Why Rob and Maureen Giffin. chose Acadia

This sweet cottage offers separate access to the pond and a feeling of privacy. The cottage is well out of the way of the hustle and bustle of Maine in the summer, but just a short drive to these areas- the best of both worlds!

What makes this cottage unique

The sound of the loons and the local wildlife keep our guests returning year after year.

Beautiful & convenient location

  • 4 of 5

Toddy Pond was gorgeous. Everything the description says. Acadia Park incredible!

Perry's Lobster Shack a must! BYOB.

We took the bikes everywhere.

Ask Maureen & Rob for suggestions. Very accommodating.

Would give 5 stars if Wifi worked in the cottage. You can connect sitting outside if it's needed.

Will return. Bar Harbor a must. Lots of great day trips closeby. LOVED it!!!

Loved the Place

  • 5 of 5

The posted photos present the lake-house accurately. If anything it's even nicer in person. The hosts were on vacation when we were there, but the guest book attests to how helpful and considerate they were during guest stays. There's a patch of woods between their home and the cottage, giving a sense of privacy. We used their canoe that came with the house. In fact the lake was important to us because he both swim and canoe quite a bit. The long and somewhat skinny lake had a variety of interests for us---everything from good swimming to canoeing with interesting Island stops. A couple of lake "arms" had bogs and wetlands which made for good viewing of wildlife (eagles, blue herons, belted king-fisher etc.) <--Though we could see all that just standing on the dock too.

If the sky conditions are right the sunsets are beautiful. It's also an hour's drive to Acadia National Park, if one wants to leave this peaceful setting. Enjoy!

A nice secluded cottage located in the Maine woods on lovely Toddy Pond.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage has the advantage of being in an area that is quiet and surrounded by nature, but you are only a short drive from interesting restaurants, art galleries and Acadia National Park. Rob and Maureen are exceptionally generous hosts and will go out of their way to help you with any questions. Being able to use their canoe or kayak to enjoy Toddy Pond is one of the many reasons that we have stayed at Loon Sound Cottage four different years. We look forward to returning again!

Cute, cozy, comfortable cabin

  • 4 of 5

Loon Cottage was a pretty, pleasant and peaceful property. It was clean and met all of our needs. We loved the location and beauty around us. The Fall was spectacular. We enjoyed the drive into the woods and quiet walks we had around the property on the dirt road. We had a good five days. It was just like the description we had read previously. The only negative we found was that the bedroom was smaller than we expected. Otherwise we would certainly recommend it for a couple's getaway, especially if you love Nature the way we do.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved Loon Cottage. Very quiet, and just steps away from a private dock on Toddy Pond. The cabin was extremely clean and well equipped, and there were a variety of boats available for use. Would definitely stay again.
