Serene Get-Away in the Heart of the City

Bedrooms 1
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Studio unit with queen-sized Murphy bed close to downtown and buses

This charming studio is the perfect get-away! Cozy, comfortable, and homey. It's an efficiency, and comes with a queen-sized Murphy bed. The backyard is so peaceful and serene, it's hard to believe you're merely blocks away from 4-star restaurants.

The studio is in the basement of my 1909 Craftsman bungalow, with its own separate entrance. It's newly renovated. The kitchenette has a small stove top, microwave, refrigerator, pans, dishes, spices, everything you need to do as much or as little cooking as you'd like! The front of the Murphy bed folds down into a desk, so you can work or write. You have access to my WiFi network, as well as a washer and dryer. There's also a TV with basic cable, DVD player, and some DVDs.

Public transportation is readily available. Great restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques are all in walking distance. Don't rent a car unless you really need one. Street parking is available, but if you'd like, I can offer you off-street parking for an extra $10/night.

My neighborhood continues to grow in density. I host a lot of parents coming to see their kids, who are either at college or living nearby.

About The Owner

I have lived and traveled all over the world. Seattle is my home now. I've been here the longest I've ever lived anywhere (over 10 years now.) I love this place, and I love sharing it with other people. I try to eat at a different restaurant every week, so I'm pretty knowledgeable about the local food scene.

I'm a full time novelist, so I'm around all day. When the weather is nice, I will be sharing the backyard with you, working outside all day.

The Owner purchased this house in 2011

Why The Owner chose Capitol Hill

I love Seattle, and I think you will too.

What makes this house unique

It's such a short walk to everything here. If you like walking, you can easily go to Interlaken, which is a couple of square miles of wilderness in the heart of the city. Or you can walk downtown. The restaurants in the area are fabulous, and many of the specialize in local and organic food. You're also in walking distance of five grocery stores, in case you want to do some of your own cooking.

Great place to stay in an awesome neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The yard is really pretty and I’m sad we didn’t get a chance to use the fire pit. The DVD collection is great, and it really is in walking distance of a lot of fun restaurants and cafes and convenient to buses and the light rail. We weren’t there a whole lot and we never tried to cook anything, but everything looks nice. I’d totally stay here again next time I’m in Seattle.

Leah is great - so is her place!

  • 5 of 5

Leah was there to greet us the second we stepped out of our Uber from the airport. The place was spotless and all ready for us. She was welcoming and made us feel right at home. If I come back to visit Seattle I'll have a hard time trying something new - Leah was great!

Small and lacking privacy

  • 2 of 5

The bed was super uncomfortable. The house might have been fine had the owners not been above us the entire time. Walls were not remotely sound proof and they congregated in the laundry room right outside of our door. A door we could not lock and which "mysteriously" opened twice during our stay. We will not be staying there again.

Owner's Response: I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay! I'm also sorry that our noise intruded on your vacation. As for the door, this is an old house. Sometimes, when the front door opens or closes, the interior doors will open or close as well. There was nothing sinister going on. If you really felt in danger, or that you weren't safe, you should have contacted VRBO and reported it. I am disappointed that you didn't contact me about this and give me a chance to fix it. Since I was at home, I would have done whatever I could have to make your stay more pleasant.

Acworth, GA

Seattle Studio Apt.

  • 4 of 5

Cute eclectic studio apt with lovely back yard. One short block from bus lines to Pike's Place Market and Seattle Center. We ate all meals out, but glass stove top burner available for those who desire to make a quick/light meal in. Great coffee and tea provided. Leah is flexible and will hold bags if you want to finish up sightseeing and have late departure from SEA.
