Our names are Darrel & Merrie, we met in Williams & have been married 43 years. We have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. Merrie grew up in the area, and has always called it 'home', she loves the mountains, pines and the quiet pace of the location.
Merrie purchased this House in 2007
Why Merrie chose Parks
We purchased the land in 2002 and dreamed of the day we would see our cabin there on the property. We drew the plans and sub-contracted the construction beginning in 2005, the home was, for the most part, completed in 2007. We have enjoyed the process, and have been doing some finishing touches since then. We are confident you will enjoy the property, and make many happy memories there.
What makes this House unique
There is a peacefulness you'll feel when staying at our home, and the proximity to the Grand Canyon, Williams, Bearizona, The Grand Canyon Railway, Flagstaff and Sedona makes our home perfect for daily outings taking in all the sites. We enjoy taking the family to the cabin to enjoy the cool weather in summer. The smell of the pines, relaxing around the fire pit and taking walks in the forest, along with the occasional sightings of the deer, elk and antelope in the area are a welcome change of pace. The Kaibab squirrels that live in the neighborhood enjoy the handouts and are very entertaining. Winters are beautiful with the fresh snow, sledding and holidays in front of the fireplace with coffee, spiced cider and hot chocolate. Christmas in Williams is a sight to see, with the lighting of the huge Christmas tree, and boarding the Polar Express is a joy for the kiddies, young and old. Bearizona Wildlife Park and The Deer Farm are a must see, near Williams, only a few miles away. (Sorry, we do not host pets in consideration of those with allergies)

Beautiful house in the woods!
Loved staying here, really beautiful and well equipped house in the woods, very quiet location but easily access to Grand Canyon, Williams, Sedona etc. There was so much to do nearby that we wished we'd had more time to stay and enjoy the house!
Beautiful family retreat near Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and Sedona
We had a wonderful time with our 3 children and our 2 in-laws at this beautiful cottage. We had plenty of space for the 7 of us and found the home to be clean, bright, and well-appointed. The forest setting was beautiful and the neighborhood quiet. We did hear the train on and off (including overnight) but found it charming. There were fun games for us all to play and the TVs and cable options were great for evening relaxing.
We took day trips to Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff areas, including 1 day on Grand Canyon train to South Rim. Safeway was close by in Williams for groceries.
The only drawback of the home was that the WIFI did not work at all (despite 3 different tech-savvy adults with 6 different devices trying to get connection at various hours of day/days of week) and cell phone coverage (AT&T, Verizon) was spotty to nil. Would caution against expecting any internet access for important work/business or other needs during your trip.
great house, lovely setting, comfortable accommodations
We enjoyed our stay at the gateway cottage. The kitchen is well stocked w/ gear for cooking meals which we did multiple times, there's laundry facilities and a lovely soaking tub upstairs with a beautiful forest view. We would stay again if we are traveling in that area.
Beautiful cabin in the woods!
We loved staying at The Gateway Cottage! Our family stayed over the spring holiday in March. My husband, myself and our two children 11 and 16. The kids loved having their own space after long day trips to the South Rim of Grand Canyon (we did as well)! The cottage was in the perfect location and was nice and quiet. I would say it was about 15 minutes from Williams and and hour from the Grand Canyon. I would recommend this to any family that did not want to stay in a hotel. After being around crowds all day it was nice to come back and be able to relax!
Loved this stunning cabin
I highly recommend this cabin to everybody. Plenty of fun and room for kids, adults, and even us Seniors. Clean and beautifully decorated. Right in the middle of so much to do - you should never be bored. Has everything you need and plenty of privacy. Would gladly and hopefully will return one day.
Overwhelming with beauty!! Can’t wait to stay again!! Words can’t describe the care of this home you just have to experience it!’
