About the property

2100SF House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

IT'S NOT TOO SOON TO THINK ABOUT YOUR WINTER SKI LEASE! We're accepting applications for the 2016-17 Season; 5-month leases (Dec-Apr) preferred.

This fabulous west shore location is ideal for your summer vacation as well as a great winter retreat! The Tahoe Rim trailheads, Ward Creek path and other great trails are right here on your street. Add nearby Sunnyside Resort, Firesign Cafe, Spoons, Kilner Park and Kent Beach to the mix and you have a winning combination! The home backs to greenbelt for a lovely view from the French doors and the rear deck.

The Hot Tub is illuminated with rope lights along the covered walkway at night - enchanting! Enjoy private forest views while relaxing in steamy comfort.

The home sleeps and seats 8-10 people comfortably. For your entertainment and comfort, this house includes: a wood-burning river rock fireplace; a 50” Plasma HDTV; Netflix; 50Mbps Wireless Internet; a fully equipped kitchen with SS appliances; a laundry area with full-sized washer and dryer; and programmable Wi-Fi F/A heat. Each bedroom is fully furnished with its own TV and VCR/DVD; the two extra large upstairs bedrooms also have desks, tables and extra seating; land line is provided to fill in the cell reception gaps.

Tahoe is full of wildlife, which is fascinating to look at but maybe not so great up close and personal. For your peace of mind, the house is equipped with an unobtrusive and easily operated Zareba Animal Repellant electrical fencing system. With Zareba on the job, you can relax! There is also a bear-proof garbage building for your use.

Check out our Rates and Reviews; you'll be so glad you chose Ward Creek for your Vacation Destination at the Lake!

For more information: a very detailed inventory list; sample applications and leases; rules and tips; and instructions for the bear repellant fence.

About Sandy Matarazzo

Hello from Rick and Sandy Matarazzo! We've been coming to Lake Tahoe since the 70's and chose it as our full time home in 1987. We enjoyed summer and winter sports for many years, but in 1995 we left the snow behind to travel in the colder months and made our home available for skiers. We explored the country in our Beaver motorhome and in 2000 we settled in Arizona's Happy Trails Resort as our winter homebase. Rick plays Pickleball and Billiards and I enjoy working with Stained Glass. In 2011, we added Sunriver, Oregon to our summer itinerary. Now that we're no longer staying at Ward Creek full time, we'd love to share the house both summer and winter with folks who enjoy the Tahoe lifestyle!

Sandy Matarazzo purchased this house in 1987

Why Sandy Matarazzo chose Lake Tahoe West Shore CA

We love the entire Tahoe area, but we especially enjoy the Westshore. It's got the Old Tahoe feel to it, with small neighborhood grocery stores and more open space to enjoy. You can hear Ward Creek right across the street from the house. The home backs to conservancy greenbelt so you can walk out either the front and back doors to skiing and hiking trails. The home's on a nice wide street, walking distance to Sunnyside Resort, Spoons or the Firesign Cafe. You're only 5 minutes from town by car. This location combines the great outdoors with all the conveniences!

What makes this house unique

The Hot Tub has a roof over it to keep the snow off and can be accessed via a covered walkway in the wintertime; your view from the Hot Tub and the back door is unspoiled forest....there is plenty of open space to snowshoe or dish.....the attached two-car Garage makes it so easy to get into the house when the snow starts piling up.....and you have peace of mind that the bears won't invade your personal space because the house is protected by Zareba's Predator Repellant Electrical Fence.

Perfect weekend getaway for Kids and Grandkids!

  • 5 of 5

This weekend getaway house was everything we could have hoped for and more! Clean, bear fence made it feel more secure, spacious, and very well stocked. We had everything we needed for meal preparations. And it was especially nice that my dog was able to join our kids and grandkids as well. Only suggestion to owners is screen doors would have been a big plus! It was warm weather and the bugs were out so we either left doors open and bugs allowed in or we kept doors shut and it got warmer in house. Overall a great weekend and we'll try to do again!

Family vacation in August,2015

  • 4 of 5

Well situated cabin with nice back yard and landscaping. We enjoyed the hot tub and gas BBQ as well as the large backyard deck. There is ample parking for 4 cars/boats. House is well equipped with utensils, chairs and good beds. House is dark and would be improved with better lighting for reading. Close to hiking trails and Ward Creek.

Family vacation

  • 5 of 5

This home is beautiful and very well equipped. We have a large family and the rooms were good sized and the beds were very comfortable. Plenty of room for all of us to gather on the back deck with a hot tub which was perfect! It is in a good location for accessing the main road for entertainment and food. We really enjoyed our stay. We only wished that we had Beach Association access as we usually do when we stay on the west shore. Otherwise, it was a wonderful vacation home! Sandy was very accommodating also!

Perfect home for a stay on westshore Tahoe

  • 5 of 5

We rented this home for the week before and through the July 4th weekend. The home is wonderful and has everything you need to have a great time in Tahoe. The kitchen is very nice and has everything you need to prepare meals. We barbecued ribs for 12 people on the 4th and everything worked great. There was a new gas grill which was very nice and we used it almost every day. The deck in back was beautiful and looked out to forest. We loved having our coffee out there in the morning and cocktails in the afternoons. Beds are comfortable, great location. What more can I say. The bear deterrent system is nice especially after our last year experience (different home) where we had a bear hanging around our house for a day and a half. It went into our next door neighbor's house and stole a bag of dog food! Our dog loved chasing the chipmunks and birds behind the house. Sandy was a delight to work with. All in all definitely 5 star experience. You will love this home.

Perfect Tahoe Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, well kept "cottage" in a great location. Just up the road from the Sunnyside resort with easy access to beach parks, Tahoe City, Tahoe Rim Trail and all the lake communities have to offer. The beds are soooo comfy!! They're perfect after a hard day at play. The owners are easy to work with and leave the house well equipped for renters. There's plenty of everything; you need only bring food and drink. I would certainly stay there again.

Review of Sunnyside Tahoe Ski Lease

  • 5 of 5

We rented this Sunny Side home to attend a Family Reunion in the area. It was more than enough room for the 10 of us (6 adults and 4 teenagers). Plenty of parking for the 4 vehicles and just a few minutes up the road from the beach. This house was so well stocked we didn't want for ANYTHING!!! The kitchen had everything you could imagine you'd need for a large group including 2 coffee pots! The bathrooms were overstocked with new towels, washcloths and soaps, bed linens were also newer as were the very comfortable beds. The back deck had enough seating for about a dozen and they've done some landscape to enhance the natural beauty which is stunning. We had happy hour on the deck each evening as well as morning coffee and simply couldn't get enough of the outdoor space. We were concerned that the bear fence would be difficult to operate but it was very simple and gave us a great sense of security. The hot tub was prepped, clean, and ready to use when we got there. The owner's were super easy to work with, responded promptly to phone calls and emails before and during the rental period and even called us on check-in day to tell us we could check-in early as they knew we had flown in from out of state. We cannot say enough good things about this home in which the owner's obviously take great pride!!! We'll definitely be back as will our entire group!
