It was a great home for my entire family - it was a great way to celebrate my 70th birthday with my family. They all enjoyed it.
Our family has been gathering on the Outer Banks and staying at this beautiful home for the past 5 years and we couldn’t be happier with our “home away from home”. The owner/property manager does an amazing job of maintaining this property and it’s always fun to return and see what is new – appliances, furnishings, accessories, cookware – we are never disappointed! As other reviewers have noted, this house is both CLEAN and organized. The rooms are spacious and the bright, open layout is perfect for our group. We have joked that the only thing missing is an elevator but as long as we can climb the stairs we will be back! Thank you for the wonderful memories.
The Jewel of Denial is a great home in Duck that is nicely appointed, full of nice features (even labeled) and best of all CLEAN. After 40 weeks of rentals in OBX, it was nice to get a home that was in such great condition. Super clean kitchen that had outstanding features, eating and cooking wear and lots of space. Leisure spaces were pretty new and the electronics were in great shape (nice TVs, high end stereo and fast internet). We only used 5 of the 8 bedrooms and they were all just fine. Washer was new and worked great. Only thing that would make things 105% awesome would be a better ice cube maker as the refrig could not keep up to demand and hot tub jet performance needs attention.
Management company was great to work with and we were treated with 2 fruit pies (still warm) mid week. Nice touch and appreciated. Had a great visit and the Four Seasons sub was wonderful with nice pools, beach access and other services. See you next year.
. We have been going to the OBX for 20 years and we have tried a lot of homes. Without a doubt this was Absolutely one of the best houses we've ever rented. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedrooms were spacious (which is usually not the case), the yard was very nice, the pool was great and lots of little touches made the house amazing.
After such a great experience last summer with our large extended family, we decided that there is no better vacation spot than Jewel of Denial. We were determined to go back this summer! We recently returned from our second stay, this time with four families, all with young children. The personal touches from the owner, as well as all the amenities the Four Seasons Community has to offer, make this the perfect place to vacation. The home offers plenty of space for a large group to spread out or gather together as desired, and is very well maintained. Being so close to the beach and just a short walk/bike ride away from the town of Duck, shopping & boardwalk makes this a fantastic location. We can't wait to get back to Jewel.
Our large group had a really nice time in this home! Pros: Tons of space, lots of TVs, large dining table, beach supplies provided (chairs, wagon, sand toys), close to town, close to beach (walkable or you can drive the short distance). The kitchen was well equipped (we did a lot of cooking). There is a nice green space for outdoor games in the backyard and the pool is a decent size. Cons: The home needs updating especially the rug running throughout and the bathroom and linens (bedspreads & towels). Ways to improve: Add a gas grill, more cable channels, more bikes, more adirondack chairs on the main deck. We really did enjoy the home and Duck but next time we will get a house that has been updated and that is on the beach.
My family loved this house. There were 11 of us total – 6 adults, and 5 children ranging in age from 10 months to 6 years. The house had everything we needed to have a comfortable stay at the beach. Something to keep in mind is that this rental has 3 stories, which means a lot of stairs. A crawling baby presents fun challenges!
The house was very clean and well-maintained. We loved the pool, the decks (with hammock and swing!), the kitchen, and the large dining table. The Ship's Watch was a favorite of the 4 year old granddaughter. It was a short walk to the club-house one direction, and a short walk to the playground, community pool, and beach access, the other direction. If you are a walker/runner, there is a nice, paved trail that runs perpendicular to the road outside the neighborhood.
The family enjoyed many trips to Duck Donuts, and had delicious dining excursions to The Blue Point, Aqua Restaurant, and The Roadside Bar and Grill.
I highly recommend this house – we hope to rent it again!
