When we walk down the beach path and emerge on Lanikai Beach with the Mokulua islands in view, life suddenly gets better !
The home was very clean and had everything you would need for your stay. It was nice to have the washer and dryer there as well as all the kitchen applicances. There is a target within close driving distance that we used for groceries and several local restaurants in the closeby town of Kailua.
There is no AC, which we knew based on the description, but that really is not an issue in hawaii as long as you have fans . The temperature at night is cool and breezy and the fans pull in the breeze. Box fans were provided and we slept very well. I would agree with the below review on some curtains perhaps. There are some iced out shades on the windows but we weren't sure how much it blocks out. There was some construction going on in the day on the roof next door so some curtains would have made it a bit more comfortable to change in the room.
We visited both early beaches and they were beautiful and relaxing. We hiked the pillbox trail by the house which has amazing views of the area. Nalu health bar and cafe, Mahaloha burger, Cinnamon's for breakfast, all in Kailua were our favorite eats and reasonably priced.
Calvin and Susie (if you have dogs), is a cute local store selling dog food, treats, and accessories including local stuff to take back home for your pets!
We visited the DOle plantation and the Polynesian center which were both a great and fun experience. Must have pineapple ice cream at DOLE and eat at Pounders at the Polynesian center. Their fish was delish.
There was a surfing competition on the north shore so we drove by and saw that for a bit. Incredible what these surfers can do! Our friend that came with us went to the north west coast to snorkel with the sharks with a conservation group and really enjoyed the educational experience.
Pearl Harbor of course speaks for itself and is an important place to visit. Very historical and emotional, worth the early trip.
We loved Oahu and enjoyed our stay. Would recommend and love to return someday!
My husband and I, our son and daughter-in-law, all stayed here following their wedding in Honolulu. The location to the beach was perfect, a quick block and a half walk to a beautiful beach. Their was everything we needed for the beach at the house, beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, etc. Great location in general, nice walk or bike ride to stores, etc.
Beautiful setting and yard. It was very warm while we were there and not much of the typical tradewinds, there are many fans in the house which helped a lot, but as a recommendation, perhaps owner would consider adding ceiling fans, and a little updating. Curtains or shades in the bedrooms would be a big improvement. Just simple things like that...... that being said, we would return and miss it already!
It would be a great place for a young family, noticed there's even a stroller there. The washer and dryer were a nice convenience, and the home is very clean.
Robyn was very helpful but not intrusive.
What a comfortable house! We had everything we could need and we loved the location. The local beaches are the most beautiful we have seen. The weather was hot but there are plenty of fans and with so many windows the cross breezes help. It was nice to have the washer/dryer, outdoor clothes line and outdoor shower. I would definitely recommend the Lanikai Surf House and hope I can return someday.
We loved staying at this property. We loved the house, the big yard, and the short walk to the beach. The house was very clean and accommodating to our "Girl's Trip". We had 5 adults, and we loved the big bedrooms with plenty of space for our belongings, and the beds were very comfortable! We felt very safe in the neighborhood. It was so nice to have the beach chairs, towels, and boogie boards to take to the beach. We loved the washer and dryer, the big table, and comfy couches to hang out and talk after each busy day of touring around the island. We were worried about the house not having AC, but found that the trade winds were very enjoyable as well as the fans that helped move the fresh ocean air around the rooms. All the arrangements were made smoothly through emails with Mike . His directions, recommendations for restaurants, and places to visit were very appreciated. We would definitely return to this house.
We had a wonderful time staying at the Lanikai House. Plenty of room, kitchen adequately stocked, and comfy beds. Loved the privacy of having our own house. Easy walk to the beach. I would stay definitely here again. Thanks to the owner for having such a great property available! :)
The previous reviews were all spot on! We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the location, no surprises! Priorities for us were privacy, quiet, walk to beach, roomy. The surf house was all it said it would be! Thank you! Hope to return again.
