Why Nancy and Ryan Soderstrom chose East Colorado Springs

We love historical homes and family-oriented neighborhoods. The downtown area of Colorado Springs has both! We love how eclectic and unique each of the homes are, and you're sure to meet friendly folks out on a walk or sitting on their porch. It's a great place to spend time!

What makes this cottage unique

The Monument Street cottage has a charm that is undeniable. Across the board, folks who enter the home say, 'Oh wow! This is such a huge and homey place!' We hope that each guest finds the cottage a serene and comfortable place to stay.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I spoke several times with my son while he was staying at the cottage. He told me that it was a super place and was a key to his transition from Brook Army Medical Center and succesful integration back into his home base there at Ft Carson. He was very please with the cottage and its soothing and relaxing enviornment. The cottage provided not only an outstanding property completely outfitted with what he needed but also provided him with a base that was centrally located with great access to everything from which to attend to his many needs during this critical time. I would like to add that Nancy and Ryan were super attentive to our needs during this stay and went out of their way to accommodate Joe on a very short notice and provided some special attention with no hesitation when a need arose. They are great folks to work with and I sincerely believe that they are simply "very good people".

My family was all pleasantly surprised and pleased to have a little home away from home to spread out in after a loooong car ride. The place was clean, and had all the amenities we would want or need for our stay. We were visiting family, so mostly used the kitchen for breakfast, but it was wonderful to also be able to do laundry, so we didn't have to pack so much, and not have a ton of laundry to do after driving home.

We were 6 tall adult sized people, and the place was plenty big enough. The full bedroom bed is high and fairly firm, and my husband said he's not sure it's a queen, but we slept fine. My sons decided to sleep on the couches, instead of the hide-a-bed, and they managed fine as well - both over 6 ft. tall. The younger two slept upstairs, and the fold out bed worked fine for my 6 ft. 13yr. old. :)

This place made a rather daunting trip and lots of rock hiking much more pleasant. We were able to just enjoy our visit and see the sights. We love the keyless entry set up too. Though it was a little cool for the patio, it makes the view nicer than a fence, and it was a handy place to store our car top carrier. Our daughters stopped by for a while, and they were impressed.

Very pleasant and generous owner to deal with.

Great week!

Couldn't ask for a better place to stay, was like a home away from home. Had everything we needed and more and would definitely stay at one of Soders residence again when in the Colorado area. We took in most all of the local sites and couldn't have been happier with our stay. Thanks Nancy and Ryan for having such a wonderful homely place to stay and making our stay more pleasant then we could have ever imagined.

This was a beautifully accommodated, cozy place to spend the holidays with my two grown sons!

This cottage was perfect for the three of us and my two dogs!

It is decorated so tastefully and had everything we needed, to include a washer and dryer!

It's in a wonderful location. It only took minutes to get to our favorite downtown restaurants and is also only minutes to hop on I-25.

The owners are quick to respond to any questions or needs you might have. For guests who aren't familiar with the area, they have a guest book full of information about places to go and things to do nearby.

Thank you for a wonderful place to spend our Christmas holiday together!

My family and I took a fall vacation up to the cottage and were pleased with it. It was very clean, had plenty of room and supplies (great bath towels!) and was centrally located. It snowed while we were there and we all got a kick out of playing in the back courtyard. The upstairs loft was comfortable and ideal for our kids, with toys and plenty of room to play up there. The parking spot directly to the side of the house is great IF you have a smaller car/SUV- we have a Suburban and I still don't know how my husband got that thing backed in there. But, he did and we liked having direct access to our vehicle as needed.

The only thing that was not pleasant was the bed in the master bedroom. It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable beds that my husband and I had stayed on and we didn't get great sleep while there. The sheets and blankets were very comfortable but the mattress was hard as a rock. The bed itself was also very high off the ground, as the mattress and box spring were sitting on top of a platform with drawers for storage; for a shorter person like me (I'm 5'4) with a hip that acts up (injury while giving birth) it was hard for me to get into the bed without my husband giving me a boost or using a step stool. If we ever had the chance to stay there again, we'd just bring a memory foam topper with us.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback, Emily. We just purchased a new mattress with a pillowtop for this unit about 11 months ago. We tend to err on the side of buying firm mattresses, as soft mattresses seem to be more likely to give our guests trouble. I'm sorry you didn't like it. And although the bed is higher than some, I'm glad our stepstool was handy for you. The parking spot is off the alley, so we do tell guests that very large vehicles can be parked on the side street, one door down from the cottage.

We recently spent 4 nights here. The cottage was perfect for our needs! It was very clean, well supplied, and conveniently located in Colorado Springs. Extra little touches like having regular AND decaf coffee available, pancake mix and syrup, and toiletries made it seem extra special. The cottage is exactly as pictured, but was smaller than the pictures made me think it would be.The only caution I would offer is that it is located in an alley, with a sharp turn in the approach, and other tightly spaced garages, fences, and trash cans. We arrived during the day, so it was not an issue, but arriving in the dark could be a little tricky if you don't know where you're going. I would not let that deter me from renting this adorable cottage, but just be aware! We would not hesitate to stay here again, if we are ever in the area!
