Please see our web page about Casa Chan and Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Mexico: THE LINK IS BELOW

One of the VERY FEW Single Family Residences in all of Guanajuato Centro that is completely free standing and does not share any common house walls.

Completely remodeled home in Centro area of Guanajuato. Professionally locally managed to assure an enjoyable GTO experience. Only a 30 minute taxi ride from the Leon International Airport (BJX). The home is situated partially up the hillside a comfortable walk from all GTO has to offer. Spectacular views of the mountains as well as the town. The home is modern with classic Mexican charm. It has 2 spacious bedrooms and 2 baths and an attached, but private, efficiency studio (at an additional expense and is never rented alone without the main house). Master bedroom has king size bed, bath with tub, large living area and 2 private balconies (one smaller and one very large) that offer spectacular views. The second bedroom has a double bed in a boveda ceilinged room, sliding doors that lead out to a beautiful patio and hall bath with shower. Kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, pots/pans, dishes, oven/stove, microwave, full size refrigerator, & coffee pot. Studio apartment can be rented for an additional fee. It has a queen bed, bath w/ shower and furnished kitchen. The roof top patio offers a great place to soak in the sun, enjoy the awe inspiring views and associated changing colors of the day/night and simply just relax the day away

GTO has many things to offer a visitor of the city: history, cultural events, theaters, museums, monuments, markets/shopping, language schools, restaurants, cafes, bars and numerous outdoor sports options.

It is only a 5 minute walk to the Embajadores area with its market and cafes and just a bit further to the 'La Presa de la Olla'-dam which has a nice area for dinning at one end and boats to rent and ducks to feed....a very popular locals destination.

A comfortable 12 minute walk down to the Union Jardin, Teatro Jaurez, University of Guanajuato, language schools, and a great number of cafes, restaurants and bars.

Just outside the city in Marfil is a sports complex with swimming, volleyball, soccer ect. Nearby excursions include; San Miguel, Dolores Hidalgo & Leon. There are several spas in the city itself, but one of our favorites is about an hour outside the city, 'La Gruta' Thermal Springs and Spa. It offers 3 outdoor thermal pools ranging from warm to hot in temperature. The grounds offer areas to sit in the sun and relax, a restaurant, lockers and showers. They also offer massages and facials.

About Tracey

We are a professional long married couple that have traveled MX extensively. We have 3 children that grew up spending much time in this part of Mexico. We have lived full time in Mexico and now live half time. We understand how precious and limited discretionary time is and as such, we do everything in our power to assure your experience with our home is pure enjoyment from initial inquiry through return of security deposit. Our professional property manager is one of the greatest value added benefits of this rental property....

Tracey purchased this house in 2008

Why Tracey chose Zona Centro

We love Mexico, its' people and the associated culture. Guanajuato is the capital of the state and is one of the oldest and safest cities in Latin America and is recognized as one of the principle cultural centers of Mexico and Latin America . The city offers events and attractions year time always runs out prior to seeing and enjoying all of the possibilities. GTO has a wonderful climate year round. We enjoy the pedestrian aspect of the city. Unlike many areas of Mexico, GTO is definitely still 'real Mexico' with friendly outgoing residents.

We purchased the home, and spent thousands of hours (in addition to the many professionals we engaged) upgrading and remodeling every aspect of the home to make it a unique and extremely comfortable place to live and relax. When we can not be present, we employ a attentive property manager to assure all is how it should arriving you to the home and answering all of your questions and providing helpful suggestions.

What makes this house unique

This home is one of the VERY FEW homes in the Centro area that is truely a standalone home that does NOT share any common walls with a neighbor. Thoughtfully redesigned and upgraded to assure comfort and relaxation.

We love to sit in the Union Jardin and people watch, going out to dine at the various restaurants, the La Gruta spa, shopping the markets, jogging around the La Presa and just relaxing /reading at our home. Guaranteed to lower your blood pressure just by sitting on one of the 5 patios and enjoying the view or reading a book.

