About The Owner

My name is Dave, I am an avid summer and winter enthusiast. I can help direct you to the best spots to have fun.

The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 1997

Why The Owner chose Weed

I chose this property because it is not too far from town, has a creek and pond, spectacular view, and the only sound you hear is the wind in the trees and the water rushing by.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Watch the sun come up over the mountain in the mornings. Lay on the deck at night and star gaze at the millions of stars in the sky.

Enjoy relaxing in the front yard hammock

The spring flowers are spectacular along the mountain stream and around the pond.

Better than expectations! Will return!

  • 5 of 5

We chose this rental for our Honeymoon right after the wedding. It was perfect. A private outdoor setting in mountain country. The owner was attentive to our needs and the house was clean and warm. The kitchen has everything you'll need to cook almost anything. We will definitely tell our friends and book trips here in the future!

Lovely winter retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for five nights over the New Year's holiday and had a lovely, peaceful time with our two kids (7 and 10). We brought DVDs, books, and games to play. We relied on the mini-dish for live sports. The Wi-Fi provided worked fine for small tasks, but there isn't bandwidth for streaming or downloads. The kids *loved* exploring the woods around the house. We also explored the surrounding areas a bit, doing a couple of winter hikes and tubing at the Shasta Snow Park. Mt. Shasta City has several cute restaurants (we had Thai, pizza, and Indian meals), as well as a nice crunchy grocery store. We could see evidence that the owners were in the house next door (we could see lights and chimney smoke), but otherwise had no interactions with them or had cause to notice them. The house is nicely appointed, and was cozy and warm, perfect for a quiet winter retreat. The view of Mt Shasta from the upstairs master bedroom is exactly as shown in the picture.

Getaway from it all!

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time relaxing with the amazing view of Mt. Shasta from the dining room, kitchen and master bedroom. Very cozy cabin set far off the beaten path which is just what we needed coming from Los Angeles. A bit of a drive off the paved road so an SUV is recommended and the pond is far from the property and is very dry, not at all appealing. The big pine trees everywhere though are a lovely way to commune with nature. Inside the home the wood beams are rustic and modern but the layout wasn't all together functional. The guest bedroom doesn't have windows and there is only one full bath with a shower located downstairs. The tv reception is minimal that goes with the remote location. We loved the big master bed, the cabin seems like it is newly built which is great but we wondered why there was no fireplace. The entire home is clean and well equipped, the owner Dave was very responsive, thanks!

Owner's Response: If the renters had strolled out the door and down the hill from the house , they would have come across a sweet pond and park like settings along the creek They passed a pond driving to the property but totally missed the pond on the property. The house is quite functional for most people.......

Immensely Peaceful.

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home this is. From the large four poster bed facing Mt Shasta, to the fully equipped kitchen, to the peaceful setting of large trees but open sky, to even the wonderfully placed hammock, this home is a true VBRO find. We loved our stay here. The peace and beauty will be staying with us for a long time. We are coming back!
