The Cullowhee area is close to so much. We enjoy any water activities. We love the Tuck river for fishing and kayaking. Also, close to 3 mountain lakes for swimming and boating. Within an hour to beautiful sightseeing from the Blue ridge parkway to Asheville.
Close to shopping, within 10 minutes. But, when you get to the cottage it feels relaxing and away from it all. Just enjoy the atmosphere of the Mountains - the gorgeous sites of nature. The best walk from the cottage for people and pets (it is mostly flat).
We had such a great time at 'Along the River'. We enjoyed the river all week. The kids were able to wade in the water and float in tubes. We jumped in the hot tub at night and took in the cool mountain air. The cabin is very cute and cozy. Everything we needed was stocked in the kitchen and bathrooms. Parts of the house felt brand new and we guessed that some renovations had recently taken place. We also love how the cabin is friendly to pets. Our family had such a wonderful time and I'm sure that we will be back.
I rented this property from Smoky Mountain Getaways and I was very pleased with the home.
When we arrived, I was very upset. The Smoky Mountains had been having unprecedented rainfalls and the river I had dreamed of sitting in was dangerously high. The river never went far enough down to play in during the two weeks we were there. You can't control Mother Nature...
The home featured two bedrooms and a loft. My 8 year old daughter loved the loft and wants one of her own now.
The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking, but the closest grocery store was 10 miles away. The local convenience/general store had some items, but was very expensive.
The location ended up being a bit too far from Asheville for my preference, but you received awesome views in exchange. We also were able to explore more areas that we haven't been to.
The hot tub in the back was amazing. We had an issue with it at first, but they sent a technician the next day and that was fixed up for us.
My only complain was the showers. The head on the showers had been rigged with thin pipes and emitted a wimpy spray. It took a looooong time to shower off any soap. There were lots of towels available though, and the washer and dryer really helped us out.
I would definitely stay here again.
The cottage is 15 minutes to Dillsboro, Smoky Mtn Railroad and Lakes. Within 30 minutes of Cherokee, Smoky Mtn. National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and Ski Resorts.
Come visit this Smoky Mountain home where you can be away from it all and close to so much--hiking, fishing, golfing, white-water rafting, tubing, skiing, antiquing, shopping, dining, gambling.
