Best Family Fishing in Colorado

  • 5 of 5

I've been coming to Grandma's house for a few years now and haven't written a review before...because we kind of want to keep it a secret. The thing is, Pat and Duane are so incredibly kind we want them to have every success.

Here's the information: if you are interested in any combiation of fishing, hiking, geology, ranching culture, bird-watching, clean, peace, quiet, well-equipped, first-rate hospitality, star-gazing, marsh mellow roasting, you won't find better.

This place was incredible. It was the perfect escape. The kids loved having the pond right out back where they could fish, and we went wandering around for hours in the surrounding land. The Scholls are warm and welcoming, and the house was so clean and comfortable. We will definitely be returning!

A Big Group of Dudes

  • 5 of 5

The renters were kind enough to allow the use of firearms on the ranch. This was key as many of us had new firearms we wanted to try out. The views up at Grandma's House are gorgeous. The pond is chock full of catchable brook trout and rainbow. My buddy got a brook with a fly and it was a beaut for sure. Catch and release is how it should be, and that's how it is here. The owner's are right nice folk and Pat's cinnamon rolls are not to be beat. I plan on coming back when able.

Annual Family Fishing Trip

  • 5 of 5

We enjoy our stay at Grandma's House each year for our annual fishing trip and family reunion. The lodging makes a great location for fishing and exploring the beautiful area year after year. And as all fishermen know, it's not always about the fish. Just a great place to relax and catch up with the family on an annual basis. The Scholl's are very welcoming and such nice people to visit each year! This just makes it all the better to stay at this nice, hidden, and well situated property. The house has everything you could ask for and more. We are scheduled to arrive again this September and hope there will still be some Grand Junction peaches that we can bring to the Scholl's. Look forward to seeing you again Pat and Duane!
