House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6-7)
A 3BR single level family house with a sleeping loft.
The bedrooms are:
* one double bedroom with a queen bed,
* one single bedroom with a twin bed, with pop-up trundel (becomes king sized bed)
* one single bedroom with bunk beds (twin sized), and
* a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds and a one twin trundle that pulls out between them (does not rise).
There is one full bath (bathtub with shower) and one half bath.
There is a large living/dining room with full windows across the front of the house, a family room and a sitting room with a gorgeous stone fireplace (unfortunately non-working) and a reading nook. The house features a beautiful open floor plan, post and beam construction, hardwood floors throughout, the stone fireplace, and an outdoor seating area with a dining table and chairs. It is an easy walk to the town beach at Lake Mahkeenac (Stockbridge Bowl) (3 houses down and across the street).
The house is equipped with Wifi, TV with DVD player, a washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, full refrigerator, central air and heat, linens and dishes/utensils. There are also two kayaks (a single and a double) and one canoe that may be used by guests. There is a 1 week minimum in the summer. Sorry we cannot accept pets and smoking is absolutely prohibited.
The house is in the ideal Berkshire location - halfway between the town centers of Lenox and Stockbridge and 1.5 miles from Tanglewood. Attractions within 5 to 10 minutes of the house include Berkshire Botanical Gardens, Naumkeag, Ventfort Hall, Shakespeare & Co., Berkshire Theater Co., Undermountain Stables, Bartlett Farm Orchards, Stockbridge's Mission House, Canyon Ranch, Kripalu, the Norman Rockwell Museum. Downhill skiing is 15 minutes away at Ski Butternut and a little farther are Jiminy Peak, Catamount and Otis Ridge. Excellent hiking, biking, boating, antiquing, shopping and spas abound.
While so much of the Berkshires is to be enjoyed outdoors, some good rainy day activities include matinees at any one of the local theaters (live or cinema), visiting a local museum (the Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield makes for a great day out with kids and the Clark in Williamstown is a first rate art museum) or for a more active day, there is bowling and mini-golf at the Cove Lanes in Great Barrington. Alternatively, you may just want to stay in, play games, do a puzzle or read a good book - we have plenty for you to use. Oh, and don't forget the outlets in Lee.

We are a family of five with three active children (ages 8-13) and a love of outdoor sports, family game night and the arts. We love that we can introduce our children to the arts in a setting where the arts are so important, but are also so playful that the children can really relate to what they see and hear.
Owner purchased this House in 2010
Why Owner chose Stockbridge
Our family chose the Berkshires for its natural beauty, abundant outdoor activities and cultural offerings. Only 2 hours from our home, it provides the ideal weekend getaway. It's a whole other world without requiring an exhausting journey. We have found ourselves at home here very quickly and are amazed that there is always something new to keep us engaged. We always look forward to coming back, year round.
What makes this House unique
We love coming up in the summer for the lakes, bike riding, horseback riding, the plays and Tanglewood. The children especially love the local food (mostly the SoCo ice cream and Taft Farm pies). We have found wonderful day camps here for all of them. In the fall we love the leaf peeping and harvest activities, antiquing and art museums. In the winter, we love the skiing, snowshoeing and the peacefulness. The spring brings all of the new babies to the farms and the biking and kayaking seasons begin again.

Easy, clean, nice stay
I really like how simple and straight forward the booking/check in/check out process was. My friends and I had a great stay, it was a good size for the 7 of us and had enough common space for all of us to hangout in one room. The house was very nice, and clean, we would definitely book again if we are in the area.
Thanks so much for choosing us for your vacation! Hope to see you again soon.
(3.5) Beautiful home in a great location!
This home is in a great location to experience Stockbridge and the surrounding area. The home was spacious enough for what we needed and allowed us to relax between our workshop sessions and recuperate nicely at night. We enjoyed the lake (right across the street!) and a number of great hikes while staying there for a program in the area. Guidos is a nice market not too far away for those interested in natural and organically minded foods.
Lauren’s home has plenty of places to sleep and we were able to easily negotiate the shower schedule between eight people during our stay. (Having the lake so close helped too). You may want to bring your own cookware if you don’t like non-stick pots & pans as well as some travel utensils/tools just in case. Plan ahead if you like to cook a certain way. Lauren was very helpful with the questions we had before and during our stay.
There were some pantry items including a fair amount of herbs, spices, and sweeteners which was nice to have as a supplemental option. We brought all our own food, herbs, etc or shopped for it after arriving and you may want to do the same - especially if you have preferences or dietary sensitivities.
If you have concerns with soap ingredients for the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry room, I’d recommend bringing your own. Bringing an essential oil diffuser was a great choice too. We were also glad to have brought our own tea kettle and water filter pitcher (the house water is filtered, but may have a mild sulfur quality to it). Again if you have questions about specifics, Lauren was helpful with all the questions we had.
Overall, it was worth staying there and I’d consider staying there again next time I’m in the area.
Exactly as advertised
And we loved the location as we go to Tanglewood a lot!
Comfortable home & fantastic location
This home was perfectly situated for everything that we wanted to do during our stay in the Berkshires. Breakfast on the patio every morning and watching the sunset from kayaks on the Stockbridge Bowl made it that much better. The owners were very responsive to all of our questions.
review of Stockbridge vacation home
My wife and I spent a great week in this comfortable Stockbridge vacation home. The home is perfectly located for the activities that we enjoy, halfway between Lenox and Stockbridge, and it is just across the street from swimming at the Stockbridge Town Beach. We had a very hot week so a cool swim was perfect at the end of the day's activities. The kitchen is very well-equipped which we appreciated because we both enjoy cooking; it had all the right pots, gadgets, and kitchen tools. The propane grill worked well for some steaks one night. We had guests for a couple of overnights, and the home worked well for all. Because it was a very hot week (every day in the mid-80s), we appreciated the AC at meal times and for sleeping. We had a great time and would use this home again in the future when we vacation in the Berkshires.
So glad you had a good time!
The accommodations were wonderful. As a family of seven it was perfect.
It is great location. It took us 10-20 minutes to get where we wanted to go. The beech is fantastic. Enjoyed the kayak and. Canoe. Swimming rafts were fun. Shore was sandy. Weedy when you get out farther.
One 2 person kayak for guest use. Life jackets provided and must be used when boating.
