About Suzanne & John

My husband John and I are disabled veterans. We have been happily married for 28 years. We love traveling. Keyhouse Villa is our favorite spot in the world! We have been landlords for over 20 years. It is important to us to have your stay memorable! We do our best to meet or exceed your expectations! We take pride in ownership!

Suzanne & John purchased this villa in 2006

Why Suzanne & John chose St. Kitts (St. Christopher)

We chose this property to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life! Dieppe Bay is a quaint fishing village with the most wonderful people! Enjoy this tranquil beach front Villa. Listen to the waves that sound like rain fall as the Atlantic swells hit the coral reef just off the deck! Enjoy the beautiful sunrise and sunsets from the deck!

What makes this villa unique

Our property is unique in that we have the benefits of the Atlantic Ocean to our right as well as the Caribbean Sea to our left! Our deck has the vantage point of canterlevering over the ocean where you can cast the fishing pole we have supplied and catch some Mahi-Mahi, Red Snapper or Gar. The local fisherman can help with that if you don't catch anything! Maybe some fresh Rock Lobster sounds good! They're right there in the reef!

The dormant volcano is directly behind us and is a great days hike into the rain forest!

We overlook the live reef with waves crashing over them in many different directions just a short short swim off our deck! There are 4 sets of snorkel gear , 3 boogie board and a fishing pole , walking sticks to hike the volcano, 2 portable beach sand chairs, 2 lounge chairs, 2 beach blankets, and a cooler for your use while staying with us!

We have been in American Way, American Airlines magazine, Vogue and Town and Country Magazines! Enjoy our little slice of paradise!

We have plantation shutter doors. The kitchen and dining are open air. Just doing dishes while looking at the reef feels luxurious! We supply containers and refrigerator for your food items.

The bedroom is Air Conditioned for your comfort although the temperature on St Kitts doesn't fluctuate too much, 80s to low 90s year round with an average of 84.

Gem found on Treasure Island

  • 5 of 5

This villa is an absolutely amazing piece of real estate. Perched on the edge of the Carribean and Atlantic Oceans, the view defies description. The constant ocean breezes keep the deck and living area comfortable, and the soothing sounds drown out noise from nearby neighbors, dogs, etc.

While there we were visited by friendly birds (who needed reminders that they were not supposed to be in the kitchen), geckos and a pair of monkeys who leapt across the deck and sat on the roof for a bit.

The house is well furnished with a comfortable bed, plenty of clean towels and good cookware, utensils and lovely dishes, glasses, etc. This was one of the best-equipped rental kitchens I have seen so far.

Chef prepared a lovely dinner for us the first night and stopped by each morning and evening to make sure we were ok. He was a wealth of information about the village of Dieppe and St. Kitts. The owner, Suzanne, is very helpful and accommodating. She was not on St. Kitts while we were, but I hope to meet her in person some day!

There is pretty good snorkeling right off Dieppe beach and an EXCELLENT beach restaurant and bar (Arthur's), a 2 minute walk from the villa. Staff are very friendly and the food is really good, prices about $15-20 a plate. They are open noon to 5 p.m. Try Michelle's food for a great taste of local cuisine. She brings food in to the red bus stop in Dieppe around lunchtime, and is there until she sells out. We had enough to feed 5 people for about $23 total. Chicken, fish, rice, veggies, Johnny cakes, plantains.

You will want to hire a guide or driver or rent a car to explore St. Kitts and all there is to offer on this lovely island. Close by is the trailhead to Mt. Liamuiga, which we hiked with Royston ⭐️. You need to be in good physical shape for this! Also nearby are the lovely Caribella Batik/Romney Manor and Brimstone Hill Fortress. We preferred staying away from the more developed end of the island and enjoyed driving and exploring. The beaches are about a 30 or 40 minute drive, and there are plenty of them. Stay away from the beach bars (except Arthur's) on weekdays from about 10 to 3 pm if you don't like the cruise ship crowds. We loved coming " home" to our quiet town of Dieppe at the end of the day for a swim in the pool and dinner on the deck.

I highly recommend this villa for anyone with a sense of adventure who likes to explore off the beaten track while staying in the lap of luxury!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Jessica for such a lovely review of KeyHouse! I'm so happy you found our tropical paradise so comfortable. We try to have all the comforts of home available for our guests. Isn't it amazing that Dieppe Bay has so much history! Pirates with their Treasures must have been meandering about the village and port! You can almost picture how daily life would have been hundreds of years ago at the Cains plantation ruins that are just around the corner! It's such a historical site! Chef is such a gem and enjoys having guests to cook and care for! I will let him know how much you appreciated him! Hopefully we can get to meet each other when you return to KeyHouse! Until then, we'll send some sunshine your way!

Key House didn't disappoint!

  • 4 of 5

We loved key house. I would have given 5 stars but there are some repairs that are needed but I understand they are on the way! That being said, the community at Dieppe Bay had a great vibe! We loved Chef and he made our stay wonderful. Took us on a hike to pick mangos and cooked for us a couple of nights. If we had a need, he met it and exceeded it. We will forever remember our adventures as key house!

