About the property

Above Inch Beach, overlooking MacGillidy’s Reeks on the Dingle Peninsular

Private House rental (2-8 persons).

Welcome to “An Teach Bán” - The White House. If you are looking to experience the magic of Ireland in a breathtaking location with home from home comfort then look no further.

Built in 2009, The White House sits on over an acre of land and was designed to take upmost advantage of the spectacular, panoramic sea and mountain views. A short leisurely stroll downhill takes you straight to the legendary Inch beach. Situated right on the beach, Sammy’s’ bar and restaurant provides shop, cafe and restaurant facilities where you can enjoy fabulous all day food and drinks whilst enjoying the mesmerising summer sunsets or the dramatic winter storm views. Friends visit all year round and say they enjoy the incredible winter scenes just as much as summer trips. If you don’t enjoy cooking on holiday, no worries - you need never switch on the range! Just head down to the beach for home cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner - not forgetting their delicious coffees and cakes or a glass of fine wine or Guinness.... Alternatively, a short walk from the beach takes you to ‘Foley’s Pub’ where you can treat yourself to sumptuous home-made gourmet pub food and great live Irish music evenings.

For relaxing ‘stay at home’ days the house features a full length south facing deck providing panoramic ocean and mountain views. In daytime you can enjoy the majestic sea views across the water to ’MacGillicuddy’s Reeks’ and ‘Carrauntoohhil’, the highest peak in Ireland. At night be spellbound by the huge open expanse of star filled skies and look out across the sea and be captivated by the twinkling lights of the seaside towns of Glenbeigh and Rossbeigh.

The house was built in 2009. It was designed with open plan, spacious rooms and high ceiling themes. The land has such beautiful sea views it reminded me of many trips to the USA where I rented and fell in love with the lovely Cape Cod beach house designs. This was as close as the local planners would allow me to go in replicating a Cape Cod house in Kerry!

Everyone who visits falls in love with the house and the surrounding location. The house exudes peace and happiness. I hope you have a memorable holiday in my home.

House features:

The 4 bedrooms can accommodate 8 guests. There are 4 bedrooms in total. The upstairs master suite is a huge room which features both a super-king and a standard-king size bed. In addition it has a very large en-suite bathroom with cast iron bath and double shower. The additional 3 bedrooms on the ground floor comprise; - another master suite with super king bed and full bath and double shower en-suite; a standard king double bed with double shower en-suite and a twin bedded 2 x 3ft singles beds with bath and power shower over bath. All bathrooms are fitted out in luxury ‘Fired Earth’ fittings and invigorating power showers.

There are 2 living areas, one upstairs and one downstairs both with stunning sea views. The 2 separate living areas provide superb comfort and privacy should 2 families holidaying together want some ‘time alone’ space. Alternatively, the TV addicts can adjourn to the upstairs living area whilst others can simply relax downstairs and fall asleep whilst watching the waves go by...

Fitted throughout with vintage reclaimed Georgian floorboards, furnished with individually designed hand-made sofas, and decorated in serene historical colour moods, this house was designed as a real living home. The massive USA imported Andersen windows act as ‘art canvasses’ for the magnificent views beyond. Hence, are no blinds on any of the windows except for the bathrooms. The stunning views from the huge deck and garden area create memorable ‘dining out at home’ experiences. There are outdoor tables and chairs for you to maximise your outdoor time.

About Veronica

I spent many happy holidays returning to my parents homeland. When I literally fell across this breathtaking piece of land for sale I couldn't believe my luck. It took many years of battling with planners to build the house of my dreams but it was worth the wait...

Veronica purchased this house in 2009

Why Veronica chose County Kerry

The setting is magical. Everyone who visits falls in love with the house, the location and the amazing panoramic views. You will not want to leave...

What makes this house unique

One of the many charms of Ireland is the weather. It can be wild and wonderful. The house location presents a perfect dramatic setting in winter months and a glorious expanse of sun shimmering sea views during summer months. The huge picture windows captures the beauty of this dramatic landscape. So much so, friends say they don't care how bad the weather turns in winter, they love to simply laze away the day on the sofas watching the huge waves crash against the coastline. There is a very special karma here that touches all who visit... Enjoy!

So much better than advertised!

  • 5 of 5

The house was spectacular - the decor looked like something right out of a magazine. Five of us stayed at the house and we all agreed that we wouldn't change a thing about it! But, the best part of the house were the floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the beautiful sea - we lost count of the number of rainbows we saw during our stay. The upstairs master bedroom was huge and functioned beautifully, particularly with the sitting room right next door. The kitchen is perfectly fitted and served us well when we prepared a spaghetti dinner to enjoy by candlelight while we sipped the wine Veronica so graciously left for us. We walked to Annascaul, a beautiful trek, and had lunch at the 'world-famous' South Pole - a wonderful treat and historical landmark. Sammy's Restaurant on Inch Beach served great food, and Mahmoud was both gracious and kind - he even grated some Parmesan cheese for our spaghetti dinner after we had trouble finding any in the local markets. Finally, Rose, who greeted us and showed us around the house, was simply delightful and extremely helpful. Rose and Veronica were both so kind and responsive. We loved An Teach Ban so much, we're already planning when we'll be back!

