We should have stayed for 2 weeks!
This rental delivers exactly what it states. It's very clean and comfortable cottage on a picturesque setting on the water. Really really relaxing and quiet cove you can paddle or swim on. We paddled over to several small coves and Sandy P oints for picnics and fishing, the stripers had moved out into cooler water, but my 11 yr old was happy to catch crabs and minnows the beach. No AC but that wasn't a problem, the evening temp and breeze made it great for sleeping. We found it easy to drive or bike into Vinyard Haven, or drop down to Edgardtown or south beach. If you rent this cottage, you will probably notice how quiet the point is, and how little traffic comes up the road. You can bbq on the charcoal grill, or get to several restuarants in VH in 5 minutes even if traffic is busy. Overall, we loved staying here and plan to go back next year.
This is a fantastic 'Old Style Vineyard' cottage in a perfect Vineyard spot - right on the water. It is down a long quiet peninsula, and yet still near town.
We have stayed there in the summer and in the fall and loved both. The water is just at the end of their meadow and the view from the living room and yard is amazing. We especially enjoy watching the sunset and birds in the wind swept cedar trees. In the fall the wood stove makes it seem especially cozy. Michael could not be more helpful- he has thoroughly answered any questions we've had. If you want a restful, reinvigorating vacation right on the water this could well be your cottage.
Beautiful, Comfortable Cottage
We've been coming to the cottage for several years with our two children. It's the perfect mix of a quiet retreat and a place that is close to everything. A quick bike ride to Vineyard Haven and a slightly longer one to Oak Bluffs. It's an easy trip to any of the main beaches, restaurants and site seeing.
Our children love the meadow and the little beach. My wife and I love taking in the sunset views from the lawn chairs or from the table over dinner. There's plenty of room for our small family and an extra loft for a visiting friend or relative.
There's access to every activity you can think of on the Vineyard, and an escape from every activity when you just want to relax and let be.
I would definitely recommend this house.
My wife and I have been coming to the Vineyard for more than a decade now and this is the first time we've loved a place so much that we've wanted to return. We have two young children and the meadow and the little beach on the quiet lagoon were just perfect for us. It's not far from Vineyard Haven and the trip to Oak Bluffs makes a good bike ride. The house is very comfortable and has enough space that we were fine even on the rainy days.
My personal favorite aspect to the house is the wonderful view. Any time of day in any weather, the view through the windows over the lagoon is just idyllic; perfect from a chair with coffee, tea, a beer or a glass of wine.
Though my wife and I had already quietly made up our minds to return this year, my five year old daughter came up to me one morning near the end of November and asked, "Daddy, can we go back to the summer house we stayed at this year?" Needless to say, we're booked again for this summer - can't wait.
Great rustic cottage
We had a great family vacation at this very clean, rustic cottage!
It was extremely private, which is something we always look for in a rental. The neighborhood was truly convenient. We loved the fact that we could let our two oldest daughters (armed with many rules of course) bike into town. We also rented a kayak for the week which was wonderful and made for some memorable family time.
Loved it so much, we are returning this summer......
A Special Place
What a wonderful spot to get away from it all and be surrounded by the beauty of the Vineyard! Our family has been enjoying vacations here for over three decades, and this charming cottage seems to get better each year. We treasure the spacious lawn and meadow, beautiful views of the water and town beyond, sunsets from the patio, the woods and the privacy, our many feathered visitors, the stairs to the beach, wading in the lagoon and lazing in the sun, beachcombing, swimming, kayaking, fishing -- and much more. We love being here, and often during the cold New England winters we dream about our next visit!
Our cottage has a private beach on the Vineyard Haven Lagoon. It's safe for little children to splash and swim in the calm, warm waters and collect shells while adults relax on the beach.
