This place has it all (even an elevator)!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent five nights in Jane's Joy and loved it all. Our family included 9 people (two grandparents, two married adults & spouses, one single adult and 2 grand-children). We had plenty of room to spread out into the five bedrooms.

While Jane's Joy is would be considered a "second row" house with regards to distance from the beach, it really feels like a "first-row" or beach-front house. The access to the beach is very close. We didn't use the neighborhood pool, basketball court or tennis courts. We would probably have used the tennis courts, but there were no nets strung (and we had lots of other things to do).

The extra refrigerator located on the bottom level was an unexpected (and well-used) surprise. Also, the closet full of beach equipment (chairs, umbrellas, and some toys) was unexpected. There are plenty of chairs left by previous renters to accommodate most families.

The house is delight to live in from the bedrooms to the well-equipped kitchen and really nice china set. There are at least four flat-screen TVs in the house (in addition to some old-fashioned TVs) for those who might consider that an issue. Since we never turned on a TV during our stay, it was not an issue. The only issues we had were the continuing problem (mentioned by a previous renter) with the linens not matching the beds. However, we were able to "make do", so we consider this a minor problem. Also the heat on the dryer seems weak, and could probably use some maintenance (or a replacement).

We are already trying to re-book for next year!!!

Wonderful vacation at Jane's Joy!

  • 5 of 5

I just got home from a week vacation at Holden Beach and could not wait to write this review! The house was wonderful and Jane was very accommodating. She was very attentive to our needs and responded quickly to any requests. There were 5 couples, 4 toddlers, and a 5 year old in our group and we were very comfortable in this home. A previous review said that the king bed was terrible. My husband and I slept on it and found it to be very comfortable. We also read in that review that the linen situation was unpleasant, so we brought some of our own towels and sheets just in case. When we arrived, we found an abundance of linens. The living/dining/kitchen area is large with amazing views from every window. The wrap around porches were fabulous and had an abundance of seating. The walk over to the beach was very close that we almost felt like we were ocean front and the views definitely made us feel like we were ocean front! The pool was an easy walk and when we didn't want to walk, we just loaded everyone up and were there in two minutes. We also enjoyed the basketball and tennis courts. The house was well stocked and very homey. A previous reviewer complained about the televisions not being flat screens. They are definitely dated, but no one in our group had a problem using them and, seriously, I can watch tv at home! This home was very reasonably priced for what you get. I highly recommend it! Also, Holden Beach is very nice and has some very nice restaurants. We went to Calabash one evening and wished we had stayed at Holden! Two favorites: Mermaids Island Grill(very good lunch) and Main street grill (great breakfast!!!)

Nice home with plenty of space for 5 adults and 5 kids

The house was nice. We had plenty of room for the ten of us. I was stocked with everything we needed and if we had a question about anything the owner was quick to respond.

Vacation Rental Holden Beach, NC

  • 5 of 5

The property was excellent and met our expectations. A few improvements need to be made. 1. New mattress on the king bed. Bed slept horrible. 2. The biggest complaints was trying to match the sheets to the right beds. The wrong sheets, tops and bottoms were mismatched in all of the bedrooms. Trying to get that straight was a mess. 3. New flat screen TVs need to be put in all the bed rooms and the 1950 TVs tossed. I am not trying to be rude with the recommendations but you asked for a review so there it is. Over all...great weekend....Good place to be with friends and family. I would recommend this property. Owner was very helpful. Listing was accurate

Owner's Response: We have changed linen services to address the mixup in bed linens. We are asking our incoming renters to rate our king bed since this is the first complain we have had on it not sleeping confortably. as to the tvs we are aware they need to be upgraded, and will address this concern by year end. we thank you for your honest review and look foward to your booking with us again.

A Wonderful Experience for Siblings Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Five sisters and two brothers-in-law gathered at this lovely home for a weekend together. The house is very spacious, but also comfortable because of the way it is laid out - four bedroowms with baths on one floor and a master suite on the upper floor. The view is spectacular from so many windows and the porches on the outside. We just had so much fun together as we reminicsed about the days of growing up on a farm during the last century. Of course, there was quite a bit of eating going on, as well, in the spacious kitchen and dining area - again with a spectacular view. There are also some nice restaurants close by, as well as grocery stores and a pharmacy, too. We especially enjoyed having brunch at the Main Street Diner just across the bridge from the house. The dinner menu on the board was very inviting, as well. Sorry we weren't able to be there for it, too. I wish we could do this again soon!!
