About Wendi Jerald
My wife and I live and work in nearby Ocala, Florida, about 19 miles from Ocklawaha. I am a retired sheriff’s detective and my wife is a legal assistant. Since my parents owned a home in Ocklawaha for many years and I grew up around Lake Weir, I would often check out the old neighborhood when travelling out of county. One day I found a for sale sign on this cottage property that coincidentally is located very near my parents former home. We purchased the cottage in May 2011 and have spent the time since enjoying it with our adult children and their families and friends. We have also renovated and updated the entire cottage and continue to improve the property. Of course boating, jet skiing, kayaking and other water sports are happening on the lake during the day. Evenings are great, usually with a breeze blowing and you never know what kind of wild life will be coming along. It seems there is always something happening at the lake. Even so, there is a quiet tranquility about the area and it is a great place to get away and relax. The cottage sits among several lake side properties most of which are occupied by friendly, full time residents. Since we are located only about 7 miles from The Villages you can enjoy shopping and a variety of restaurants there. The Villages is a unique place and I recommend you check it out. For more local dining flavor, Gator Joe’s is located a stone’s throw away and is a unique wood floor restaurant, right on the water where you can get a variety of dishes including the famous “gator tail”. So, bring your boat, jet ski, kayak or if you just want to get away for a quiet, relaxing retreat we would love to have you come for a stay.

Why Wendi Jerald chose Ocklawaha
We purchased this cottage because we were familiar with the area and simply fell in love with it and the location including its proximity to Ocala, The Villages and Orlando.
What makes this Cottage unique
While staying at this property us, our kids, and grand kids enjoy an array of activities including boating, swimming, fishing and just plain old relaxation. We recently added a 19'X32' porch on the lake side. Part of it is screened and the other part is a grilling porch where you can grill while being protected from the elements. We also just added a fire pit on the beach. Both features provide an opportunity to relax with friends and your favorite beverage and enjoy a full view of the lake and amazing sunsets. We prefer seniors for multi-month rental or weekly rentals.

we stayed 3 1/2 months and absolutely loved it. Wish we had a boat it would have been even better. It is conveniently located between the Villages and Ocala and plenty of activities to do. You are an hour from Disney and an hour from Daytona Beach and an hour and half from Clearwater Beach. We loved the relax atmosphere that the owners have given to the home. You do have several restaurants within minutes of the place but a wide variety within the Villages and Ocala. We also travelled around Florida to a lot the attraction sites of small cities for unique shopping to other attractions. Perfect location overall. Owners are very nice and always willing to help with whatever your needs. The place is very equipped with what you need. Overall I would definitely recommend it to my family and friends and would go back myself.
About 10 miles from Ocala, Belleview and The Villages. The Villages is a unique community with various activities, shopping and numerous golf courses. Within The Villages are several themed communities with restaurants, shopping and town square activities. We are also 1 1/2 hours from Orlando where Disney World and Epcot are located. Drive another 1 and 1/2 hours east and you are on the Atlantic coast at Daytona Beach. About the same distance to the west brings you to the west coast of Florida at Tampa.
