Needs lots of updating. Not worth the price we paid .
I wasn't all that impressed for the price we paid. The cottage needs lots of updating. The glass on the back door was broken when we got there so any one could get in by sticking there hand in and unlocking the door you would think this would be fixed before renting it out due to safety concerns.
The cottage is always having things upgraded, the air conditioners, new refrigerator, new mattresses, the flat screen TV, but the cottage is a classic Cape Cod cottage in a pine grove with shade and cool breezes. The décor is golden pine paneling, the setting Adirondack chairs. If you're looking for granite counter tops look elsewhere. The cottage is near great beaches and in walking distance of at least five restaurants. Location, location, location, worth every penny.
We're sorry about the broken window pane in the back door, but surprised that this guest didn't ask for a repair and then after the fact wrote it into a review. If it bothered the guest much it would have been fixed the day she called/emailed about it. Apparently the previous guest who broke the window took great pains to clean up all the shards and remove any remaining glass from the frame so our cleaning service wouldn't notice. I was at the cottage this past weekend and was looking at the trim around the same door from the outside as the painters were re-painting the trim and the broken pane didn't catch my eye either. Communication from all sides is a great thing and a common courtesy.
Ok but if we came again we probably would try the motrel/hotel rooms
Bath needs electrical outlet
Few spiders were not pleasant
Other wise we were pleased
We are happy the guests were overall pleased with their stay. The cottage is cleaned carefully before the guests arrival but spiders are a fact of life in rural Cape Cod. We also see the occasional wild turkey and hawk on the property. More majestic than spiders but all part of the great outdoors. Luckily there are no poisonous spiders on Cape Cod. The longer reviews from stays last year give a better view of the property.
The property pretty great with the two pools negative the trees and stumps around
We enjoyed our stay all was nice a few points the cleaning was not available immediately we had to call also not enough pans to cook and the bbq grill too close to property smell of the propane and cooking
the cottage was clean would be nice to be updated overall a nice experience
Classic Cape Cod with awesome facilities
Authentic, rustic cape cod cottage which is very hard to find these days. Although rustic, it was very clean and charming. The best part is that you get the best of both worlds with a nice cottage with nice grounds but with two pools, a hot tub, and a sauna that actually works! We were very impressed and happy with it all.
Beach is super close and we biked easily with a family of four (including a seven year old girl). Dennisport is a great location central to everything and the water is very warm.
Kitchen was missing a few key things but the owner was happy to hear of it so he could make sure things were replaced (he explained things slowly disappear and he doesn't always know).
Double bed only in master is a bit of a problem when you are used to queen or king, but just takes getting a bit of use to.
We were very happy with our stay.
Cape Cod Vacation
This was our second time vacationing on Cape Cod and once again we were not disappointed. This was our first time here at Colonial Village. We stayed at the cottages, and our overall experience was very positive. We were in the Milly PIcher cottage, right next to the indoor pool, so it was a short (very short) walk to use the indoor pool, hot tub and Sauna. Both the pools and hot tub were always immaculate and I can truthfully say that I have been to brand name hotels with pools that were not as clean as these pools were.
The cottage itself was rustic, which is something that we loved and well cleaned. The only complaints that I had was the faint smell of natural gas when first entering the cottage and also in in the bathroom. We remedied the problem by keeping the windows open. I also found the twin bed mattress to be slightly too hard, but that is a personal preference and in no means a negative against the property at all.
The front staff was very friendly and helpful, so kudos to them, especially at such a busy time when there were all those weddings going on.
Over all we loved our time at the Cape and if given a chance, we would stay at the COlonial Village again.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves immensely and if given a chance will return again.
This place is awesome
This place is classic Cape Cod. Beautifully maintained and operated, it boasts the cleanest cottages on the Cape, meticulously kept grounds, crystal clear pools, and a minutes walk to the warmest water and sandiest beaches in New England. My family has been staying here for 30 + years, and will continue to do so.
No pets, kennels near by. More info at www.capecodcolonialvillage.com
