Beautiful Duplex at the Dunes in Fort Morgan

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,750 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms , 3 Baths, (Sleeps 7-9)

This home, known as Dune Bug, is a professionally decorated duplex nestled in the Dunes subdivision, a gated community, on the Gulf Of Mexico 9/10th's of a mile from the historic Fort Morgan. Both the subdivision and the house are very family friendly. Dune Bug is located 5 houses from the community pool and the beach is approx. 100 yds from the community pool. There is an additional outdoor and indoor pool as well at a sauna and exercise room at the Dunes Condos on the same property.

Dune Bug is a 2 story house with a queen bedroom on the first floor with its own entrance, TV and private bath with shower. Next to it is the kitchen that is loved by all who cook. Great gathering area for the family members or if the kids want to snack earlier sitting at the bar. The owner leaves a modest supply of spices for the designated cook. To complete the cooking process there is a Weber charcoal grill under the house. The kitchen is open to the dining and living area and open to the deck where you can view the natural wetlands, sand dunes and Gulf of Mexico with an almost unobstructed view of the Gulf.

The second level of the house has 2 bedrooms -- the Master bedroom with a king bed, tv, dvd/vcr, This room has it's a private bath with an oversized shower and a deck that has a breathtaking view of the Gulf.

The other side of the 2nd floor is the Bunk room with twin bunks and a daybed and its own bath with tub and shower. Room enough to put a couple of air mattresses for all the kids to share in the same room and watch TV.

The washer and dryer are located in the hall between the 2 bedrooms.

Bike riding is a wonderful sport in this low density area and you can ride down to the Fort and take the Mobile Ferry over to Dauphin Island and visit the aquarium, an estuary and another fort or just ride the wonderful bike paths on the island. Across the road from the Dunes is the Gulf Shores Marina where you can charter fishing boats, eat at the very popular Tacky Jack's restaurant, or visit a fun funky bar under the restaurant. There is also a small store for items you may have forgotten at home. Other restaurants in the area are back toward Gulf Shores, The Marketplace at The Beach Club and for fine dining, you can travel another 15 miles up the road and under the bridge is Acme Oyster House (a famous restaurant out of New Orleans.

For the golfers, there are 2 excellent golf courses right on Fort Morgan Rd. -- Peninsula and Kiva Dunes.

Long walks down the beach after a filling meal are a must! See the sunset, find seashells, see the little ghost crabs scurrying around for that evening meal on the beach and watch the beautiful array of birds we have in our area including the magnificent brown pelican. If you fish, you may want to just surf fish before the sun goes down and maybe grill your catch for early breakfast. Nothing like it! During the summer months you may witness a turtle nest hatching, depending on when you visit. Turtle season begins May 1 and ends Oct. 31. An experience you will never forget!

For those who want a laid back vacation without all the hustle and bustle of high rises and lots of people, this is the perfect spot and a vacation you will always remember.

About Jeannette Adrey

I have owned property down at Fort Morgan since 1989. Dune Bug is my second property I had built in 2000 when The Dunes was being developed. I looked up and down the peninsula but kept coming back to the Fort Morgan area.....quiet, serene, low density and very natural. I am semi retired and live up in a small town called Spanish Fort near the Mobile Bay, with my little dog, just north of The Gulf area.

Jeannette Adrey purchased this house in 2000

Great for large families

  • 5 of 5

When you drive on to the property at the Dunes, you will definitely appreciate the security gate access. As always the property is clean, inviting and well stocked with kitchen items. Housekeeping does an amazing job of getting the home ready for the next guests. The homeowner makes every effort to ensure that guests are comfortable and have everything that they need. This includes recommendations for restaurants, day trips or just answering questions about the area that you may have. It's obvious from our many stays at her beautiful home that she truly cares about her guests.

Thank you once again for allowing us to stay at Dune Bug East! I am sure that we will be returning :)

Owner's Response: I love having my guests come back over and over again and are always welcome for many more visits. Sometimes I talk with other owners and I do believe i am the luckiest one down there because most of my guests return back to Dune Bug. I look forward to hearing they had a great visit which means I have done my job to make sure their visits are comfortable and memorable. Look forward to hearing from yall again soon. J

We lover our stay at the Dune bug! The owner went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed or could think of. She even thought of the things we didn't. We will definitely come back!

Owner's Response: This is one of the nicest families I have had in a long time and my cleaning people say, thank you!!! It means so much to have considerate people stay at my property. This one made the top and I hope they will make Dune Bug East an annual destination as so many others have.

Great week despite the rain

  • 5 of 5

3 families traveled to Dune Bug for the week, and it was a fantastic trip. We got caught up in a tropical storm that kept us inside for a few days, but Jeanette(property owner), was in touch with us throughout the storm making sure we were staying safe and offering recommendations of things to do to pass the time. The whole experience with Jeanette was fantastic, and really shows why she has so many 5 star reviews prior to mine. She sent an email before we arrived that gave a number of recommendations for things to do/places to see that allowed us to try some new food and experience a nice little town(Fairhope) on our commute into Gulf Shores. The house itself is well maintained, comfy beds, and very clean. The short walk to the pool and beach is a huge plus with all the little ones. All in all, I can't think of any complaints for the trip. Another neat thing is the guest book she left on the coffee is fun to read through the experiences past guest have shared, which includes notes from children as well. Highly recommend Dune Bug to anyone headed to the Gulf.

Owner's Response: Yes, I was so concerned about Cindy joining all of the Gulf Coast vacationers. However, in the winter, this one would have been a heavy rain storm. These guests were real champs throughout the entire ordeal. I do hope, when they return to Dune Bug, and hopefully, the weather will be much better. So happy yall enjoyed and thanks for the 5! J

Where do you live?

The Dune Bug has become a second home.

  • 5 of 5

This was our third time staying at DB, and it has become a second home for our family. My husband and I try to take the whole family on a vacation each year which includes our grandchildren and pets. Jeanette, the owner, has always been so accommodating and takes good care of anything that needs attention. She also has great advice on activities to do around the area. This is such a beautiful area, I look forward to our trips and our next trip can't come soon enough.

Owner's Response: This family is always welcome at my home and I am so fortunate to have them return often. I try to do upgrades each year and surprise my guests that come back every year or so. They have shown patience when things happen that are out of my control. I am a lucky homeowner! Hope to hear from them again real soon.
