially because we arrived at night so the view was kept mysterious until our first sight in the morning. Heater under the floor, even only on the first floor, second floor is kept warm too, plus plenty of quilt provided in the master bedroom closet. Unbelievable large property, the view from inside the house through each window is like one painting. It was cold outside we did not start bonfire, but there is a designated spot for it. Sky view filled with stars are magical for us who grow up in the city. We will definite comeback, maybe experience summer next time.

Fireplace Hypnosis and SNOW!

  • 5 of 5

Our post Christmas winter get away started with us arriving a day late due to work issues and teenager job schedules. The owners were understanding of our late arrival and were willing to adjust their schedule. When we finally got there Dave and Desiree greeted us with a very clean home, decorated Christmas tree, cookies, chocolates and the local newspapers. This is the third home I have rented through HomeAway and Dave and Desiree have been beyond gracious!

Waterside is a slice of heaven. We LOVED this home and the pictures really do not do it justice. It is BEAUTIFUL! Since the ground was snow covered, we had the fireplace in the family room burning the entire stay. There was more firewood already cut and stacked for us then we could burn through. I am in awe of the tables in the family room. They were made from a fallen tree on the property and are magnificent! The radiant floor heat was a treat too! The entire home is tastefully decorated with a few well placed antiques. Everything about this home is first class. I enjoyed cooking in that awesome kitchen and being able to look out the wall of windows to see the Delaware River slushed with ice. The comments about staying in place are accurate; once you are there, you don't really want to leave.

Desiree provided nice quality bed linens, towels and all beds were made when we arrived. Callicoon NY is just across the river, about a 5 mile drive. This town looks as if it is preserved in time. Small antique, thrift and pizza shops, plenty of "Spirits" or taverns to visit, a single screen movie theater and Peck's Grocery has everything you could possibly need. The staff at the Devine Cafe are friendly and it is a great place to access wifi while enjoying some hot spiced apple cider.

Reading the guest book was fun! Since we were here during the winter, it was nice to hear how others enjoyed the summer months. Deer and hawks were plenty during our visit. Others mentioned listening to coyotes at night and excellent fishing. One couple used the property for an outdoor wedding. Many families had visited several times. We want to go back!

Don't miss this place!
