About the owner: Ben's grandfather, Herman Sweetser had a farm in Cumberland Center, down the Tuttle Road from the cottage. His family still runs an orchard there. The cottage was built by his Great Aunt Harriet as a carraige house just before the depression years. The houses on either side were never built. It leaves this cottage as the only real summer house On the largest wooded lot in the Wildwood association.
Why the Owner Chose Cumberland Foreside, Cumberland, ME, USA:
This is an old enclave of family houses devoted to quiet living, a shared park and a beautiful beach. The beach is amazingly private and the cottage is one of the last of its kind. Ben's parents added on the big Livingroom in the 70's, building in the exposed wall style of the original carriage house. Then, in 2012, Ben and Joan upgraded the bathroom, laundry and Fireplaces, insulating just enough to make the place 3-season cozy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Besides the beach and tennis court, the access to Falmouth, Yarmouth and Portland offer easy convenience and access to island and inland explores from a quiet and safe retreat.
