Christmas in VT
We stayed here over Christmas 2017. The accommodations and space were ample for our large group of 15. The setting was pretty with gorgeous views and close enough to town for groceries, shopping, etc... I will say that the upstairs could use a little updating, esp in terms of the bedding and bathrooms. You can tell the kitchen had a recent remodel and was great!
Property' was as described s fit our needs beautifully.
House had everything we needed for our large group. Would recommend and stay here again.
excellent, scenic, spacious.
The fourteen of us, 10 adults and 4 kids had plenty of room. wonderful views of the mountains and close to Stow, rail trail, Glen falls, Mansfield mountain. Many trails to hike on the property. There is a pond for the kids. The kitchen was large enough and well stocked with Pots, Pans, Dishes, glasses etc. Very large dining table with bar seating. Covered porch in the front and open deck in the back with panoramic views. Our family had a wonderful stay.
My family and I recently spent an incredible week at this lovely farmhouse, located just a few miles north of Stowe, Vermont. And I wish we could go back and do it all again!
The house, with its wide-plank floors and rustic beams exudes an air of classic Vermont country charm. Seven bedrooms, three full baths, and a spacious common area (including a large, open, and well-equipped kitchen) ensured that, even with 14 of us, we never felt crowded or on top of one another.
Mornings found us instinctively drawn to the deep front porch, catching the first rays of light as we sipped our coffee and tea. We easily fell into the laid back rhythm of summer vacation, content to linger in the comfy rocking chairs, in no particular hurry to go anywhere.
Our days were mostly spent enjoying the beautifully maintained, expansive property, with its thick carpet of grass (great for croquet) and meandering paths lined with wildflowers that wound their way down to pond. There, Adirondack chairs beckoned us to sit and take in the view and the fresh air and the silence, a silence only interrupted from time to time by the croaking of a large bullfrog. And, while we did take advantage of the proximity to Stowe and all it has to offer, including a lovely Rec Path, hiking in Notch, and several outstanding restaurants, most evenings found us on the back deck. From there, we watched the light shift and the sky change colors as the sun slipped behind Mt. Mansfield. Later, out in the country darkness, the stars were nothing short of spectacular.
Jon, the owner, was very responsive to all of my questions before our vacation, and stayed in touch by text during the week, checking in several times to make sure we had everything we needed, and suggesting things to do. The local property manager was also helpful and quickly took care of a minor issue with the refrigerator.
If you are looking for a quintessential Vermont vacation and the chance to just unwind, my entire family recommends this perfect gem in the shadow of the Green Mountains. Enjoy!!
Fabulous Weekend in the Country
We stayed at the house from 1/5/2012-1/10/12. The pictures on this website simply do not do the property justice. This farmhouse has been updated with all the modern amenities one could want, but in such a way as to preserve the history and charm of the house. The house was clean and comfortable.
We had 13 adults and 3 kids at the house three of the nights during our stay and because of the layout of the house, no one felt cramped or crowded. The owner's sister and her husband were lovely, they treated us to locally made bread and were available if we needed anything. This property also allows pets, which was wonderful for us as we have a 15 month old chocolate lab. This was as much a vacation for him as it was for us. Otis loved the horse in back and the room to run and play. We would recommend this property to family and friends!
