Amazing private beach villa!

Katie I is very exclusive private island beach house with never ending views of the Gulf of Mexico. The villa is located on North Captiva and is only accessible by boat. You’ll get all the privacy you want and at the same time you’re only a 15 minute boat ride away from some of the Florida’s most famous restaurants on Captiva Island. Relax on the beach with luxurious accommodations and enjoy the exclusivity of a private island. Perfect for family vacations – you and your friends can stay together. Or a romantic getaway for two… Forget The Keys or The Bahamas, it really doesn't get any better than this.

If you want some action, the island is located in the middle of the world’s most famous fishing, the Boca Grande Pass. The rental includes the use of a 20 ft boat. The dock is on the islands bayside, the beach and the Gulf of Mexico on the other side.

The Villa has a total of three bedrooms (equipped with 2 king beds and 2 twin beds) plus a pull out king in the living room, two bathrooms, a spacious living room, dining area and a fully equipped kitchen.

The kitchen is fully equipped with full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dish washer, ice-maker etc., everything you need for a perfect vacation. Outside there is a gas/electric BBQ-grill and you can enjoy the ocean view from the two lanai areas.

The villa has TV, DVD and a stereo system.

Come and enjoy this beautiful Vacation Home.

Check-in can only be made during daylight. If the weather prohibits check-in, which means if it’s not possible to take the boat to the villa due to heavy rain, wind or cold, another accommodation has to be made and paid by the guest. You are only aloud to park ONE car at the marina.

Absolutely Spectacular, but...

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 stayed in Villa Katie Easter week. It should be known we are world travelers and therefore have very high standards; the following is our honest opinion of this vacation/ rental:

Pros:

Location - The BEST! If you desire quiet and solitude, this is the place for you. Being on a small island in a section with only a few homes, we rarely saw more than 5-10 other people on a several mile stretch of beach. There are no roads and while there were a few boats anchoring nearby occasionally it was not obtrusive and we felt we owned the beach.

Nature - Saw numerous dolphins, manatees and bald eagles every day. Super cool and a one of a kind experience! The beach is gorgeous, snorkeling and shelling were fantastic.

House - nicely appointed, spacious and plenty of room for our family of 6. We spent most of our time in the two screened in porches due to the views.

Ease of rental & Lars: renting was super easy and Lars was informative and helpful throughout.

Cons:

Boat - the entire reason we rented this home was location and that it came with a 24 foot boat that we could use to visit nearby islands. The boat itself is not designed for comfort but we could have lived with that. The big problem is that the motor (and or throttle) had major malfunction issues where it would repeatedly stall out when trying to put it in gear. Numerous times we were in panic mode that we were either going to run into nearby boats (due to no power) or get standed and drift out to sea. This is a major safety issue that marina personnel confirmed was ongoing.

Electrical in home - this home operates on solar and generator. We didnt have any real issues because in early April the weather was warm during the day and cool at night. I would hesitate to rent here in the Florida summer though. Not confident it could be kept cool enough.

Racoons - while nature lovers, there is a definite racoon problem. We had to close up the house at night (which we would have liked to keep open for breezes) because the racoons break into the patio at night searching for garbage. While cute, they are also pretty fearless and we have video of them getting into the screened in porch.

Overall we would absolutely rent here again if the boat motor is repaired/replaced and the porch is reinforced so the racoons cannot enter.

Charming and well equipped House (with boat), on secluded beautiful island!

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our week-long stay on North Captiva. The owner, Lars, and the other folks involved in the property management were friendly and helpful. Most of our time was spent on the beautiful and very private beach, but we made a couple of outings also using the boat that comes with the house. I would recommend an ice cream at Barnicle Phils on the north of the island. We spent a lovely afternoon shelling on Caya Costa. Most of our groceries we purchased before our arrival (at Publix) but we were able to get supplementary things at the small grocery near Jensen's Marina. Pick-up and drop-off by Island Taxi went smoothly. Overall, a fantastic trip. A true slice of old Florida.

AMAZING getaway!

  • 5 of 5

There's nothing like staying RIGHT on the beach. Being able to walk down your own private beach, only a few other homes sharing this fantastic view of the Gulf of Mexico.

We also enjoyed the boat, being able to explore neighboring islands, going for lunch and fishing on the bay side of the island.

If you want a true piece of paradise for your family vacation, I would REALLY recommend staying at this villa. Even though the logistics may seem a bit much, the experience was so easy and convenient meeting up at Jensen's Marina for check-in. Both the Rental Agent and property Manager were very easy to get a hold of and gave great service from booking to departing.

North Captiva Island is an island in Southwest Florida, located just offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. It lies just north of Captiva Island, separated by a channel called Redfish Pass. The villa is located on the south part of North Captiva on a private beach. It is totally private with a dock on the bay side of the house and the beach on the Gulf side of the house. The villa is RIGHT on the beach. No roads for bikes or golf carts nor shops or restaurants. There are a total of 11 houses on this part of the island.

Take the boat and explore the surroundings of Sanibel, Cabbage Key and Boca Grande.

Please make sure to contact the Property Manager well in advance before your arrival. We recommend a week in advance to make sure all are on the same page regarding your check-in.

On the day of arrival, you will go by car out to main land Captiva Island and Jensen’s Marina where you will meet up with the Property Manager. Please note that you are only aloud to park ONE car at the marina. The Property Manager will take you over to the island; show you the house, the boat and the surroundings.

It is important that the check-in is done during daylight. If you can’t find a flight that will have you at the marina by 4 pm, you need to make other housing arrangements for that night and schedule to meet the Property Manager the morning after. Remember that you need time to get the rental car (or taxi), make the one hour drive out to Captiva Island, do all your grocery shopping and then head over to Jensen’s Marina.

If severe weather prohibits check-in, which means if it’s not possible to take the boat to the villa due to weather conditions such as; heavy rain, wind or cold, another accommodation has to be made and paid by the guest.

The villa has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. However, we want you to be aware that this villa has no regular electricity. The villa has its own generators that run on both propane and solar. This means you need to be a bit more conscious and mindful about how you use the electricity in the house. For example, to only run the AC at night, use the fans and open up the windows during the day.

This is a Florida beach house. You will see a bug or two. Please be aware that depending on which season it is and how the wind is blowing, there might be a lot of mosquitoes after sunset. Both of the verandas are screened in to protect you from mosquitoes and other bugs, but if you are sensitive, please make sure to bring some protection.
