Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a wonderful time. The Lodge was perfect for our family. We would recommend it to all our friends -- although we would like to keep it a secret so we could make sure it would be available to us again. Thank you so much for a wonderful 'all we needed' experience. We even got to see a few bears -- you couldn't even imagine our excitement. Thanks so much.

Super Sorority Sanctuary!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was perfect for our sorority reunion! The cabin is just far away enough from Asheville and Black Mountain to feel like we'd escaped the city, but close enough so there were cute places to eat and shop. We had all of the necessary football channels. The kitchen table was perfect for a large group--we didn't have to feel crowded. The views are amazing! The sleeping arrangements were perfect--plenty of room for everyone and more than enough bathroom space for a bunch of women to get ready in the morning.

Though we usually go somewhere different every year, the Wildcat is a serious contender for a "do-over" in the coming years.

great house

  • 5 of 5

Wildcat lodge was a perfect house for our little reunion. The house was very clean and organized and it was located in a very quiet area. Great kitchen and living room for relaxing and the fact that every bedroom had it's own bathroom was a major perk!

Love it here!

  • 5 of 5

I booked this cabin for my husbands 30th Birthday and surprised him with 4 couple friends being there! This cabin was perfect because each couple was able to have their own bedroom and bathroom, so we all had privacy! We loved the big kitchen and the fact that we could prepare meals and all sit down together at the table! Rebecca, the owner was wonderful and always got right back to me with any questions I had during the six month period I had been planning this, and even had a birthday surprise there for my husband! We liked how private it was and the fact that there weren't any other cabins near by. There was an awesome hike to a 100 foot waterfall right in the neighborhood with the trailhead only being 1.5 miles from the cabin.

The only downfalls-garbage is an issue we did not anticipate. 10 people accumulate a lot of garbage especially when cooking. The garbage dump was a considerable distance from the cabin, we managed but be prepared for that. Also, the town of Asheville itself was a bit further than we had anticipated (about 45 minutes to downtown) because it takes so long to go down the mountain. However, we didn't mind skipping trips into town and replacing them with sitting around the bonfire and playing ping pong at night. We had a wonderful trip and nobody wanted to leave! I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone and hope we can all get together again to come back!

Owner's Response: You were so great to work with, Brittany, and I'm so happy you all had a good time! What a special time you all had celebrating your husband''s 30th birthday. I truly wish we had an alternative for the trash, and am grateful that you all 'took it in stride'. Please visit us again!

We enjoyed staying at Wildcat Lodge! My husband and I went with several other couples and the house was the perfect size! Thee was plenty to do at the house and Asheville was just a short drive down the mountain! We will definitely be back for a stay in the future!

Great for large family and a good time

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Wildcat Lodge during the week of July 4th and had a blast. The lodge is a great place to come home to. Indeed it feels very home-like. We had 10 adults and 4 children and had plenty of room. The lodge is built with beautiful detail and yet has a little wear and tear that made it so we didn't feel like we had to walk on egg shells. It feels lived in and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a privilege to stay in such a lovely place.

We never met anyone associated with the property. All arrangements and payments were made online and everything went as promised; including the refund of our deposit. Our favorite parts of the home were the deck with the little fire-pit on it and the game room. We all sat around the fire most evenings talking and taking in the night sky. We liked the location being about 30-40 minutes from Asheville and up in a gated community; albeit, not crowded with homes. You only see a few other homes on your drive back to the lodge. You don't have a view, but the beauty of the home and the remote location make it worth it. There are plenty of views as you drive anywhere from here!

Thank you for sharing this lodge with my family. We had a great time and hope to return!

Owner's Response: I truly hope you'll return, also. Even though we never met, we emailed, sent and received text messages and I felt our communication was great. Thanks for enjoying our house and the hike to the Falls with John.