Perfect location and comfy quarters for a long stay!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed ten weeks of fun and Spanish study in Guanajuato, thanks largely to having a spacious house to come home to. No car needed. Markets and services very close by. Highly recommend it for a special weekend or extended stay.

Great last minute stay!

  • 5 of 5

Alejandro went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed at the house and in the city. The home was comfortable and has a beautiful view. I would not recommend it for older folks or handicap folks as there are many (75 exactly) steps to get to the home. Otherwise most anyone would enjoy their stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your 5 Star review. We are appreciative that you chose or home away from home for your Guanajuato visit and are delighted we were able fulfill your last minute reservation to include the use of the studio. We also appreciate your review pointing out that we, and our bi-lingual local property manager, need to do a better job of assuring our guests know of the shortest and, BY FAR, fewest step route to get to our home (2/3 fewer steps). As so much of the town's charm is associated with the winding small pedestrian only streets, we believe the best solution is to include a map showing the numerous routes to our home. We hope to have you as a guest again soon. Warmest regards

Beautiful home in fantastic location!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a 6-week visit to Guanajuato during which we stayed in this lovely home. Let me just start by saying the views of colorful Guanajuato from the patios are incredible! Guanajuato has been called the most beautiful city in Mexico (no disagreement there!) and this home is designed to take full advantage of soaking in the beauty. We enjoyed many sunsets on the roof patio with a bottle of wine. The master bedroom and the patio just outside have equally stunning views of the city. When we weren't savoring the views we were out enjoying the charms of the city. The house is conveniently located just outside the historic center of the city and is in easy walking distance from all the main sites. The owners of this home do not live full-time in Guanajuato, but this is not a problem because the property manager they have hired is outstanding! He was responsive to our requests and questions about the house and the city. He even provided transportation to and from the airport and could be hired to give tours of sites in the area surrounding Guanajuato. In summary, we absolutely loved our time in Guanajuato and this home was no small part of our enjoyment!

Casa Tranquila

  • 5 of 5

My first trip to Guanajuato Mexico. Such a gorgeous place to visit. We can't wait to visit again. My adult daughter and I really enjoyed the house and it's location near the "Centro". The home is very comfortable and is very user friendly and in a safe location. Beds were comfortable, showers had good water pressure and good hot water, kitchen had good assortment of cooking pots and pans, nice dining area. Fresh fruits and vegetables in and around Embajadora Park at street level. Small stores close by for little things with easy access bigger supermarket close to the big Hidalgo Market south of the "centro". Only drawback that is hard to overcome in a mountain city is the stairway up to the house. Lowlanders such as myself and people with lung issues should be aware of the 6500 foot elevation. It took a few days to get acclimated to the elevation and the steepness of the streets and "callejones". There are easier routes up to the house and after discovering them it made the walk to "el Centro" and back at the end of the day somewhat easier. Alejandro the property manager was great in helping us enjoy our time there. He was very responsive in addressing issues,we had very few, and was a wealth of local information and customs and knew first hand about the attractions that are available to see. He also speaks English well. I will for sure tell friends of this home and encourage them to visit the "Italian mountain city in Mexico". Sooo.... beautiful. Hasta la proxima!

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

I apologize for the late review; thank you for the reminder. We (3 of us) learned of GTO through a mutual friend who spent several months at one of the language schools. We just love this city and the people who live here. The rental was exactly as promised and we really enjoyed the central location. We did have one minor issue and we greatly appreciated how the property manager resolved it near real time. We hope to be back next year and Casa Chan will be our first choice!

Travel Lust

Wife, husband, sister and two teenagers stayed for a week. We have stayed in several homes in Guanajuato over the past several years, this will be our go to place now. Unlike many of the older homes in this colonial town that are dark, moist and mildewed this home is light, bright and air with it's open floor plan. We also enjoyed the many patio areas to relax and watch the day go by. The owner could not have been more responsive in setting up our arrival and answer our questions. Like wise the property manager was very helpful and shared his knowledge of the area. We hope to return again soon

Some simply consider Guanajuato to be the most beautiful authentic colonial city in all of Mexico. Tremendous history, performance arts, and 'finds' around near every corner. Most that visit once, return year after year.
