It is on top of a hillock overlooking the dreamy hills of marvellous Chianti, the very heart of the Tuscan countryside. Part of a recently renovated farmhouse, the two storey building comprises 6 other flats, but the single units are positioned and partitioned for maximum privacy: residents of each flat can not see or hear one another, thanks to the thickness of the stone walls. You’re with yourself and your dear ones, tucked away among the gently rolling Tuscan hills.
The farmhouse is in località Le Ginestre, about 3 km from San Donato in Poggio, a wonderful Tuscan medieval village in the Province of Florence, in the Tuscan countryside, one of the most charming places in the world: ancient peasant villages, abbeys and parish churches dot the cultivated rolling hills that have been producing grapes for Chianti and other renown wines for centuries. It’s a 3 ½ hour drive from Milan or Rome, less than a half hour to Florence or Siena. A car is necessary, as public transportation is extremely lacking.
The layout of the flat:
Ground floor: living room with fireplace, grand piano (Seiler, beginning XX century, newly renovated and tuned; musicians are invited to play it) and queen size sofa bed; fully equipped, large kitchen; small bathroom with WC and washing machine; garden/veranda with plants and flowers and two tables for al fresco dining, in view of the beautiful Tuscan hills landscape;
First floor: spacious double room with vista on the countryside; single bedroom with possible second bed; bathroom with shower, anteroom with bookcase.
The premises have DSL access 24/7.
Total sleeping accommodations (sofa bed included) are 6.
From Le Ginestre one can easily reach many localities: Tavarnelle Val di Pesa is 7 km away; Monteriggioni, Castellina in Chianti, Greve in Chianti, Barberino Val d'Elsa, Colle Val d'Elsa, San Gimignano, the whole Chianti Valley; Florence (30 km) Siena (35 km). The beaches of Cecina, Follonica and Grosseto seasides are 1 and ½ hour away, while several beautiful outdoor pools are in the immediate vicinity of Le Ginestre. Tuscan cuisine is ubiquitous in any direction.
The flat belonged to an aunt of mine, who furnished it lovingly and in good taste; I have spent and still spend a lot of time there, I’m very fond of it. I expect special care towards the flat. Guests must be very considerate of its contents, from the piano to the dishes and the family pictures.
