If you want space and comfort for a lot of people it is a very nice, clean, well stocked, large home. We found trying to communicate with the owner very difficult and they never responded to our emails online. The driveway was not shovelled and the carbon monoxide detectors had to be dismantled due to random beeping ( probably just a battery problem but annoying). We did not stay there ourselves but our extended family did
In response to the beeping...detectors do fail after their shelf life and do have to be replaced, which has been done.
As for the emails...I do apologize. We were in Austailia at the time those emails were sent and i was only checking emails when wifi was available. Wifi was pretty sketchy at best most times where we were. My phone number is always listed and would recommend calling if an email has gone unanswered when there is a question that needs to be asap.
They stay was good. I think the pots and pans could be updated but overall wonderful
Beautiful home in Sparwood
Our group really enjoyed staying here while working in the valley. The house is beautiful and very well set up for guests. Having the large garage and porch was also a definite plus! We look forward to staying here again. And thank you to Mike for being a gracious host and promptly responding to my many emails.
Not Quite as Expected
The most disappointing thing about our rental was that we were nickled and dimed - after paying a cleaning fee we were charged an additional expense for the following reasons - we were told that the ashes from the fire place were not cleaned which was NOT stated in the Terms and no ash can was provided even if we had wanted to clean it - we were also told that the garbage had not been taken out, which it had and was all stored in the garage as requested - the only thing we could think about was we possibly forgot a bag under the kitchen sink or the bathrooms.
We had 9 in our party - 3 couples and 3 adult males - and not enough beds for everyone - there were 5 bedroom, all with queen beds and the blow up bed was broken so one of our guests had to sleep on the sofa. Maybe a suggestion to have 2 single beds in at least one of the bedrooms to accommodate singles and not just couples.
The stove was gas and did not work properly - when one burner was turned on, all of the other burners would spark from the pilot lights trying to ignite - one of the stove dials did not work and we were afraid that the gas was still running - this was a little unnerving.
The video library consisted of very old DVDs and even video cassettes! There was no satellite and/or cable.
The view from the property is very deceiving and can only really be seen from the living room and the loft - all the bedrooms look directly into the neighbours houses which are right next door on both sides. The porch looks directly onto the neighbours house and the view of the mountains can only be seen from the one end of the porch. You are not nestled in the mountains, but in a fully built up neighbourhood that is still under construction - the view to the mountains also spans across a field with huge hydro lines running directly behind the SMALL back yard.
All in all, our stay was okay - the house was large enough to accommodate our party, however, the privacy aspect was not as expected and the additional charge after what we had paid was unreasonable.
Loved the stay !! Great Property !
We stayed at Mike & Charmaine's house over the August long weekend. It's a great, clean place with all the necessary amenities. Drive to the grocery store was about 5 mins. It's minutes away from highway but a quiet place.
Had plenty of room for everyone in our group of 10.
Great log home in central location for the Crowsnest and Elk Valley areas
Property is well built and appointed. Layout of rooms and open areas is very conducive for larger group - plenty of space. Top of the list in my book.
