About Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh
Hi! We are Beverly and Carole, who are the owners at 823. We live on the first and second floors of our home. We welcome you to a comfortable stay in our studio apartment
Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh purchased this Studio in 2005
Why Carole Musaracchia & Beverly Balbirsingh chose Bedford-Stuyvesant
Our home is situated in an up and coming section of Bed Sty. It is a 10 minute car drive to both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. We enjoy the conveniences to activities in and around Brooklyn and Manhattan. We like the vibe of the neighborhood and the diverse population.
What makes this Studio unique
We fell in love with this house because of the backyard space. We created a private space in our back yard to enjoy when we need to unwind. It makes us feel like we are in the country in the city. We like to entertain and having friends and family over to enjoy the space with us.
Please consider the following guidelines when booking this property:

This is a lovely studio and very comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and the owners were very friendly.
Great place to stay!
Carole's place was perfect. Spacious, well-located and in a great area. We had everything we needed in the apartment and were well looked after.
Perfect place to stay in Brooklyn
We were delighted to discover Carole and Bev's studio. Not only was it easy walking distance to our son's apartment, it was beautifully appointed, with everything we could ask for. It includes a full kitchen, bath with a GREAT shower, very comfortable King bed and large TV. There's Wifi, snacks in the frig, and all kinds of information on the area. We will definitely stay here whenever we visit. Carole was incredibly accommodating with her information and advice. A great place to stay! Thanks!!
The property was exactly has it was listed!
We loved this property with the exception of 2 things. The heat is controlled by the owners unit! When we arrived it was about 90in the apartment! When we asked how to turn it down we were told to open the windows or run the air conditioner unit!they don’t want AC on while you are gone so we left the windows open all day! That is not a option at night if you want to sleep at all! Medic and fire run lights and sirens every night all night! The AC was to noisy to ru while you were trying to sleep! The other issue is it list up and coming neighborhood I’m not sure how that is the case! It’s fine durning the day but we used Uber at night didn’t feel safe walking from subway back!
WOW, I think that was 9 exclamation marks!!!!!!!!! 9.
It's true that it can get warm upstairs. We keep the heat at 67 downstairs, which is actually cold downstairs, but we are mindful that it gets warm on the third floor for our guests, so we do not raise it. If we were not caring for Beverly's 95 yr old mother on the first floor, we would keep it lower. But since this is the case, I ask our guests to please either open the window or run the air conditioner.
90 degrees in the apartment is an exaggeration.
This is a big city. Occasionally, you will hear police, fire or ambulances. This happens in NYC, Brooklyn or any big city. We have millions of people living in our city. Things happen.
Tonight, I heard 1 siren about 6pm.
Sirens and lights all night long is an exaggeration. That is not the truth or else even WE would move.
Running the ac in the apartment all day long, cooling off no one is a waste of energy and money, so yes, we do ask our guests when leaving the apartment for the day, please turn off the ac. It's really not a problem to leave the windows open during the day. And we do not mind paying for the energy of running the ac, while there are guests in the apartment, for our guests comfort. We have big fluffy comforters for our guests in case they are cold. For now, that's all we can do.
In the summer, people sleep with air conditioners running. Our air conditioners are not any more noisy than any other air conditioners. We clean the filters often and they are not a cheap brands.
Our guests did the correct thing by taking an uber if they did not feel safe. I always let our guests know that they should take a taxi or uber if they do not feel safe.
NO neighborhood, no matter where you live,
is safe. There are people everywhere that have bad intentions. We call our neighborhood up and coming because that is what it is. It is no worse than any neighborhood in the city. 13 years ago when we bought the house, it was horrible. As the years went by, it has attracted more diverse people. Renting in this area has become very expensive. It is comparable to ANY neighborhood in Brooklyn or in NYC.
If you feel you need a police escort, a bodyguard or the national guard to bring you to and from the neighborhood, then New York is not the place you should visit.
We are sorry that this guest had such a bad time inside and outside of the apartment.
I would not have even given us 4 stars, if true.
Maybe something was good?
Very Very Clean
Exactly like the photos and very clean. Owners were gracious and accommodating.
Bev and Carole were amazing!!! The place was nice and clean, supplied with the little things you would not think to pack, but need when you get there, they were both very knowledgeable about everything And I love that notes were left all around for everything which was very helpful, I cant wait to come back again,, thank you guys for an amazing time!!
We are located in Brooklyn in historic Bedford Stuyvesant. Our home is right on DeKalb Avenue just steps away from the B38 bus to Downtown Brooklyn. Take a stroll through Pratt Institute's Sculpture Garden which is only 7 minutes away by bus. Have a slice of Juniors famous cheesecake only 15 minutes away by bus, before you connect to the B,Q, N or R train to New York City right on the corner of Juniors. Stroll through the mall near Barclay Center where you will find stores such as Target, Marshalls, Uniqlo and DSW. Or explore the newly reorganized and rapidly changing Fulton Mall near Juniors in which you will find Macys, Aeropostale, Aldo, American Apparel, Armani Exchange, Banana Republic,Brooklyn Industries to name a few. We are very close to the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, beautiful Brooklyn Bridge Park where you will find the most spectacular views of NYC between 2 bridges. Brooklyn Bridge Park offers free outdoor movies in the summer with the NYC skyline as a backdrop, Beach Volleyball courts, Kayaking, Ping Pong, Bocce, Basketball,Rollerskating Rink
and the famous Janes Carousel where, for 2 dollars, young or old, you will enjoy this. There are fun parks within the park for children and a scenic bike path. Food festivals are a regular attraction at this park. Citibikes are available a few blocks from us, where you can rent a bike and use the bike lanes made available, we will supply maps. Prospect Park is also nearby Grand Army Plaza and the Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Museum and the Zoo. A large green market takes place during the summer at the edge of Prospect Park and also every Saturday at Fort Greene Park. Many farmers from upstate New York attend these markets as well as every Wednesday near Union Square Manhattan, a short ride on the Q train.
There are a number of public parks and a public pool (Kosciuszko Pool) which is 3 blocks from our house. There is so much to do in Brooklyn, so many restaurants and bars near our home and in the nearby Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. We are centrally located and a very easy commute to all attractions.
