Spend time on a farm with spectacular views and lovely amenities. Mayflower Cottage is the prettiest place to experience springtime and summer in the Berkshires. Spring will bring forsythia, daffodils and baby lambs in addition to long views of the morning sunrise out of the kitchen windows to the east and warm afternoon sunsets to the west, where you'll see Jug End Mountain.
The Cottage is newly renovated and furnished. It has a fantastic kitchen and large farm table to accommodate the 'farm-to-table' experience. Surrounded by acres of protected pasture and hay fields with a southeast facing deck and screened porch.
The Cottage is on the Appalachian Trail 1 mile from the Jug End Road trailhead.
It is walking distance (1 mile) from South Egremont center where there is a country store, library, school house, post office, bank and fine restaurant.
South Egremont has a nine hole golf course at the Egremont Country Club which is open to the public. It is 2 miles from the cottage. Mayflower Farm has a tennis court available on the property.

About Peter and Ellen Maggio
Mayflower Farm has been in our family since 1973. Peter and Ellen have raised three daughters here in Berkshire County and have also been raising sheep since 1997. In 2010 the farm property across the road was available and the family purchased it. Adding the cottage and the barns to the sheep enterprise has been valuable. The entire farm consists of approximately 30 acres of owned and leased land, much of it conserved.
Peter and Ellen Maggio purchased this House in 2010
Why Peter and Ellen Maggio chose South Egremont
The guests at Mayflower Farm all agree that the views from the house are stunning! And, it's fun to watch the sheep.
What makes this House unique

Lovely house in gorgeous setting
We just spent 3 days over the holidays in this charming winter wonderland. The house itself is immaculate, well designed and bright. It has everything you need, including a cozy wood burning stove that kept us very toasty. The house is part of a sheep farm and my young adult kids loved documenting the comings and goings of the sheep on social media. It snowed overnight and by early the next morning our drive way was plowed. The owners were very responsive to questions before we arrived. I highly recommend!
Clean, spacious, well organized , and charming.
We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning!
We loved our time at the Mayflower Cottage! The setting was spectacular with views of the Berkshires and adorable sheep. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful mountain getaway which lets you feel isolated while also being within minutes of Downtown Great Barrington. Would return anytime! Thanks so much Peter and Ellen! You made our stay in the Berkshires very memorable!
Beautiful, peaceful, welcoming
Beautiful house, peaceful setting, lovely welcoming hosts. Sitting on the screened-in porch, listening to the singing of birds and the baa-ing of sheep--we were there for a long holiday weekend, but felt, at the end, as if we'd been away for a month vacation. Hard to leave, eager to return!
Quiet and Private
The house is Extremely clean with a very open floor plan that made it a very comfortable stay for all of us.
Heaven on earth
Clean, cozy ,comfortable place with an awesome kitchen and spacious and relaxing living areas. Sitting on the patio on a cool September day watching the sheep graze as the sun rises and the fog burns off is perhaps the best therapy money can buy. Ellen and Peter are gracious hosts and have done a spectacular job with this cottage. I wish I could live here. We will certainly return. I already miss the sheep!
