A well appointed condo in the private gated community of Mariners Cay, just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston and an easy 15 minute walk to the pier at the beach. Recent renovation include the installation of new, larger sliding doors for more light in the living area and a new storm door at the entrance to permit more light without a draft.

The condo contains a fully equipped kitchen and wet bar, a half bath on the main floor, a private master bath and guest bath. The comfortable living area is ideal for resting between activities, watching TV or a video, or catching a quick nap.

Pool, tennis courts, and club house amenities are directly across from the condo.

Restaurants and shops abound in the town of Folly Beach. Overlooking the Folly River, watch the dolphins, gulls and watercraft from the screened porch and from the small private balcony off of the master bedroom.

Beach community activities generally available in most beach communities can be found here, too. Kayaking, para-sailing, river and marsh cruises, are all available through nearby sources.

There is also an independently owned marina within the Mariners' Cay complex should you want to inquire about bringing your boat!

You should know:

I use a property management company, Fred Holland Realty, to facilitate the rental of my condo for a couple of reasons: the staff has contacts in the Folly Beach community to respond promptly should service or repairs be needed; it also facilitates easy check in and out. I see all inquiries as they come in and respond directly to you while forwarding them to Fred Holland Realty for further response.

Location was great. Unit is dated. The cushions in the leather sofa were so old you sunk so far down it was hard to get up. The gaps in the counter top in the upstairs bathroom were so large that they are a bacteria heaven. The simple maintenance of the unit has been neglected for years. Don't try a different spray setting in the shower as the head is so dirty and old only one setting works. Can't even spend $10 for a new shower head? Love the drywall screws holding up the towel rod backboard. The sheets were so thin they have to be 10 years old. You felt like the owners only used the unit as a VRBO to make money and never made a commitment to spend a dime. They did go to IKEA and purchase a fixture to go over the dinning table to accent the office chairs around the table. What a joke of a unit. Loved the neighbor downstairs that informed us on the way to our unit we would need to tip toe for 3 days as he can hear everything as the unit has no insulation between floors. Don't think about grabbing a extra pillow there are no extra pillow cases. I could go on and on. So frustrating as you plan a family event and then you are embarrassed as your in laws arrive. Forgot to mention the dirty dished in the cupboard.

Owner's Response: Wow! I have never received a review like this and don't know how to respond. I am sorry that my guest had this experience. Any issues noted above that can be, have been addressed with my agent. I am disappointed that the guest didn't contact me directly, since my email address was included in correspondence regarding the reservation. Also my agent did not receive any communication of dissatisfaction during the guest's stay, nor were any issues reported at the time of check out. As for my neighbors below, most guests have reported that they were happy to meet them, and vice versa, and that they were very helpful in recommending restaurants, etc., during their stay. It has certainly been my experience that they are excellent neighbors. The experience of this guest is upsetting in a number of ways. My apologies to her.

Good place to stay, but needs some work.

We decided on a last minute weekend family getaway before the close of summer and found this place available for our dates. We are regular visitors to Folly and I'd never stayed off-island, but getting onto Folly Island was easy as long as we didn't go at peak hours and having easy pool access was great for the kids. The condo was generally clean, although the floors could use a deep cleaning. Some of the furnishings could use an update (office chairs for the dining table); the decor seems a bit haphazard; and the walls need some work - you can see numerous patch jobs that would disappear with some sanding and fresh paint. Don't expect luxury perfection, but it's convenient, comfortable and affordable. I'd stay here again.

Enjoyed it thoroughly!

My husband and I, along with a brother and sister-in-law, spent three nights here and we enjoyed it a lot. It was clean (got the seal of approval from my compulsive cleaner sis-in-law) and comfortable! We loved the porch overlooking the water and used the pool several times, too. We brought paper products/cleaning supplies but most were available for us. The neighbors below us were friendly and gave tips for restaurants and a boat ride! :) It was overall a pleasant stay and a great location and we look forward to returning in the future.

Nice condo

Nice, comfortable condo. It was clean when we arrived and the AC was on. Location is walkable to center street if you enjoy walking. We didn't use the pool but it looked very inviting. Mariners Cay is an older complex and is showing its age a bit but it is still a good place to stay in Folly.
