We fell in love with this unit the first time we saw it. It is one of four units in our complex with direct access from the lanai to the beach and water. You will love to just walk out the gate from the lanai to walk along the beach, relax on lounge chairs under the palm trees, watch the pelicans dive for breakfast or snorkel with the fish by the manmade reef in the bay. You will be just a few steps from the pool. Too lazy to cook after a day in the sun? Walk to Breezez about 100 yards down the beach for lunch or dinner. Or just go next door to The Golden Rail (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner). Two grocery stores are within walking distance. Drive just 7 minutes to Christiansted to enjoy duty-free shopping, art galleries, historical buildings, quaint shops, and several great restaurants. We are centrally located mid-island on the north shore. It is only a short drive to some of the most spectacular beaches in the world.

You will love this clean, updated unit:

Our unit has been renovated with new tile, paint, appliances, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, blinds, linens and furniture. We have an air conditioner in the living area and one in each bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed, two night stands, a dresser and a closet. The master bath has a vessel sink in the vanity area and the stool and shower in a separate area. The master suite is separated from the rest of the condo by a door. The guest bedroom has twin beds which can be easily converted to a king by the staff before you arrive. The guest room has a night stand, a chest of drawers and a closet. The full bath is directly across the hall. There is a washer and dryer in a closet in the hall. The kitchen has full size appliances; a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, dishes, pots, pans, etc. There are two stools for counter seating. The dining area has a glass top table and four chairs. The living room has a sofa, love seat, end tables, a coffee table and a wall mounted flat screen TV. We have internet (wifi) and cable in the unit.

Rent a car to see the sights:

We recommend renting a car to take advantage of the great variety of recreational activities on St Croix. There are three golf courses. Carambola is stunning. You can go horsebackriding on the west end in the rain forest and on the beach. Visit the botanical gardens set in the picturesque ruins of an old sugar plantation. The TanTan Tour is an exciting jeep tour to the top of the mountains in the rain forest and then down to wade in a tide pool on the north end. Visit the historic towns of Christiansted and Fredericksted. Take a hike from Point Udall down to Jack's and Isaac's Bay or hike from Carambola to the tide pools. Visit the Whim Museum or the Lawaetz Family Museum to learn about life on St. Croix in days gone by. Don't miss the crab races at several local restaurants. Also the night kayaking in glass bottom kayaking to see the bioluminescesnce is great fun.

Set sail on a Tall Boat, the Roseway for a sunset sail and support local kids and their learning experience on the Roseway.

Enjoy the beaches and the water:

There are too many beautiful beaches on St. Croix to name. You will want to visit as many as you can. Many of these beaches have great snorkeling. For the scuba divers, there are shipwrecks to explore, as well as 'The Wall' at Cane Bay. Don't miss taking a charter boat to snorkel at Buck Island (an underwater national park). Help hoist the sails on a hundred year old sailing ship, the Roseway, as you head out on a sunset cruise. Try night kayaking in a glass kayak to see the magical bioluminescence underwater in the dark. You can rent jet skis or try kiteboarding or windsurfing. Charter a sail boat or do some deep sea fishing from a fishing boat.

About Judy Kimmel

My husband and I are retired. We bought this unit to spend time in a tropical climate to escape the cold in the north. It has been one of the best decisions we every made. We have fallen in love with St Croix, the people, the culture and especially the beautiful beaches. We love the fact that St. Croix is not crowded with tourists. We enjoy driving around on uncrowded roads to lovely quiet beaches. I have started watercolor painting since I retired. There seems to be a clairity and brightness to the colors on St. Croix. The sunsets and sunrises are stunning. Each spectacular beach is a painting waiting to happen. The spectacular views take my breath away. The tropical flowers are delightful. The plantation ruins and boarded up structures give you a glimpse into the history of the island. I find beauty at every turn and it inspires me to try to capture my impressions in my watercolors.

We love the view from the condo out to the beach and the ocean. We love the location. It is centrally located on the north shore just minutes from Christiansted, grocery shopping and wonderful beaches. We can walk directly out to the beach from our condo. We enjoy the beach, the pool, the grill and the gardens at Colony Cove. We also appreciate the fact that St Croix is a US Territory so we feel very much at home and safe on St. Croix. Our friends don't need a passport to visit us.

What makes this condo unique

Our unit has been totally renovated. It seems like new and it is very clean.You will enjoy the updated kitchen and bathrooms. We have wifi access and a local house phone. The new furniture and linens give it a tropical feeling. We enjoy sitting on the lanai in the evening and just watching the moon come up over the ocean. We like walking out our gate to walk on the beach or read on the lounge chairs in the sun. We enjoy visiting with friends at the pool and grilling our dinner while we chat. We also enjoy snorkeling along the manmade reef in our bay. We have seen all kinds of fish, rays, lobster, turtles and even an octopus. Our unit has the best location in the complex and it is one of the nicest units at Colony Cove. We go to St. Croix twice a year to make sure the unit is well maintained.

Nice Location!

