About George Stanley
I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo. I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental. I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.
George Stanley purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why George Stanley chose Asheville
I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.
What makes this Apartment unique
Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees. At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.

Amazing stay in rustic designed space close to Asheville, but with a remote feel.
My wife and I stayed here this June for a few days of hiking. George was great. He was very nice and helpful. The layout gives plenty of privacy - if he had not come out to greet us, I don’t know that I would have known he was there.
You absolutely cannot beat the view, and Uber will pick you up if you want to have drinks in Asheville worry-free. I would definitely stay there again.
We had a wonderful weekend at a wonderful spot! We highly recommend George’s Place for a cozy weekend away. We loved the visitors (bear, raccoon, cats) and wish we could have stayed longer!
Enjoyed staying up on the mountain.Nicely done rustic place in owners residence. Only drawbacks were very small stall shower and very dicey drive up the mountain in rain and fog at night with zero visibility. Need to be a very confident driver and have help seeing the road.
Mountain Peace and Beauty
Exactly what I was looking for! Cozy cabin w/all the essentials, wildlife up close and personal (Kitties and turkeys and bears, oh my!) Peace and quiet, yet only minutes from downtown Asheville, and a wonderful friendly helpful host.
I hope to return in the Fall
Don’t want to leave
The setting is amazing, decor is inspired. George , the owner, is swell. Enjoyed seeing the wildlife, especially the bear.
The word divine was created for this space.
I hope to be back. My dog Lucky agrees.
Peaceful Mountain-top in Harmony with Wildlife
"This is the gentlest place I have ever been" was the only thing uttered after 20 minutes of silence on a swing watching the sun set and listening to the birds settle into the forest around us for the night. Then the FULL MOON rose right in front of us and our jaws. dropped. And for eight days we watched the amazing sun rises from bed, deck and swings. The now infamous (from reviews) one-lane road made for a great morning walk. We jokingly called it "cardiac hill". We regularly saw wild turkeys, bears, groundhogs and a couple raccoons. The bears were a thrill to watch and photograph from a distance. The cabin itself is cute, and worked well for preparing simple meals. It's location is perfect for days in town or out hiking or driving the Parkway. The River Arts District is great fun, as are the local restaurants and breweries.
We both slept well on the bed even though one likes a semi-firm mattress and one likes a softer one. And finally, there's George. We enjoyed his company very much and look forward to coming back to see him again soon.
