Rhode Island Monthly magazine ranked Touisset as one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Rhode Island.

This romantic two bedroom and one bath summer cottage is located on the pastoral Touisset peninsula, in the community known as Touisset Highlands, a small neighborhood found alongside the Kickemuit River. The home offers a fantastic water view and has easy access to the water with a public right of way path located directly across from the house (see photos). It incorporates modern details with unique custom features, blending rustic, above average finishes with the natural outdoor surroundings. The area is known for being quite exclusive and very peaceful.

The cottage offers guests a quintessential New England vacation experience with a touch of luxury. The home boasts an oversize deck that faces the water and creates a giant outdoor living space. Enjoy your morning coffee or lunch sitting at the bistro table, watching the boats go by. View the sun setting over the water while having a cocktail or dinner. Relax while lounging under the umbrellas on the new deck furniture, a large outdoor sectional sofa and club chair. Catch some sun and just unwind. If you're feeling more adventurous, hop in the kayak (2 included) or dig some native clams in one of the areas cleanest rivers!

The cottage is fully furnished and includes: one queen sized bed in the master bedroom and one twin sized bed in second bedroom, T.V. (basic cable), linens, towels, kitchen amenities, etc..

We hear it time and time again, 'The house is nicer than the photos!'. Not your typical cottage by the river-the location and amenities set the stage for an ideal summer vacation.

About Steven Bettencourt

My name is Steven and I'm an interior designer now living in Los Angeles. I've enjoyed spending the last few years renovating my cottage to reflect a sense of what ideal summer living in New England should be- relaxed, casual and in tune with nature. I've had a lifelong appreciation for the water which has influenced the design of the home, as well as the materials I've used throughout the property.

Steven Bettencourt purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Steven Bettencourt chose Rhode Island

I grew up in the house next door. Like many of my neighbors and their returning children, I've acquired a slice of heaven that retains the same environment that was so familiar while growing up. The sounds drifting off the water from the boats passing by, the wildlife that occasionally meanders through the yard and the smell of the salt air mixed with the summer sun are what make this spot in Touisset very special. Living by the water seems to be so conducive to naturally reducing stress. An ever changing view of the tides, great sunsets and the surrounding wildlife and nature are what make the cottage the perfect place to relax and decompress.

What makes this cottage unique

Ideal for a relaxing, romantic getaway or vacation home, writer’s retreat. Great for those who love nature, kayaking, sailing, swimming and boating! Experience an endless summer in New England that you won't forget. You may even be lucky enough to see deer, wild turkeys or other local inhabitants of the Touisset peninsula right in your own backyard!

So well designed and well maintained! It is a pleasure to stay here. This is our third year in a row! We did some kayaking, cycling, and swimming, but mostly just relaxing out on the deck!

Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

I cannot even begin to tell you how happy my husband & I were with not only the cottage, but the overall experience.

Steve's mom Gerry lives next door, and she the kindest most accommodating person we've ever met! The sunset from the porch is breath taking. We went clam digging, kayaking, swimming, and just plain relaxed. The cottage is decorated so tastefully! I cannot say enough nice things. We will absolutely be back! Thank you Steve and Gerry! This place is a Gem!

We liked it so much last summer, we came back again this year!

  • 5 of 5

The interior design is beautiful and I started to relax the minute I walked in the door and saw the sparkling interior. We only had a few days for a mini-vacation, but this was the perfect spot to get away from it all

Bring your bicycles!

  • 5 of 5

The country/residential roads near the cottage are great to explore by bicycle. The cottage is on a peninsula, so there is very little traffic. Also, we put the bikes on the bike rack and went to the East Bay Bike Path in Warren which extends from Colt State Park in Bristol all the way to Providence.

But cycling was not the only thing we did. We also used Steven's kayaks, enjoyed the Audubon sanctuary and took day trips to Newport and Providence. A wonderful and relaxing get-away that the whole family enjoyed!

Lovely getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My family spent 8 days at this perfect cottage enjoying the neighborhood, ocean and bird sanctuary. Steven's description of the property is spot on. The location is perfect for visiting places on the west or east side of the Bay and for easy, quick access to Providence. You won't be disappointed if you choose to stay here… His Mom makes every effort to keep you informed of things to do and places to eat and she's a fun, lovable spirit!

Wedding in Bristol? An excellent hotel alternative!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Steven's beautifully designed cottage instead of a hotel room for a family wedding. You'll have more space to relax than any hotel room. In addition to a kitchen, an outdoor shower, and indoor shower, you'll have a fabulous and relaxing outdoor deck. My husband enjoyed the big screen tv with all the channels to chose from. The internet was reliable and quick. Steven's sweet mom lives next store to the cottage and was so helpful with information about the cottage and the surrounding area. Steven was quick to respond to questions and details for the rental. The deposit was returned quickly. We were so happy to stay here, and have fond memories of our stay!