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our August stay at Judy's Condo at Colony Cove. The central location was great for us. We enjoyed snorkeling right out in front of the condo. The condo was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The neighborhood is a little sketchy surrounding the condo, but I ran several mornings early and had no problems except for people looking at me strangely.

We dove the wall at Cane Bay and did a night dive at Frederiksted pier with the Cane Bay Dive Shop. They were great! The visibility at Cane Bay wasn't the best as the water was very turbid; probably due to the weather. It is the tropics so we experienced several storms and one day we lost power several times. The storms were very fast moving so we were still able to do everything we wanted.

The Food Town grocery story is just a couple blocks away and surprisingly had gluten free food and a deli. The Pueblo Market had a better selection overall but not much gluten-free (my children and myself have celiac). Just a short drive into Christiansted there is a wonderful market called Seaside Market & Deli. Also, less than half a mile away is a Cross-Fit gym that was great for a 6:30 am workout ($20 per visit). The C'sted boardwalk is just about two miles away with lots of nice restaurants. Check out Caribbean Sea Adventures for the Buck Island snorkeling tour. They were awesome and that was one of our favorite things during the trip.

Relaxing stay

This is a beautiful property in a convenient central location of St. Croix. We enjoyed relaxing in the unit, at the pool, at the beach, and at the Golden Rail restaurant next door when we weren't out exploring St. Croix. The unit was large, comfortable, clean, and had a gorgeous view of the beach. It was a great family friendly environment for us to spend our vacation. We will definitely want to see if this unit is available when we return to St. Croix!

This unit is directly on the beach and close to the pool. The people (guests and management) were very friendly, as well as almost all the people of St. Croix.

Perfect for our family

We loved the condo, the views from the main living areas are spectacular. The huge covered patio is a cool space to be outdoors. With both sets of sliders open, the cooling breezes wafted through the entire unit. We liked how the units were staggered and felt very private from the patio.

We found everything we needed for 2 adults and 2 teen boys, including snorkel gear (our 14 yr. old son was amazed to find fins that fit his size 14 feet!), a cooler and beach chairs. The kitchen was decently equipped, we prepared breakfast most days and cooked dinner twice, fresh tuna purchased from a nearby fisherman! We only used the pool once as we did lots of beach-hopping, it is landscaped beautifully with plenty of comfortable lounge chairs.

We did much exploring, found some lovely beaches that we had all to ourselves. We enjoyed the snorkeling at Cane Bay and out in front of the condo as well. We chartered Hook and Sun for a 1/2 day fishing charter, we did inshore for Tarpon which was great fun for the boys. Our favorite restaurants were Savant and 40 Strand Eatery, we enjoyed Balter very much as well. Armstrong's ice cream near Frederiksted is well worth the trip, stop there after visiting Turtle's Deli! Sweet Bite's cafe in Frederiksted has wonderful desserts as well!

There was much we didn't do as we were greatly in need of relaxation and didn't worry about waking up too early or being too busy! We have to come back as there was so much we didn't have time to explore! We will be staying at this condo again!

Great location & beautiful views!!

The beachfront location provided wonderful views & beautiful breezes. However, you couldn't really swim at the beach, which was a little disappointing. We appreciated the updated bathrooms & the well stocked kitchen. There were plenty of pots, pans,utensils, glassware,

dishes etc. There were a few drawbacks; the air conditioner in the living room did not cool the room down at all. Thankfully, we were able to open both sliding doors to the porch area & this provided a great breeze. The master bedroom felt damp & had little or no ventilation.This lent a musty odor to the pillows & bed linens. We turned on the AC at night, which helped, but didn't really get rid of the mustiness. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would only return to this property if the conditions mentioned above were remedied.

Owner's Response: I was very surprised to get this review. I always ask all our guests to let me or our manager know ASAP if anything in the condo is broken or needs attention. Neither one of us heard from these renters during their stay. After reading the above review, I emailed the guest and asked if she had notified the manager about the problems. She replied "We didn't contact Kevin about the AC as it really wasn't that big of a deal. We had a great breeze which made the living area quite comfortable." Our manager works full time at Colony Cove. If the guest had said something while she was there, we would have had these issues resolved in short order. The manager would have had an air conditioner repairman there within 24 hours (we have a service contract). He would have set up the 2 stationary fans we have in the unit to blow out the musty smell in the bedroom. He would have replaced the pillows. I'm very sorry that the guests didn't give us a chance to fix these issues while they were staying in the condo. The other reviews that we have speak to our high standards. I have a wonderful cleaning lady and manager who work hard to keep the unit very clean and in tip top shape.

After looking at the other condos in the area I'm glad we chose this one. Everything was just as imagined and better. Staff was very friendly and the snorkeling on the tire reef was impressive. I recommend this place to all!!

Our condo is centrally located on the north shore. We drive about the same distance to beaches on the south, east and west ends. We have two grocery stores within walking distance. We are about 7 minutes drive to Christiansted where many of the good restaurants, galleries and shops are located. You can also sign up for snorkeling, diving, jeep and sightseeing tours in Christiansted.

We love to eat at good restaurants. Our favorite restaurants are:

Beachside Cafe for Sunday Brunch, lunch or dinner
