Overview

About the property

Cabin, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

This property is truly a magical place. It is completely private, with only one other home in the vicinity. Even though it is just an hour from Atlanta, you definately feel like you are 'away'. The cabin is made from 100 year old reclaimed timbers. It is rustic, but provides the comfort you need to have a great weekend. There is a large outdoor firepit that overlooks the lake and rivers. The scene looks like an Ansel Adams photo. Also, bring your dogs - they will love it!! Feel free to email or call me with any questions. There is a twin trundle in the living area that doubles as a couch for TV watching. The loft has a king size temperpedic bed. Please note to access the loft you have to climb a latter, so big dogs can not sleep with you. Also, climbing the ladder could be a challenge for some. Please take this into consideration before booking. Our cabin is truly special, but we find that you need to love a rustic setting and have an adventurous spirit to truly appreciate it. If this describes you and you are looking to really get away from it all, this rustic cabin is perfect for you.

About Craig and Kristen Moore

I am an avid traveler and love being outdoors. I enjoy biking, hiking and all types of fishing. My ideal day is spent with my family being active outdoors.

Craig and Kristen Moore purchased this cabin in 2007

Why Craig and Kristen Moore chose Northwest High Country

Ellijay offers a wealth of outdoor opportunities. It is so close and easy to get to, but feels a world away from Atlanta. It is usually about 10 degrees cooler in the mountains than down in the city.

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin is so unique, not only because it is a beautiful antique cabin, but because it offers something that most properties don't: mountain, river and lake views and access. There are many properties that have or even two of those features, but very few that have all three. Also, the fact that we are in the Cohutta wilderness area provides unprecedented access to world class hiking, biking and fishing. Please note there is a King temperpedic bed in a loft (that tall guests won't be able to stand up) that has to be accessed by climbing a steep ladder!

Amazing getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was welcoming, warm, and cozy....more than we imagined. We enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake and the wonderful sounds of nature while sitting out on the deck. The cabin had all the essentials needed and offered the perfect time to unplug, relax, and enjoying each others' company. Just minutes from the historic district of Ellijay, this cabin made it easy to shop and enjoy delicious evening dinners downtown!

Great cabin for a guys weekend!

  • 5 of 5

My brother and two of his friends joined me for a guys hunting weekend up in the Cohutta Wilderness. This cabin was perfect for what we needed without the extra cost of some of the other "bells and whistles" glamping "cabins" around. It was close enough to civilization and far enough away to make it feel remote. Overall great experience. The hunting was less than fruitful but the cabin made up for it and the hiking in that area is the real deal. Great views too!

Loved staying at this cozy cabin. With just the bare essentials, I was able to relax and unwind away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

Our stay was wonderful. Being unplugged from the world did wonders for our marriage!

  • 5 of 5

At first we were shocked with how small it was but started loving the simplicity very quickly. My eldest son died by suicide now 2 years ago , every year we get away for Christmas and his death date. Just not the same anymore. Well enough of that, the cabin was last minute decision but one of the best I have ever made. I even told my brother about ithe and was so wishing he and his wife could go to some place like this. So I booked him and her a birthday/anniversary prestigious in March. We will come back that is for sure! By the way my angel son would have been theilled!

It was exactly what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

I rented the cabin for our anniversary and could not have been happier. When we arrived it had been freshly cleaned and was in order. The views from the cabin were even better than the photo's on the VRBO site. It is a rustic building, but very cozy and it made us feel very much at home. The nights were cold but the cabin stayed very comfortable using the wood burning stove.

There is a lot to do close by. We spent our days in both Ellijay and Blue Ridge. There are many places of interest within close drive whether you want to spend you time with nature or shopping. We would recommend it to everyone who enjoys the outdoors.

Adorable and Private

  • 4 of 5

Loved it! Just the bear essentials and that was all we needed; my only regret was not bringing my Lab/Dane mix. He would have fallen in love with Lucy. Lucy was a gorgeous Lab that was not about to let me venture through the woods alone. Would have given 5 stars but indoor propain stove was missing a hose so we couldn't use it. No doubt about it.. I will return to this rustic, sucluded cabin.