A Beautiful Home in a Beautiful Place

  • 5 of 5

This home was absolutely immaculate! The views from the family rooms were sublime and there was a lovely patio with a dining table outside as well. The bedding was very comfortable and spa-like and the beds were a nice size. Inch beach is also lovely for taking walks and enjoying the beauty of Ireland.

You in theory could walk to Inch beach, but it's very very steep and you'd have to walk along some narrow roads that I don't think I'd attempt unless I had to. It's perhaps not the perfect place if you want to be able to walk places but there are two nice pubs just a few minutes drive away.

The kitchen was beautiful, but we did have a bit of a hard time mastering the stove. But once you get the hang of it, it works well.

It's only a 30 minute drive from Dingle which is nice and since it's further up on the peninsula, it's not too far of a drive to the Ring of Kerry and other attractions in the southwest.

The highlight of our trip was going to the Skelligs. This house is close enough that if you get up early, you can make it out to portmagee catch the ferry and land on the Skelligs. It's a steep climb and weather dependant, but well worth the effort.

Veronica had great recommendations for restaurants, we really liked out of the blue. Our favorite chipper is Quinlan's in Kilorgin and Kilarney. Kilorgin is easier to drive to and park and they also have a store there with the days catch if you want to bring back fish to cook. There's also a great chipper in Dingle called Reel Dingle Fish, there's not much of a place to sit inside though and the portions are huge!

It was a great trip! I imagine we'll go back one day!

Owner's Response: Hey Loren - so glad you enjoyed your stay:))) You missed a real treat not walking the world renown "Dingle Way" road... Walkers come from all over the world and marvel at these spectacular walkways. The "road" to Inch is actually sublimely sedate and is virtually traffic free except for the odd farmer and the occasion cow or sheep peeking through the hedgrows!!! Most guests simply abandon their cars and spend their week enjoying the majestic views from all these wonderful walkways. Hopefully we will convert you next time round!!!

If you are looking for a house with great views and all the conveniences of home one could ask for this is the place to stay. The owner and house manager Rose are exceptional . We had 4 couples in our group and never felt like we were on top of each other. When in the Dingle/Inch Beach area nothing else compares.

Our family of 7 adults stayed at this beautiful home for six wonderful nights. Our stay could not have been more perfect. From first contact, Veronica was helpful and accommodating. We were greeted warmly by Rose and a generous welcome basket. We prepared several meals in the well appointed kitchen and enjoyed family dinners while soaking in the view. We really hope to some day return to this magical home. Thank you Rose and Veronica for a family vacation we will always remember.

Quintessential Irish Beauty

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 traveled to Veronica's property in June and could not have been happier. The photos here do not do the house or the views justice. Everything was stunning and the property itself was impeccably maintained, cared for and appointed. Veronica's house manager was absolutely tremendous: thoughtful, friendly and incredibly responsive! If you're traveling to Ireland's West Coast, make time for the Dingle Peninsula and don't think of staying anywhere else!

The stunning location of Inch Strand brings visitors from all over the world. Inch Beach was the setting for Director David Lean’s Oscar winning film ‘Ryan’s Daughter’, a loose adaptation of Gustave Flaubert’s novel, ‘Madam Bovary’. The breathtaking cinematography and the natural beauty of the area as depicted on screen heralded the start of the Dingle Peninsula as a tourist destination. The glorious never ending sandy Inch Beach is surrounded by a sheer majesty of landscapes and panoramic vistas. Once visited, Inch is never forgotten.

Inch Village overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and features one of the best beaches in Europe. The beach has become renowned for surfing and paragliding enthusiasts and also provides great opportunities for beach walks, swimming or simply combing for washed-up beach treasures. The house location affords stunning ocean views and panoramic views across the sea to ‘McGillicuddy Reek’s – an artist’s paradise. For walkers the ‘Dingle Way’ is a beautiful scenic route traversing many of the hills and valleys of this famous peninsula. This, together with the’ Kerry Way’ and the ‘North Kerry Way’, make ‘An Teach Ban’ a dream holiday home.

As described by Lonely Planet: County Kerry is as close you’ll get to the mystical Ireland. Between the county’s snow capped summits are medieval ruins, glacial lakes, coastal peninsulas, blustery beaches, deserted archipelagos, secluded hamlets. Everyone who visits my home make sure they also enjoy visiting the larger towns such as Dingle, Tralee and Killarney where live music sparks up every night as all are but a leisurely drive from Inch Beach.

Tourists arrive with the idea that the iconic Ring of Kerry is a ‘place’ they can visit. In fact, it’s a 179km circuit of the Iveragh Peninsula, where the mountains-meet-ocean beauty makes for one of the world’s great road trips
