About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

(Alojamento Local 8588/AL)

Bright, daylight filled, 5th floor apartment is located on Rua Nova do Almada, in CHIADO, has a privilege location in the heart of the cultural and historical part of the city.

Very close to several museums, operas, theaters and churches. A few minutes walk takes you to the Rossio, in the Baixa, and to the Elevador da Lavra. The other direction, you will reach the Praça do Comércio, which is located in the center of the Portuguese old empire near the river Tejo (Tagus). To go to Sintra you must take the train at Rossio. To go to Óbidos you have Entre-Campos train station or Campo-Grande bus station, which is just a short subway trip from Chiado.

Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historical Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby is the theater S. Luis and the opera D. Carlos as well as the theatre D. Maria II in Rossio.

Close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machines, public transportations (bus, trains, subway and electric trams) and 24 hour taxi stands, etc.

A little further up on the left is Camões Square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish; part of Lisbon's nightlife seems to be concentrated in this quarter, which was frequented to hear the sentimental 'fados' sung in certain restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are 'the' meeting point for locals and tourists, with elegant hotels, old cafés, and the best international fashion shops nearby.

Lisbon Sightseeing - It operates both open-top bus tours and trams. Bus trips are the 'Circuito Tejo', which goes out to Belém as well as other parts of the city, or the (Expresso Oriente' which visits the Parque das Nações. The tram does the 'Circuito das Colinas' (Hill Circuit) which embraces the 28 route through Graça, Alfama, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Estrela and Campo de Ourique.

Trams also operate a Circuito dos Descobrimentos to Belém.

Accommodation comprises one bedroom with a king size bed (180 x 200 cm) and 2 futon beds (perfect for children), living room with dining and sitting areas with a sofa bed (170 x 200 cm), one full bathroom and a second small bathroom (no shower) and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has air-conditioning and heating in all the rooms. This privileged location offers easy access by foot to the subway (Chiado/Baixa station – 40 m).

Please note that a traditional Portuguese Breakfast is available for an extra charge of EUR 18 for 2 persons, available upon request.

Fabulous apartment in the heart of Lisbon.

  • 5 of 5

We were fortunate enough to have this wonderful apartment for seventeen days - location and view are unbeatable.

We were greeted by Luis who explained everything and who was extremely helpful.

The apartment had everything that we could possibly need for our vacation with space to spare.

Our mornings would start with coffee and breakfast watching the day start and overlooking the magnificent waterfront.

Should our travels bring us back to Lisbon, this is the apartment we would choose.

Thank you to the team for making our stay in Lison so enjoyable.

A fabulous stay!

  • 5 of 5

I cant say enough positives things about the apartment. There was great communication with Paulo prior to our arrival concerning nearby activities, transportation and any questions about the surrounding area. Paulo greeted us when we arrived in Lisbon & gave a full explanation about the apartment.

The apartment..... Wow. It is spacious, clean, has incredible views from the floor to ceiling shutter windows and has everything we needed for our stay.

It was within walking distance to so many things, the train station, many restaurants, shopping, bike rentals and sights. We hope to revisit soon!!

Thank You Paulo!

Perfect location; Gracious hosts

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, huge apartment in a perfect location, easily walkable to the Bairro Alto and the Baixa, with a metro station just down some stairs across the street. The area is steep so might not be the perfect street for everyone, but there's an elevator in the building and you can use the elevator in the Armazens do Chiado shopping mall across the street to get up/down to the Baixa if you're tired at the end of the day. There's even a taxi stand directly across the street.

Everything in the apartment worked beautifully, especially the wonderful water pressure. The late-night passersby on the street can be loud but the huge windows can be closed and shuttered to keep the noise and light out.

Luis, Sylvia, Paulo and Andreia couldn't have been more efficient, good humored, and gracious hosts. They arranged for our transfers to/from the airport, gave us great recommendations for places to eat, and even dropped off football tickets we'd ordered in advance that were delivered to their office.

We'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Nothing could be finer!

  • 5 of 5

After exiting the Metro only a half-block from the apartment and getting completely lost, Luis came to our rescue. If you want an apartment almost as big as your first home, an almost-private elevator, with many floor to ceiling door/windows that open wide and a balcony around the entire apartment providing great views, this is the place. Our 8 days here were truly memorable. Luis was ready to help in every way possible including arranging for our 4:00 am taxi departure to the airport. Nearly every day, we left early, came home late and never felt the least bit apprehensive, whether on the Metro or in the neighborhood. And we’re well in our 70s!! The apartment was super clean with beautiful squares, a well-stocked grocery store, nice shopping, River Tejo, the Metro, countless outdoor cafes, and the best ice cream in Lisbon (Santini’s), all within short (albeit steep) walking distance. We loved this apartment and Lisbon!

Great location

  • 3 of 5

On the positive side, the apartment was spacious, had a bit of a view and was very well located. It was reasonably quiet for a city apartment and benefitted from having a nice washer/dryer, ok wifi (good in living room, less so in the bedroom), many tv channels in several languages, and a somewhat comfortable bed. The greeting staff was very professional and helpful. On the negative side, other than the bed, the furniture, especially the sofas and seating were very old and uncomfortable and the awkward lighting placement made it difficult to read. The stove did not work properly (burners did not work and we could not get it to boil water for pasta) and the coffee maker was poor, rendering use of the kitchen difficult (and why no sharp knife?). We did not try using the oven or dishwasher. While with some attention to comfort and function and a bit of decor, this apartment could be very nice, as it was it seemed very overpriced compared to alternatives despite the size and great location. If we returned to Lisbon, we would seek elsewhere unless the price were reduced to match the value received.

Owner's Response: Hello Thanks for your feedback about your stay. We didn't received any contact from you during your stay about these problems. The issues with the burners are easily fixed or just replaced. We could deliver a sharp knife any time. Sometimes the cleaning team don't notice these issues, and we apologize for it, but a simple call to us would had solved it. Thanks, Paulo

Fabulous stay

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was perfect for our first visit to Lisbon. It is perched above the center of action with many good restaurants within walking distance, very near a metro stop, and has views of both the river and the castle. The apartment itself is huge! The bed is comfortable. There is a large amount of space for clothes and luggage storage. While we did not cook, the kitchen appeared to be well outfitted. The laundry is complete with a clothes rack, iron and ironing board. We did not need the air conditioner. The bathroom lacks storage space, and is somewhat small for such a large apartment. It is no more noisy than any apartment in a metropolitan area.

Arrangements were efficient and pleasant.

We would definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to friends.
