About Bob or Kathleen
I am a native of the town of Mesilla. My mother Josefina, grew up in Mesilla and was instrumental in a tradition that lives on today. During the Christmas Holidays she started the lighting of the lumanaries (frajilitos) every Christmas eve. She would invite the public into her home for a Christmas cookie and a cup of hot cider. People have come from around the world to see this attraction and enjoy her hospitality. We lost her 12 years ago, but her tradition lives on. It has become others tradition to join us for our Holiday cookies and cider. My husband, who came from Iowa, shares this tradition and is now a native.
Bob or Kathleen purchased this House in 2005
Why Bob or Kathleen chose Mesilla
My husband and I own 'www. josefinasoldgate' cafe. We started our project 12 years ago. We never expected things to grow and expand as they have. This property is attached to the home that my grandparents and my mother lived in. We turned it into this VRBO so that our guests may enjoy the property the way we have. It ajoins our cafe and winery. It is one short block to the Mesilla Plaza. You may take three steps up to the cafe, go shopping in the village, dine at your choise of restaurants or enjoy just relaxing in our private and lush back yard. 'You can hear the sounds of the bells of San Albino
What makes this House unique

Convenient to the 'Old Plaza' in Masilla
It Casita was an ideal place since we had to travel with our dog. The walled in yard was very nice. Of course it would have been nicer if it hadn't been so hot -- over 100 degrees every day! The house and the area were very historic and interesting. The shops in the Plaza were interesting and varied. And the Cafe attached was very convenient and good food!
Southwest Michigan travelers
The Casita was very cozy, quiet and private. Being in the heart of old Mesilla and mere blocks from many shops and restaurants was wonderful. We sincerely enjoyed our visit, but due to cooler weather, we appreciated the access to free wi-fi while indoors as t.v. viewing is somewhat limited. The owners were very helpful with anything we needed.
We have seasonal activities on the Plaza. Check www.mesilla.org for times and dates. The Bells of the Basicilla can be heard daily.
