About the property

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Our cozy cabin is situated in a quiet neighborhood amid tall pines with partial views of the lake. The interior was recently remodeled and features knotty pine walls and ceilings, slate and wood floors, and has new full-size kitchen appliances. The cabin exterior features a lovely deck overlooking a large private backyard. Inside or outside, you will enjoy complete relaxation and peace. Warm yourself near the rustic stone fireplace; don't worry about buying firewood, our gas fireplace is carefree. Sit on the deck and enjoy views of the lake while you cook a delicious barbecue dinner. Or sit inside and enjoy cable TV, WiFi, or a DVD from our library. Our cabin is a short walk to the lake or the village, so there is a lot to do within a short distance. Nearby activities include intertubing, alpine slide, laser tag, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, bowling, and boating. With two bedrooms + full bath on each floor, it is perfect for two families. One of our bedrooms contains bunk beds and a large flat screen TV+DVD player for the kids; they will love Big Bear!

About The Owner

We have two kids and love coming to the cabin to get away. We love to ski/snowboard and play on the lake.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose Big Bear

We had been visiting Mammoth Mountain for years, but find this to be more appealing because of the shorter drive (1 hr 45 min vs 4 hr 30 min).

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is centrally located and in a quiet neighborhood. The lake can be seen from the kitchen, dining room, and living room and makes for a relaxing atmosphere.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is perfect for a family vacation. The house is beautiful and cozy and is close to everywhere- bowling barn, restaurants, tubing, lake, etc. Loved the aztec prints of their throw pillows in the living room. :) kitchen is complete with up to date appliances!! The owners have a booklet that'll tell you basic info you need to know about the house- wifi, check in/out details, etc. House is very kid friendly too, your children will love it. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. We certainly enjoyed our stay!

Ideal vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to Dave and Kathe for a great getaway. We had a wonderful time in their lovely home, truly conveniently located within walking distance of the lake, village and a morning cappuccino. Perfect layout with all of the amenities you could ask for, plus just enough lake view to beckon you to the water. Dave and Kathe checked in on us to make sure everything was as we expected, which was really appreciated and made us feel extra welcome. We only stayed for a long weekend, but made memories to last a lifetime. Thanks again Dave and Kathe for your gracious hospitality!

Bring birdseed and peanuts!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay here. As a previous reviewer indicated, this home is bigger than it looks. We only stayed one night, but the gas fireplace came in handy for the chilly evening. The owner has a book with clear instructions for just about everything (like which of the 4 remotes you need to use to play a DVD), though we did have to wing it when the heat stopped working. (Hint: go outside and flip the breaker) We brought birdseed to fill the feeder in the back yard, and peanuts to scatter around the back porch, and by midday we were enjoying chipmunks, blue jays and woodpeckers galore. We were enjoying the wildlife so much we got (very gently) busted by the owner for being there past checkout (apparently there's a camera trained on the parking pad). The only negative thing I can say is that there was no hand soap anywhere in the house. Shampoo and dish soap yes, but nothing to wash your hands with in the kitchen or either of the bathrooms. For fun, check out the Urban Adventure Quest in downtown Big Bear.

Great for a girls weekend!

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 5 ladies really enjoyed our stay. We wanted a quiet, convenient location that would comfortably accommodate our crew. We found just that with this house on Temple.

Don't let the exterior or photos lead you to believe this is a tiny cottage. There is plenty of room in this two story getaway. And, the house was even better in person. Clean, cute and cozy.

There were plenty of nice touches including books and DVDs for entertainment.

The fireplace downstairs kept us toasty warm in the evenings. The central heat took some time to make its way upstairs while the downstairs bedrooms heated up quickly. The heated blankets helped with the upstairs rooms at night.

The location is the perfect distance for a 15-20 minute walk to the village with shops and restaurants.

I would definitely come back on a future trip to Big Bear.

Great Family Trip

  • 5 of 5

The family went to Big Bear for a little cold and snow to celebrate my husbands birthday and it perfect! The yard was perfect for the kids to play in the snow and even though we had our own gliders and tubes it was a great that there were some in the house as well just in case. In fact the cabin was full of little details like that, there were some great books, (I started reading one and had to buy it as soon as I came back so I could finish it, it was sooo good). Everything was great and we had a great time

Great Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was exactly what we were looking for. After a couple of really bad experiences renting cabins, I was a little worried. This cabin relieved my fears and as soon as walking in, I was worry free. Clean, cozy, many amenities, books, toys for kids, clean kitchen utensils.

The cabin's location was perfect. We were close to the slopes, stores, and restaurants. My family and I had a great time and will definitely be back.
