About Dolores Abbott
I am a long-time Fairfield person. I grew up in Fairfield, attended Fairfield University, met my husband and was married in Fairfield. Publishing professionals, my husband and I now reside in nearby Trumbull, Ct. My standards of cleanliness for this rental property are very high. It is thoroughly cleaned between guests. All the linens and dishes are carefully washed, as well. I aim to exceed my guests' expectations of comfort during their stays.
Dolores Abbott purchased this House in 1953
Why Dolores Abbott chose Bridgeport
Five beaches, restaurants galore, easy access to NYC, quaint New England charm, Par 3 Golf! I grew up in this house and am the second generation to own it. My family vacations in it for part of the year, so we can highly recommend it as a terrific place to relax and refresh. We particularly enjoy the vast selection of area restaurants and cultural activities available in the area. Fishing, beach, and kayak launch are just steps away.
What makes this House unique
The property is thoughtfully equipped for comfortable, elegant living. It offers more space to spread out and live than any hotel setting. It is sunny and bright and well located relative to transportation, entertainment, fine dining, and beach. The house's proximity to the shoreline, the historic Fairfield town green, and the town center make it dear to our hearts. We especially enjoy observing beach life as we walk along the shore and the Beach Road and Old Post Road areas. The Fairfield Museum and History Center is walking distance--George Washington evidently spent a night at historic Sun Tavern on the old town green, where stately homes from the colonial era survive only because they were owned by Tories and so were spared when British forces burned the town during the American Revolution. The elegant Burr Mansion is just about a mile away. The First Church Congregational on the town green is graced with Tiffany windows. Riverside Drive bustles with pedestrians, dog walkers, bikers, skaters, children on scooters -- and every once in a while a 5K runs past the house! And yet, watching the sun come up over Long Island Sound, or seeing an osprey catch a fish with its powerful talons, is as inspiring as it is exhilarating. This is a precious, carefully tended family home. We are happy to share it with you.

I had a nice stay. Unfortunately, the weather didn't agree with us and we stayed inside the whole time, but I couldn't have asked for a more comfy home to stay in.
Dolores was an accommodating host and all instructions were clear.
We adored Osprey House from the moment we go here. Dolores has done such a great job fitting out the property so it feels like a home from home. We were so comfortable here and it's perfect for a little one as well with the nice yard and it's set a little back from the road on a quiet street. Not to mention the proximity to the beach. We stayed here 10 days and couldln't recommend it highly enough. I will be booking again!
We are so glad to hear that you found Osprey House to be cozy and welcoming, Rebecca! Please come again!
Perfect for our holiday stay!
Osprey House was our home away from home for the Christmas holiday this year, so that we could be close to family and our new granddaughter. I wanted something special given the occasion, and couldn't have been more pleased that it was all just as described and more. The owner anticipated our needs, including the offer of a table-top Christmas tree all lit up to greet us upon arrival, a basket of treats, and good communication all along. We made good use of the well-equipped kitchen, including baking and cooking our contributions for the holiday party, and we appreciated the formal dining room and super-comfy couches in the living room. The lovely windowed front room was a delightful spot for morning coffee. Weather was unseasonable warm, so we also walked down to the marina and beach which are quite nearby (and make me think this is a great spot for summer as well). We made good use of the washer and dryer in the basement as well. This home is remarkably clean and well-maintained, with charming details. We certainly look forward to a future visit!
Cozy, clean and comfortable
We just spent a week at Osprey House, and it was ideal for my family of four. Very clean and comfortable, and it came equipped with everything we needed. Plus, it was close to the beach, shops, and restaurants. The owner was also very helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. All in all, a great stay.
Sweet comfortable house
Perfect place to stay while visiting our son at Fairfield University, close to everything ... very clean, comfortable beds ... definitely better than staying at his beach house!! Owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Wish I had found this sooner than graduation weekend.
Confortable and cozy, beach house style.
"Osprey House" was exactly as advertised in pictures and description. The owner was very accessible by text message and email before during and after our stay, the property was very clean, well equipped and well maintained. The nearby marina provided a picturesque destination for daily rambles, and the location was perfect for visiting our student at a nearby University.
