About the property

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

It's vacation time. Time to relax, forget about the real world for awhile, and just have fun. I remember every summer growing up vividly, because we went back to the same house at the beach for years. In fact, it was like seeing an old friend after another year at school. We had changed, but the house was still the same quaint and cozy home that we couldn't wait to get back to. That is our goal in sharing our little slice of paradise with you......Welcome Home!

This cozy North Pacific Beach cottage is centrally located and walking distance to all. Coffee in the lush, cozy garden, a beach cruiser ride around the bay, 5 blocks to the beach for some surf and sun, BBQ on the back yard patio, stroll down Garnet Ave. for some nightlife, curl up with a book , watch a movie or surf the's all there for you.

This charming 1940's 2 bedroom home is tastefully decorated for your pleasure. Hardwood floors and plantation shutters accent the old world plaster walls with decorative architectural designs. Cable TV and Wi-Fi Internet throughout the entire house. Completely remodeled bathroom with travertine shower and floors. Fully stocked kitchen for your cooking pleasure, or walk 2 blocks for countless dining choices.

The cozy backyard, with it's lush tropical setting, is perfect for reading a book, taking a nap, or entertaining around the BBQ. Outdoor shower to rinse off the sand after a day at the beach. Surfboards, boogie boards, cooler, beach's all there just waiting for you.

About Astrid Lubsen Page

I moved to San Diego in 1986 with the Navy and have been here ever since. I bought the house in 1991 and lived here for the next 11 years. I married my wife in 2001 and we have 2 very active boys (13) and (11). We live less than a mile from the house and stay in touch with friends and neighbors as we manage the property ourselves.

Astrid Lubsen Page purchased this cottage in 1991

Why Astrid Lubsen Page chose Pacific Beach

The central location is hard to beat. We are far enough away from the beach to beat the crowds and still enjoy our quiet street, yet close enough to be there in 4 minutes. The bay (5 blocks to the south) is perfect for taking the beach cruisers out for an easy ride around it, or walk! The proximity to Henry's Market, 1 block away is perfect. ( We miss that convenience, where we live now!)

PB is the fun place to be! Walk to Garnet Ave (2 blocks away) and enjoy the many bars and restaurants, where everyone want to be.

What makes this cottage unique

Just walk out the front door to get your groceries at the Henrey's Market or do a little shopping at the many casual shops here on Garnet Ave (just a block away from the house) Have lunch at one of the many great eateries and enjoy a day at the beach, or at Kate Sessions Park with it's gorgeous view of San Diego.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Tom and Family,

My family and I had a wonderful time at your holiday home. It was perfect for our needs. The house was beautifully decorated, with a kitchen stocked with useful utensils....made cooking feel almost like home.

We loved P.B. town and all the interesting "finds". We made full use of the boogie boards and the outside shower was fantastic. My son was sad to leave, as were all of us. It means we had a lovely vacation. This could be an annual visit for us, and we hope to stay here again.

Good to have met you. All the best. Shelomi and family

perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

my husband and I stayed here for a month while looking for something more permanent. You cannot beat the location and all that the area has to offer. Some of our new favorite restaurants and coffee shops were just a 5-10 min walk away. Walked or rode the bikes to the beach almost daily! Owners were very kind in making sure we were enjoying our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in San Diego.

Great cottage in an excellent location

  • 5 of 5

The two of us were here for a month and enjoyed all of it. We could easily walk or take the bikes to the ocean or mission bay. Sprouts and Trader Joe's are close by along with all the restaurants and bars you could ask for.

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

Astrid and Tom's place was fantastic! My wife and I and our 2-year old loved it. The location was close enough to the action in Pacific Beach that we had all we wanted, but far enough away that we were never bothered by the noise. 5-6 blocks to the beach allowed us to enjoy sunsets easily, and a 10-minute walk to Trader Joe's meant we had no problem stocking up! Great coffee and restaurants minutes away. Astrid was kind enough to drop a high chair off for our daughter during our stay; anything we needed, they responded to very quickly.

If you are looking for a weekend or up to a week stay with your days spent at the beach this might be ok. But if you want a longer, comfortable stay this is not for you. The beds are hard, the furniture old and used, and kitchen is inadequate . Like everything else the distance to the beach is exaggerated.

Owner's Response: It was a big surprise to see Mike K's review! Specially since we asked him repeatedly throughout their stay if everything was to their liking, and if there was anything they would like to change or add. (Something we do with all our guests!) Mike never mentioned anything other than the ant problem, to which we responded immediately by sending an exterminator, who took care of the problem immediately! Mike never mentioned anything about the beds being too hard or the furniture too old. The first day or so I even asked to find out if they slept comfortably that first night! Nothing was mentioned! We have never had any complaints regarding the beds in the past, except for a couple who was over 6ft. So I decided to check the beds out for myself and wasn't totally happy with them either, (my husband thought they were comfortable though!) We decided to buy a whole new queen size bed with extra memory foam topper anyway, and added 2 new twin mattresses for the second bedroom. We had the new beds in there in 2 days! I only wish Mike and his wife would have let me know they weren't happy when they were staying there, because we could have made their stay so much more comfortable! I also checked to see if my information regarding the distance to the beach was correct, and I'm happy to say it still is 5 blocks away from the beach:)

Awesome location - beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect location for my fiance and I to stay while visiting my son in PB. We walked to the beach, coffee shops, Sprouts Market and the shops and restaurants on Garnet. The house was immaculate and exactly as pictured! We loved cooking out on the grill, relaxing in the backyard, and took advantage of pretty much every amenity included - the boogie boards, beach cart and umbrella, the hammock and the outdoor shower! Don't worry - there's an absolutely amazing indoor walk-in shower too! We had no problem finding parking on the street and the neighborhood was very quiet at night. We cannot wait to stay here again on our next visit to San Diego!

Quaint, clean, quiet and convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Beach Cottage! The home is located in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to everything. The owners were over the top accommodating, even during the holiday weekend they responded to questions immediately. The home was clean and inviting and the pictures and description of the cottage were spot on. We WILL definitely stay at this home again when returning to San Diego. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home!!