Storybook Caribbean Villa

  • 5 of 5

After spending 7 nights on 3 other islands The Keyhouse on St. KITTS was the ultimate ending to an amazing Caribbean vacation. This house is everything the pictures portray and more. Our host, Chef and tour guide "Chef" made our stay even more special via the flower pedals paving our entrance, the personalized shopping and the incredible, in house, made to order, served on the ocean front patio, romantic seafood dinner for two. Serioysly, this was one place we decided to just enjoy for the day and the night. We left only for a couple hours to walk down to the beach front little restaurant for lunch. The rest of the day was spent soaking up the sun, taking in the views and swimming in the pool. Did I mention you can jump in the pool out of the house? Did you know you can loo out at the ocean while relaxing in the pool? Or even jump in the ocean then back in the pool and then relax on the sun deck all within a handful of steps. This place was simply magical. My wife and I laughed, relaxed, enjoyed every minite and even did our very 1st Facebook live post during sunset on the deck. Al the while Chef was there when we needed him and gone when we wanted our privacy. He led us on an a.m. hike to the bat caves and basically ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. Oh and Suzanne was the most responsive and informative VRBO / AirBNB owners I have ever had the pleasure to rent from. Her emails were always timely, informative and made me feel that this was the rightplace for us to stay.

In closing, and in the spirit of honesty, the Keyhouse is not located on the touristy side of the island. The drive to and up to the house may have some wondering about where exactly they ended up. There is some rather rough and rustic houses around but I can tell you from the heart that we had no problems, felt safe, walked the beach and frankly felt more in touch with the island then many of the other "resorts" we stayed at. Net.net. For an adventurous couple or even small family this house will make you feel part of the Caribbean, or at least I k ow it left us feeling like we were a part of it and that my wife and I will definately be going back. Thank you so much Suzanne and Chef. The Keyhouse made memories I will cherish for a lifetime.

Sincerly,.Bill and Tana S. Bend, Oregon.

We give our best at KeyHouse so that each guest has a spectacular stay! We can't wait to meet you! John and I will hopefully be there when you return to KeyHouse! See you soon! Suzanne, John & Chef

Lovely

Words cannot describe how amazing it was to sit on the porch every morning and evening. The view was breathtaking. I recommend this little gem to anyone who dislikes big all-inclusive hotels or sterile condo rentals. This house fit us perfectly.!

Privacy & Away from it All in this Charming 'ON THE WATER' Villa

  • 4 of 5

If there was the option to put 4.5 stars I would.

From the first contact with owner Suzanne (who was very quick to reply to all emails) to goodbye on the final day, there was excellent communication and a very strong desire to make sure our every need was taken care of.. Great Customer Service. You don't have to worry about paying your money and being ignored here.

The location directly on the water would be difficult to match anywhere at any price point. The views from the deck are postcard perfect and will make it difficult to drag yourself away. Which with a well equipped kitchen you don't need to do so long as you bring groceries and are prepared to cook for yourselves OR hire the houseman Chef who has good culinary skills and a very pleasant personality. Eating out options near by are limited and our experience was that they can't be counted on to be open. (there are grocery stores near the airport that are somewhat limited and a bit on the expensive side but adequate)

We strongly recommend renting a car. This is the quiet side of the island so at some point you will likely want to get out and see the attractions and eat in a few restaurants, which is much easier with your own wheels. The island is not overly large so you can drive anywhere.

The owner has done a great job of providing many of the amenities and little extras that you will appreciate. It is well equipped.

The villa has a wonderful Caribbean charm that is somewhat rustic but you cannot help but love....it is however showing it's age, which is the only reason we don't give it 5 stars. That said.. we live on the Caribbean water ourselves and know how difficult it is to keep on top of the damage the salt air creates. There is a price for having the waves crash at your doorstep. The owner has another property nearby and was on island when we were at the villa. She was attentive yet not overbearing and is committed to not only keep the property up but get ahead of the damage nature plays on those who live near the sea.

Overall it was a great experience and we would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Owner's Response: Dear Doug and Shelly, Thank you so much for your kind review! As you both know well, living on the beach yourselves , the beach and sea salt blast can make things difficult to keep up with! Salt air will rust things almost immediately, that's why we paint our Villa every year, inside and out! I was able to repair the pillar for the deck that the sea undermined the afternoon you left! The price we pay for living OVER the water! Lol, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Location, location, location! We just love the wonderful 18th century antiques that decorate the Villa! The charm they give reminds me of an Ernest Hemmingway retreat which gives the house its rustic look! Exactly the look I was looking for, but not everyone likes antiques. Totally understand! Chef is a wonderful caretaker! He's like a son to us! Chef enjoys meeting all our guests and gives each the attention to detail and services you find at expensive hotels! Chef does this all with a genuine commitment and enthusiasm to providing each guest with a wonderful vacation experience! We really appreciate your "Great Customer Service", We strive to do just that! We hope your enjoyed you next stop Ouallie in Nevis? Thanks again, Suzanne & Chef

We so enjoyed this 'away from it all' property

  • 5 of 5

We always prefer to stay in a place where you might get to know local people and self-cater.

The morning and evening views from the 'deck' were stunning and we spent simply hours watching pelicans diving for fish.
