We loved it!
Great stay at Big White!
The condo had all amenities. The kitchen was fully stocked with cook pots spices and such. I didn’t need to bring the extras. The unit was great for 2 families. Comfy and cozy.
Great location ski in and out. Had a great time.
Overall a good experience with some comments. Not enough eating utensils for 7, let alone 8. 1 baseboard heater did not work at all. That said , the gas fireplace (still with dirty doors) worked well. The private hot tub was lovely. Need more wall hooks to hang clothing. The unit was clean and worked well for our group of 5 adults and 2 toddlers. Adequately equipped with bedding and towels. Gorgeous view of the mountains. Would we go back -yes.
So bad it was comical
We stayed here for 5 days over New Years and let me start by saying that Big White is a magical place. We come up every winter and the whole family LOVES it! We had a great time inspite of the accommodations.
It began upon arrival. After a 9 hour scary drive across the Coquihalla, we arrived only to discover the owner had given us the wrong code to open the doors. So there we were stuck outside in the dark and freezing cold with only 6% battery power trying to figure out how to get in. Once we did, again the information for the WIFI was not correct in the check in guide, so I had to contact the owner again.
Then there is the bed. The springs in the master bedroom are so worn that with a heavier husband, I was literally sleeping sideways. First night I slept in the kid's bed as I was so uncomfortable. 2nd bedroom the mattress has springs digging into your back, so don't expect that to be any better.
Speaking of sleep, on night 3 the lady above us obviously got the stomach flu and spent three hours puking. Their toilet is apparently right above the master bedroom and I got to listen to the details for hours as I struggled to sleep thru it.
Heating....the unit is controlled with very finicky baseboard heaters. Our first night was freezing as we couldn't get them working. The owner had someone come in the next day to turn them on. For the next three days it was sooo hot in there we started opening windows. No matter what we did, we couldn't get the heaters turned back off. It wasn't until day 5 they sent a tech back in who determined one was broken and had to disconnect it to get it to stop heating at 100%.
Parking... for a unit that sleeps 8, be aware you only get one allocated parking spot and the overflow is many blocks away. This wasn't a problem the first few days as the person above us didn't seem to have a vehicle. But then on day 4 someone came and blocked in both of our vehicles and we almost missed our kid's ski lessons because of it.
Also, I didn't realize until we got there that there's no proper dining table. There is a small bar top table you can drag over to the island to make do. But again for a place that sleeps 8 you think they'd have 8 stools (nope). That's my fault for not noticing during the booking.
I should note that during all this, the owner stopped returning my calls /messages. Completely unprofessional.
We will for sure be back to Big White, just not in this unit.
Was nice but....
This is a nice place on first appearance. Not near the Village at all. The kitchen utensils are in need of serious updating. We found the place not overly clean. Clump of hair in corner of bathroom by the tub. Carpet in livingroom had not been vacuumed. Had to ask neighbours 4 times in 4 days to move their car as we were blocked in or out. Walls very thin. We could hear the upstair unit very clearly - slamming doors and walking around. Could not see the fire in the gas fireplace as the glass was so dirty. Beds were comfortable. It says sleeps 8 - but there is no where for 8 people to sit at a table together. We all crowded around the bar - very uncomfortable. The owners were nice to deal with. But, for the price, we wish we would have chosen differently.
Comfortable, great location!!
Our family of 6 (kids aged 23, 21, 18 and 12) spent 5 nights in this home. The location was fabulous, 2 minute walk to the ski run and we skied back almost right to the driveway. The home was spacious with plenty of sleeping space, a lovely kitchen stocked with spices, tin foil, paper towels, tea and coffee. The hot tub was hot (not lukewarm) and ready to go! We used the BBQ and it worked perfectly. We walked to the village a few times which took about 10 minutes. The owner was readily available for a quick request we had in the middle of our stay. A great home that lives up to what we expected.
