Welcome to Mint Cottage, our charming, Craftsman style bungalow located just 5 minutes from downtown. As you open the white picket gate out front you’ll feel yourself go back in time and place. This recently renovated 1912 bungalow has all the amenities for the perfect getaway AND it is conveniently located to all that Asheville has to offer-amazing restaurants and shopping, the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway and many outdoor adventure activities. Enjoy the comfort of your own home away from home in our cottage on a quiet neighborhood street.
The three bedrooms are furnished with two double beds and one queen with high thread count sheets, quilts and down comforters.
The house is decorated with comfortable furniture, antiques and unique art. The cheerful yellow and blue kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need to cook a full meal, reheat, take out, or pop some croissants into the oven while your coffee is brewing. There is a full sized washer and dryer in the home.
A door from the kitchen leads you onto a deck in the fenced in backyard. Your dog will love having the doggie door to run in and out while you relax, cook out on the barbecue, watch the birds at the feeder, or explore the neighborhood. A locked shed can store your bikes.

Jeff and Meryl live in Charleston, SC. We have been married for 39 years and have two children, 2 grandchildren, 2 dogs and a cat. We love to travel and met while backpacking in Europe when we were in college. Having a place in Asheville gives us the best of both worlds-Beach and Mountains. Meryl is originally from NJ and is an artist and Jeff is a proud Kentuckian, loves gardening and bicycling.
The Owner purchased this bungalow in 2002
We purchased our Asheville house when our daughter was a student at UNCA. After she graduated we decided to renovate it and use it as a mountain getaway. We love the character of a 1912 home but with all modern conveniences. We love the cool mountain weather and the abundance of activities in and around Asheville. It is great to stroll around downtown and see what is happening-there always seems to be a festival, a street fair, or other excitement going on. If you love the arts, there are plenty of galleries and the new River Arts District. There is every kind of outdoor activity-on a recent trip we went tubing and berry-picking. If you love craft beer, Asheville was just voted #1 Beer City in the US!
You will love Mint Cottage, appropriately named for the abundance of mint growing in the front yard. It is a lovely location in a residential neighborhood, but walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops and Ultimate Ice Cream-the best in Asheville!! The house is comfortable, snug and very clean. It is colorfully and artistically decorated with many of the artist owner's personal touches. We are dog-friendly, with fenced front and back yards and a doggy door. We have a notebook of menus from our favorite restaurants as well as suggestions of where to shop, what to see and what to do! There is a deck for outdoor relaxing. There is off street parking for two cars.
I have spent the past two summers at Mint Cottage and have so enjoyed my time there. The location is perfect for walking to town and also the many neighborhoods restaurants. After spending the summers in Asheville I realized that I needed to live here , therefore I bought a home. So now the rest of you have the opportunity to experience the joy of staying at Mint Cottage for the summer. I know you will enjoy it as much as I have.
We enjoyed the neighborhood, and walking our dog to the park. The library stops throughout are a pleasure too. You can walk to Asheville Yoga Center, restaurants, and the veterinary clinic (of you bring your pet).
The home has some quirks, but you get used to them. We stayed there for five weeks, and felt right at home.
I had the most wonderful experience staying at Mint Cottage. I felt so comfy, cozy and at home there. You really just need to bring you clothes and toothbrush - well I brought my Keurig (never leave home without it). The area is perfect to walk downtown in about 20 minutes. The neighboorhood restaurants are fantastic too. Be sure to try Homegrown - best southern fried chichen, Vinnie's - best Italian. And don't forget to walk a block to "Ultimate Icecream". I made that walk a few too many times!!! Thank you Meryl for making your home feel like my home too. You can be sure I'll be back next summer.
My husband, dog and I spent from mid-October through November at the Mint Cottage. We really enjoyed staying in a place that felt like home. We work remotely, so the house was a perfect size for us. We used the 2nd and 3rd rooms/ bedrooms as offices. We loved the backyard. Even though you are walking distance to downtown Asheville, the backyard makes you feel like you are far from town. The property backs up to a creek and a wooded area. We loved the location. You can walk to the grocery store (there are two!), the Asheville Yoga Center, High Five coffee, and a few restaurants (HomeGrown, Luella's BBQ). It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to walk to downtown and it is hilly. We loved this area so much that we moved into the house right next door! So, please feel free to say hello if you stay at the Mint Cottage! We are in the bright blue house :)
We had a great time- Meryl had everything we needed and it was definitely a kid friendly house!
We liked the location of this very much, so close to downtown. We walked some of the neighborhood and liked it as well. We have dogs so it was a nice get away with them and they liked the doggy door,we may have to get one! It's such a nice house that we want to get back there. We had a fire two of the nights in the fire pit area and grilled a couple of times. We were very comfortable!
