About The Owner

My husband and I are both from Panama City. I'm a retired RN and my husband is retired from Gulf Power. Growing up we both vacationed in this area and our children also learned all about boating and water activities in St Joe bay and the Gulf. Our house (Cape Escape) is where our family including grandchildren and grandpets (labs) meet to relax, visit and enjoy this beautiful place together.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Port St. Joe

We have traveled many places but we always come home and say we truly live in paradise. The property was bought and we moved into the house in 2001. We also have a home in Panama City along with rental homes. Last year was the 1st year we ever rented our Cape home. They were suveyors and needed a place for a few months. They loved it so much we decided to share paradise with others.

What makes this house unique

Beautiful waterfront spacious home on St Joe bay with lots of windows and large deck to enjoy spectacular sunrises or walk down our lane and enjoy the white, sandyf gulf beach. Be sure to catch the gorgeous sunsets.

Moor your boat in front of the house or tie it to the boat slip on the 500 foot dock. Boating, fishing, shelling and numerous water activities await you. Not only bay fishing but Gulf fishing is just moments away. Guides are availible. There is shopping and local resturants near by or enjoy eating your own catch of the day.

We have perserved our property in its natural setting. We have abundant wildlife and fish in the pond. There are numerous species of birds and the deck feeders atract many.

Beautiful spot in a great and very private location

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed our week at Ms. Frieda's home and our dogs had an amazing week relaxing on the huge sunny deck overlooking the gorgeous bay. The house is well set up, anytime we can have a king sized bed is a huge plus and Ms. Frieda replied instantly to any question or issue that came up over the week we stayed in her home. The lot is very private and the location is perfect, there's a walking path to the beach almost directly across the road or easier access just down the road via another public access with walkways and restrooms.

Too many snakes

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful home, dated, needs new water faucet in kitchen. Its a bit unorganized kitchen utensils scattered from kitchen to laundry all way to bathroom closets. Lots of overgrown trees and brush up close to home making it difficult to see where you walk and each day we feared getting snake bit. Had water moccasin under house and saw at least one and sometimes two per day in driveway. Love the Cape and home is nice just needs more living room seating so the whole family can spread out and relax after a day of fishing and other activities. Maybe add some citronilla torches on back deck the mosquitos, deer and horse flies were aggravating. Beautiful view of bay, nice long dock out in bay but also needs some railing along at least one side for elderly guests and children. Oven/ stove needs replaced it was dirty and broil didn't work well. Would stay again with some changes though. Need more cookware and maybe blender and tea pitcher for those families like mine that cook and eat in. Had a good stay though. We live in the mountains and are familiar with wildlife but the snake situation needs some attention.

Cape San Blas on the Bay is the way to go!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed the stay on the bay side of the Cape. This was our first visit to the area and first time staying on the bay. We rented a large pontoon boat for a few days and kept the boat at our dock. I would highly recommend it. We saw a lot of dolphins and stingrays in the bay. We enjoyed the large deck for meals, the two kayaks for morning excursions and a visit to Port St Joe. Remember to check out restaurant hours, most close early and on Sundays or Mondays, we cooked in a lot. Little Weber's donuts are a must, get there early, they run out before 9:30. The house is older, but the layout was perfect for our two families. We will return to the Cape!

Escaped to the Bay

  • 4 of 5

This is the first time we've stayed on the bay side of Cape San Blas and I'm glad we did. The location was perfect, the lot beautiful. I enjoyed hearing and seeing the mockingbirds every day. The shore birds are always a delight but it was a thrill to see a bald eagle flying by early in the morning or late in the afternoon. My husband and I enjoyed the use of the kayaks and took them out every day we were there. Putting them in was easy just as Mrs. Warren said it would be. We caught several trout and enjoyed them for dinner one night. What I enjoyed most were all the butterflies! I walked the paths off the drive and saw Monarchs, Gulf Fritillaries, Sulfphurs and many others. Didn't see dove until Saturday afternoon when two joined me on the deck like we were old friends. We fished off the pier a few times and enjoyed the view from there. There are a few boards that need to be replaced and Mrs. Warren said they planned on doing that soon. There are a few things inside the house that need attention but Mrs. Warren mentioned that they have plans to do some of that work soon. One of those is the kitchen. We do wish there had been more counter and cabinet space. We had to leave our groceries out on the counter and it didn't leave much room for prepping food. The beds were comfy and the best thing about the master BR is when the blinds are pulled up you can lie in bed and see the stars!I We love the outdoors and this place did not disappoint. The view of the bay is amazing. The natural landscaping was lovely. Mrs. Warren is the nicest owner I have had the pleasure to do business with. We hope to return in the future.

Wonderful property with tons of wildlife opportunities. Loved the dock!

  • 5 of 5

We found the rental property on very short notice after hurricane Nate cancelled our other plans. The owners were very helpful and accommodating on such short notice. The property feels very secluded and is set a hundred or so yards back from the main road. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen from the back porch and dock. In just five days we saw crabs, frogs, turtles, rays, a shark, fish, an owl, woodpeckers, and two bald eagles who apparently have a nest nearby.

The only downside is that the beach is about a 15 min walk including the length of the driveway, a brief walk down the sidewalk along the main road to a public access sand-trail walkway through the dunes. This proved difficult at times with multiple little ones. One very easy solution would be to drive down to the state park and pay a small fee ($6 per car per day) and visit the BEAUTIFUL beach there. We'll be doing this next time.
