Surrounded by lush gardens, and overlooking Smugglers Cove, Scottland is the most beautiful and romantic Mediterranean style villa in Tortola. Truly tucked away down a 1/2 mile driveway, this villa could not be more private and peaceful. This villa is designed to be a 'get-away-from-it-all'....you are free to laze by the pool, walk down to the beach or go exploring in your 4X4! Wifi for your convenience and a TV in the master with DVD player.
Scottland House is a gorgeous two-storey property surrounded by mature planting including vibrant bougainvillea. The villa is located in a very peaceful area of the island, and is just a 15 minute walk – or a short drive – from the nearest beach at idyllic Smuggler's Cove with its excellent swimming and snorkeling.
Accommodation on the lower floor consists of a comfortable and welcoming living room furnished with a brightly coloured ‘L’-shaped sofa, and decorated with local prints and artifacts. Generous glazed doors on two sides of the living room let in plenty of light, and open fully – one to the patio and private pool and the unobstructed ocean views, which are simply magnificent. The villa’s substantial outdoor space provides a number of areas for relaxing poolside, topping up your tan, or reading, as well as shaded alfresco dining. The in-built gas BBQ is to the rear of the patio. Adjacent to the living room through a wide, open doorway is the villa's well-equipped country kitchen.
A curved staircase leads up to the comfortably furnished and welcoming master bedroom suite, with its vaulted ceiling and romantic four-poster bed. This room has an en suite bathroom with a good-size natural stone shower and pretty hand-painted washbasin. French doors open wide to a small balcony and views of the ocean and outlying islands of Jost van Dyke and Sandy Cay – among several others. To the rear of the master bedroom is a private tiled courtyard with café-style table and chairs, a private outdoor shower and a garden path leading to a pavilion-style gazebo and a gently swaying double hammock. The second bedroom, a somewhat smaller room with a queen-size bed and small adjacent half-bath, is accessed by a short flight of steps from the rear of the kitchen, it has AC and french doors out to the beautiful ocean views. Do note that the second bedroom has only an outdoor shower that is not private.

As managers of Scottland, we work directly for the villa owners and live on Tortola full time, just a couple of miles from Scottland in fact! We know the villas that we manage inside out; we can offer assistance with car rental, provisioning and anything else you might need; and we will be here to show you around the villa. We look forward to meeting you!
As business owners we work all the time so were looking for a place to get away from it all. Scottland was perfect! It is private, well appointed, comfortable, and with amazing views. We loved everything from the master suite, kitchen, pool and the patio. We had a few afternoon showers which allowed us to relax on the veranda watching the rain over the islands while listening to music and reading books. Absolute Paradise! We've looked for other similar properties in the Caribbean without success - nothing offers both the privacy and the comfort. We will be back!
We booked this Villa as a Honeymoon trip, for ten days. Let me just say, there's no place I would rather stay, than this Place.. I would give the staff, and their service and help 5 stars. The Villa is located on the side of secluded mountain, and has views, privacy and romance pouring from its Spanish style design, Orchids blooming everywhere you look. Beautifuly decorated, tasteful elegance. If you have the opportunity to be able to get here, do so! Samantha, and Sharlene handle everything and make this a perfect example of a retreat. The Pool is perfect. Music and isolation with a view of a nearly private beach. Stunning. Coral reef 5 min from Villa. Unbelievable sea life right there. Five stars, 2 time visited the BVI! Superb. The pictures don't compare to the actual experience. Hands down, will be back.
My wife an I stayed at this beautifully located and appointed villa with everything you could ask for in accommodation from April 16-23, 2016. We have stayed at a number of holiday villas around the world and from our experience, most overstated their descriptions and / or have outdated photos attached. When we stayed at Villa Scottland we found that it is actually far better than described and pictured. Simply too beautiful for words. The support we received throughout the booking, check-in and checkout process was also first class.
We would absolutely recommend this to others and are already planning our next visit.
My wife and I spent 8 nights at Scottland for my 60th. We enjoyed every minute spent at this gorgeous villa. As others have stated, you will have a tough time leaving to sightsee, explore, or just go to the beach. We have visited St. John several times and stayed in other gorgeous villas with a great view. Scottland is unique because of the great view of Jost Van Dyke and Sandy Cay, along with Smugglers cove below. And the sound of the surf lulling you to sleep every night is a memory you will always cherish. As was mentioned the road is a challenge coming in from either way, (Sopers Hole or Long Bay) but I loved 4- wheeling over the terrain. Relaxing in the pool while looking down at Smugglers Cove with a drink in hand, was a daily highlight. Scottland is on one of the quieter parts of Tortola, and it is private and secluded. A great spot for romantics and honeymooners. We never turned on the A/C, but it is available in the bedrooms. You have the option of cooking on the stove or grill, and dining at the great teak table overlooking the gorgeous blue water is as good as it gets. I loved the outdoor shower, while my wife exclusively used the indoor stone/tile shower. There's a great music system that is fully stocked with CD's, and you can choose just about any genre of music for your mood while sitting in the relaxing loungers looking out at JVD. A 15 minute drive to the Harbor Market in Soper's hole is where you can re-stock groceries. There is also a couple clothing shops, a coffee shop, and a few restaurants, including a Pussers which I highly recommend. We enjoyed it so much we went twice. The view from the top deck having your meal while overlooking the marina was great for boaters like my wife and I. We also had a special dinner at the Sugar Mill Restaurant which was our best meal on the island. Great atmosphere, service and food. Staying at Scottland allows you to take a 5 minute Jeep ride to a nice secluded beach, (we also like Brewers Bay but that is a 30 minute drive). And don't forget to run down to Smugglers Cove at the end of the day with a couple drinks and the beach chairs for the daily sunset. We were the only two on the beach, (except for Nigel who was packing up). Sam and JC prepped us prior to arrival, and had Amin meet us at the local market to follow him up to Scottland the first evening. Everything was so well prepared, that we never had to contact them again. We made memories that will last forever.
Scottland was amazing. My friends and I had the perfect vacation. Waking up every morning to the view of Jost Van Dyke, Sandy Cay and your own Smuggler's Cove is a dream. Coffee beside the pool stretched out or viewing the nearby islands from the telescope is fantastic. We listened to great music and enjoyed our trips to the beaches or to Soper's Hole for dinner. We caught the ferry from Roadtown to Virgin Gorda and the ferry from West End to Jost. We snorkeled at Smuggler's Cove and enjoyed our favorite meal from Nigel who sells food and drinks there. We even validity Nanny Cay for the Regatta festival. Why anyone would want to travel anywhere else for seclusion and the perfect beach getaway, I would not know! You WILL need a four wheel drive to go to and from this house due to rough and sometimes steep terrain, but my group is familiar with this terrain here in Kentucky. Road signs are not always apparent, although it is still simple to find you way. Learn directions during the day, rather than night. We ordered groceries delivered ahead of time. Again, the house is so worth it! We rarely visit the same place twice but will return to Scottland. The house has chairs, snorkel gear, coolers, beach towels, sunscreen, all your necessities! This is the best view in Tortola. Trust me; you will not be disappointed!
My wife and I stayed at Scotland for our honeymoon. The place is beautiful and the views are unbelievable. It sits above smugglers cove and it's completely secluded and quiet. The beach at smugglers is about 5 minutes away and is one of the nicest beaches in the area. The house itself is great. The outdoor pool and patio area is huge and is perfect for cookouts. We didn't use the downstairs bedroom but the upstairs bedroom was really comfortable and spacious. The caretaker Sam was great and answered any questions or requests that we made. We will definitely be back.
