About Martha Dyck

Steve, Terri and Evan Matthews enjoy exploring the outdoors and sharing it with friends. When we found the home in Nakusp BC we were absolutely delighted by the positive spiritual experience we gained from the hot springs and the local people! We ran a snowcat skiing operation in Idaho for 17 years and understand hospitality. Our goal is to bring our outdoor experience to the Hot Springs Escape!

Martha Dyck purchased this house in 2005

Why Martha Dyck chose Nakusp

The mountain ranges in Nakusp and Revelstoke British Columbia are the best in the world for snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding. Since there are favorite sports of ours this opportunity was a dream come true. In the summer months we enjoy mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. While the activities help us stay healthy and activie the hot springs bring healing and relaxation.

What makes this house unique

Sitting in the hot tub looking out at Mt. Odin from your hot springs pool is an experience in ralaxation that you will not forget. Osprey and Eagles fly by at eye level and dive down into the lake for a fish.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beautiful Relaxing Weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house was very clean, kitchen well stocked, view from the decks is spectacular, and beds were comfortable to sleep in. The hot tub on the deck is deeper than standard and retained its heat even after having the cover off the majority of the time. We enjoyed the board games and hope we didn't disturb our neighbors with the laughter we shared throughout our stay. Even with the close proximity to Halcyon Hot Springs - we did not visit there until after check out - as we had everything we needed at our fingertips. It was a wonderful relaxing weekend enjoyed by all - we will definitely return. Highly recommended!

perfect little get away

  • 5 of 5

This location was perfect for a moms/tots reunion trip (two moms, four kids)...has everything you need and a breathtaking view of the lake from the deck. Went when there was no one around and enjoyed the beach in Nakusp and the Halcyon Hot Springs basically to ourselves. The kids were a bit turned off of the smell of the hot tub (spring water) but played in it anyway. Note: do not put your small children on the top bunk of the bunk bed, the spaces are large and they fell out (not the property's problem, more a parenting judgement call gone wrong).

Quiet cottage with exceptional views

  • 5 of 5

Quiet, clean cottage with plenty of room. Kitchen had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. Sitting on the large decks we had such a magnificent panorama view of the lake. Everything was provided including our own Halcyon Hot Spring hot tub. Very enjoyable!

great place, but...

  • 3 of 5

Pros...The house was wonderful and the view was great! The hot tub was hot which was wonderful.

Cons...There had been a huge storm with trees down all over the area the day before we got there, so no power. We did not get a call or even a note on the door letting us know this. We had to unload all our camping gear and clean the twigs out of the hot tub. The power was restored the next day, but there has been no contact from the owners for a discount or anything.

Owner's Response: Yes, there was a very severe electrical storm with fires burning throughout the area. Ten homes were without power (including our own) on the road and every new arrival was called personally and the person on the line said that they would use some of their camping gear (preferred their lights vs candles) and it would not be a problem. A storm is out of our control therefore, within 10 years a discount has never been expected by vacationers.

Beautiful, simple, quiet

  • 5 of 5

Our 2nd time to visit here and it was better than our first. Quiet, disconnected from our cells and a million dollar view made it seem we were a million miles away from our typically busy lives. Don't forget your supplies before you come, it's long drive into town. You can always opt for a meal at the Kingfisher restaurant a half mile away at Halcyon. The beds are pretty decent and the place was nice and clean upon arrival. One of our best weeks ever.

Map

Car: recommended

The Nakusp and Revelstoke areas are most famous for snowmobiling as well as heli/cat skiing. The Halcyon area is located on the northern end of the Valley of The Hot Springs. For kids there is the Enchanted Forest with adorable elves, little houses and tree houses to explore. Sky Trek is another great activity for families. These two atractions are about 1.5 hours north. There are multiple outfitters in the area who offer summer activities as well that include heli hiking, alpine touring and white water rafting. Motorcycling in this area is very popular with the spectacular mountain views. Mountain biking as well as hiking into waterfalls or amongst the wild flowers is also a favorite pasttime of the locals. Mount Revelstoke Park offers a very inexpensive easy way to drive to the summit. If you enjoy fishing then Arrow Lake has world class lake trout primarily in the fall and winter. There are also beaches, parks and local events to enjoy. The Nakusp music festival is in July.
