About Martha Dyck
Steve, Terri and Evan Matthews enjoy exploring the outdoors and sharing it with friends. When we found the home in Nakusp BC we were absolutely delighted by the positive spiritual experience we gained from the hot springs and the local people! We ran a snowcat skiing operation in Idaho for 17 years and understand hospitality. Our goal is to bring our outdoor experience to the Hot Springs Escape!
Martha Dyck purchased this House in 2005
Why Martha Dyck chose Central Kootenay K
The mountain ranges in Nakusp and Revelstoke British Columbia are the best in the world for snowmobiling, skiing and snowboarding. Since there are favorite sports of ours this opportunity was a dream come true. In the summer months we enjoy mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. While the activities help us stay healthy and activie the hot springs bring healing and relaxation.
What makes this House unique
Soaking in the natural Hot Springs water loaded with healthy minerals and looking out at Arrow Lake and Glaciated peaks is an experience in relaxation that you will not forget! Osprey and Eagles fly by at eye level and dive down into the lake for a fish and many other outdoor activities in recreation and wildlife are abundant.

Expensive for what you get. Caretaker was extremely passive aggressive, actually just plain rude.
We ended up having more people than we initially thought stay with us. Even though we happily paid for the additional people the care taker treated us like children. She even called afterward to imply we had stolen the comments book and tell us that we had ripped a piece of paper taped on the counter . She also commented on how hard she was cleaning even though we cleaned quite well before checking out and that is surely the job she is being paid to do. Not the way I like to be treated when I spend that much per night (or ever really).
AS a property manager this is the first negative comment (about me) received in over 7 years so my apologies for coming across as rude and treating your group as children which wasn't done on purpose. I guess when there has been a payment for 6 guests and 11 guests have stayed including a dog (which is unacceptable) it makes for a tough group to clean up after, even though payment was made for pet and extra guests upon my arrival. Insurance companies would shut us down if there was a problem since the group exceeded the minimum which is shown in every agreement signed by the person in charge of the group including initialing the "no pet policy". The comment book is missing and is important as it had 8 months of very encouraging notes and guests' fantastic experiences and when it couldn't be found it was asked about and at no point was "stolen" in the vocabulary or mind of the questioning individual. The cost per guest per night including the dog averaged $37.50 per night. Just the facts.
We had a lovely time as always.
We are traveling from Calgary the 3rd year in a row, always a good service, clean house, beautiful view and the most relaxing place in the world! I strongly recommending this place! It worth the money you pay. Thank you Martha for everything!
Property needs upkeep, very run down and could use some fresh linens, furniture and paint.
We loved the tub and the springs are so healing that you have to enjoy yourself, but alittle strange that this is the most expensive of the hot springs house rentals and I think it is the most run down. The manager is great, very nice and accomodating. Love the ability to rent these houses, but we will consider the other rentals for the future.
Thank you for taking the time to write. We are glad you enjoyed the tub and take your comments very seriously. The new year is providing us with an opportunity to make some furniture ugrades. I am bringing a new couch and love seat next week and will be taking a look at a new kitchen table set. I will heed your suggestion and deliver some new linens as well! Once that is done we will post some new photos and hope you will check us out again.
I love it
Martha is the contact for this vrbo. Having a person that communicates back is perfect for me.
Very charming. As described, comfortable and relaxing!
We came for our anniversary and couldn't have chose a more romantic, private and relaxing mini vacation. The setting is stunning and the home cozy. Thank you!!
The Nakusp and Revelstoke areas are most famous for snowmobiling as well as heli/cat skiing. The Halcyon area is located on the northern end of the Valley of The Hot Springs. For kids there is the Enchanted Forest with adorable elves, little houses and tree houses to explore. Sky Trek is another great activity for families. These two atractions are about 1.5 hours north. There are multiple outfitters in the area who offer summer activities as well that include heli hiking, alpine touring and white water rafting. Motorcycling in this area is very popular with the spectacular mountain views. Mountain biking as well as hiking into waterfalls or amongst the wild flowers is also a favorite pasttime of the locals. Mount Revelstoke Park offers a very inexpensive easy way to drive to the summit. If you enjoy fishing then Arrow Lake has world class lake trout primarily in the fall and winter. There are also beaches, parks and local events to enjoy. The Nakusp music festival is in July.
