About Susan Colwell

Well, here's a little about me. . . .I'm married to the best guy on the planet-Cerphe (pronounced Surf), we have a feline child-Poncey and I host a travel show on Eco Planet Radio called TravelGal. (Please check it out!) :-)

Recently, two very dear friends of mine and I fell in love with an enchanting row house in Baltimore's Little Italy. I daydreamed about it, walked around the neighborhood and discovered wonderful Italian restaurants, an amazing bakery, the cutest wine bar ever, the waterfront promenade and on and on! Each time I turned a corner there was more. Then!!!! Just when I thought it couldn't get any better--I discovered a Starbucks, Whole Foods, movie theater and incredible shopping along the Inner Harbor only two blocks away!

So my dear friends and I bought that cutie-pie house and turned it into an elegant corporate and family retreat /super-cool pied a terre.

Susan Colwell purchased this house in 2014

Why Susan Colwell chose Little Italy

This is such a WONDERFUL area of Baltimore. It's like stepping back in time. The neighborhood is charming, safe and lovely— chock full of wonderful Italian restaurants, even a cozy little wine bar and popular bakery. There are tons of festivals and events in this neighborhood and in the summer time, they even play an outdoor movie (Friday nights) and all the neighbors bring their lawn chairs. It's just magical.

What makes this house unique

The property was built in 1850 and is so charming and cozy with it's exposed brick and good energy that it makes you want to burrow in, read a book or watch movies and unwind. But with all the shopping, dining and the Inner Harbor only steps away, the city draws you out. I also paid close attention to the comfort of the beds and house amenities like coffee, tea, sugar, hand soap, etc. All the little extras that make a home away from home feel functional and homey. I hope you enjoy what we've done!

Fantastic house, location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Thanksgiving week here, and it was wonderful. The property itself is wonderful, 3 large bedrooms, a decent kitchen, and enough bathrooms. The two rooftop decks are great. And the neighborhood is awesome. The walkability of the neighborhood was really nice. There are more restaurants in walking distance than you can count. We will definitely consider coming back.

Little Italy

  • 5 of 5

We have loved out stay here. Well stocked with essential items. Best part is it is smack in the middle of the best of Little Italy. A few blocks from the Aquarium and the marina. Decent parking. Good communication with the owner's. I would definitely stay here the next time I am in Baltimore.

Quiet, clean and updated!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place was such a great find for a girls trip for me and some friends. Plenty of room for everyone with 3 bedrooms and the pullout couches. Loved the roof top deck! Was quiet and we felt safe. Walking distance from groceries, and both quick and sit-down restaurants. Updated and clean. Also, the owner was sooooo friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this Italian Charmer!

What a gem!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this home and our time in Little Italy.

The house itself was nicely furnished and the large beds (all kings and queens) are a great touch. The showers have good water pressure and the heads are mounted high (any tall person who's had to duck to wash their hair in a hotel shower will know what I mean.)

The location couldn't be better. There are a Whole Foods and a CVS a block away for all the necessities, plus more restaurants than you can count. It was an easy walk to Port Discover and the Aquarium. The Science Center is a touch further, but still walkable (especially if it's not too hot!)

Normally I like to stay in a new place every time but the next time I'm in Baltimore this will be my first choice.

Perfect place for Baltimore vacation

  • 5 of 5

You couldn't ask for a better place to stay in Baltimore. You're within walking distance, generally less than a half a mile to everywhere that you would like to go. House was clean and well appointed, beds comfortable, plenty of pillows, towels and everything else that you would want. It is a typical Baltimore row house that is been re-done beautifully. After a day of sightseeing it was nice to come back and enjoy just relaxation before going out for dinner. Please be aware though that this house is right on a busy street and people walk by all the time and you can hear the cars. It is not soundproof, but that's part of the charm of being in charm city. Would definitely stay there again when we go back.
