About The Owner

My wife and I have 4 wonderful young sons, 3 dogs, 2 horses, and a cat. We are a very active family and love snowboarding, hiking, fishing, and exploring all around Big Bear Lake. We love spending time at the cabin and we know your experience will be the same!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2010

Why The Owner chose Big Bear

We love to get away from 'big city life' and escape to the mountains. Big Bear Lake is so close to all of the cities of Southern California that it is the perfect getaway. You feel like you are in the high Sierras, but it is a short drive to get here. The cabin is in the perfect location close to the lake, shopping and skiing.

What makes this cabin unique

Whispering Pines Lodge is in the perfect location. You can walk to Holloway's Marina and rent a boat to do some trout fishing, or rent a kayak to explore the serene lake in the morning or evening. You can also learn to wakeboard at their new cable park! Shopping at the Village is only a couple minutes away, and you can be on the slopes in minutes! Or just relax on the deck and listen to the wind whisper through the pine trees.

First Big Bear Trip

  • 4 of 5

A few friends and my girlfriend wanted to go to Big Bear and rent a cabin. I came across Darin's cabin, and it seemed to be perfect as far as look, number of rooms, and proximity to the slopes/lakes/restaurants. I contacted Darin with my interest in his cabin, and he was very nice and prompt in responding. The cabin itself was very nice. It is located very close to all the major hotspots and was not very difficult to find. From the outside, it looked like a cabin from a movie! Inside the cabin was very modern, but still had its cabin feel and touches. All appliances, lights, and heating worked as expected. Only a few minor things: 1. the master bedroom shower door was stuck and seemed to take too much force to open, and in fear of breaking it, we opted to share the other shower 2. The ceiling fan light in the living room was not functioning, which Darin stated to us before arriving 3. Bunk beds were very squeaky, so one of our friends decided to sleep on the couch. Besides those minor things, the cabin was perfect. We will definitely be staying there again! Thank you Darin!

Thanksgiving in Big Bear 2015

  • 5 of 5

First Thanksgiving away from home, was not disappointed. Cabin style was rustic on the outside and modern on the inside with plenty of room for all. Perfect location, quiet if you desire and close enough to walk to the Village for the shoppers. Loved having all the comforts of home, nice dishes, cookware, ice maker, dishwasher, washer & dryer and most of all Central Heating, in addition to a lovely fireplace. We look forward to spending more time here, many blessings to all who visit and stay at this this warm home. Stefan, Karen & family

Perfect Weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We are very picky when it comes to weekend rentals. This house was a total joy. It was spacious, clean, close to everything, cozy, in a friendly neighborhood, and Darin (owner) was quick to respond when booking and checking out.

Our kids have asked if we can return to Big Bear at "this house" when the snow starts to fall.

......bring bird food! There were a dozen or so birds in and around the front patio eating the bread and seeds we brought. Gorgeous Blue Jays and several others.

Cozy and Comfy :)

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased the minute we pulled up to the cabin and opened the door. It was soooo inviting, cozy, well appointed, and has EVERYTHING you need. The location is great, in a quiet family-oriented neighborhood, with pines all around. Just breathtaking! The owner Darin was wonderful to deal with, very responsive and available. The owners take pride in their home and it shows throughout. I love the attention to detail and how organized everything is. So easy to find what you need. It definitly feels like a home away from home! Thank you Darin and Family for sharing your place with us. It is a very special cabin and you are very lucky to have found such a little piece of heaven...We cannot wait to come back!! We have sent pictures to our friends/family to spread the word!! We will be back soon :)) The Romero Family

Great getaway cabin!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time staying at this beautiful cabin, it was very peaceful and had everything you could possibly need, and just far enough away from all the noise and traffic but still so close to everything, I would definitely come up and stay here again, we hated to leave to begin with.
