Why Julia chose Northern Coast

This home has been in our family for over 20 years - it was a great escape from the busy lives we have in Portland. It gave our family the time to slow things down and reconnect with each other, rejuvenate from the fresh sea air, a place to relax and hand out!

Geat house very close to the ocean. We absolutely loved our stay.

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time, super cute perfect little upstairs area for my 2 teenage boys. Then perfect trundle bed for my little nieces. The house fit our family very well. The back yard was a great size for our 2 pups, they chased the seaguls around. I recommend this home to anyone who wants to enjoy seaside.

The house was great well kept and clean.Great location minutes from the beach. Just the parking was limited hard to manuver in the driveway and the street was narrow as well. But none the less me and my family had a great stay.

Great Beach Stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a group of coworkers in town and opted to stay in a house instead of hotel rooms. It was a cute, old house very close to the beach and within walking distance to the downtown area. Everything was neat and clean and there were plenty of beds and sleeping spaces for 7 of us. I would love to stay here again in the future!

Casual beach house in prime location

  • 4 of 5

This house is in a prime location, a block walk to the beach. It is spacious and sleeps 12 comfortably. It is definitely a "beach house" with a casual setting. There are two main areas in the house to gather, both with TVs and tables. Three bathrooms and showers, which is nice. There is also a space downstairs, which is more modern and up to date with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and nice kitchen; however, the ceilings are very low. My sons are 6'2 and they had to bend their heads to fit so anybody taller than 6'0 should not rent that portion.

As with most beach rentals, the pots and pans, knives, etc aren't the best so if you plan to cook I recommend bringing your own pans and knives. However, we had everything we needed. Large deck surrounds back and side of house.

The owner does a nice job of making sure you have what you need for the stay. We will be renting it again next year!

Big comfortable house, not so comfortable beds

  • 3 of 5

We had a good stay and the house is a decent size and is comfortable. There is plenty of space and bathrooms so good for large families. You do have to go up a full flight of stairs to get to the house though so keep that in mind.

The location is excellent! A few things didn't go well:

- The beds are clearly old and are not very comfortable. I don't think we'll re-rent unless they get new mattresses so they don't squeak every time you move and are more comfortable

- The wireless didn't work (not a big deal)

- The ceilings in the lower unit that you can rent for overflow are about 5'10" so if you're tall, it's not the best.

Great location! Big house! Dirty!

  • 1 of 5

This house is in a perfect location, close to town, the prom and the beach. And it's big and had plenty of beds for our large group. That's where the pros ended for us!

This house is in SERIOUS need of a deep and thorough cleaning! I understand and appreciate that it is an "old beach house", quirky and has character. I LOVE these kind of houses. However, basic cleaning and sanitation is COMPLETELY lacking. Very few surfaces were even dusted. Some decor had cobwebs on them. Visible crumbs, M&M's and more under couch in living room. Stairs had not been vacuumed. Food crumbs on kitchen cutting board. Coagulated grease left in pot that was put back in cupboard. Inside drawers and cupboards in kitchen look like they haven't been cleaned in a VERY long time. Some utensils had food residue on them. Oven also hasn't been cleaned and was simply GROSS! Electrical outlet in kitchen comes completely out of the wall. There was a review from August 2013 that stated the same thing of said outlet. Electric coffee maker had no lid and grounds were still in basket. Accent pillows on furniture are soiled and stained. We bought tablecloths to use on the kitchen table because it was tacky/sticky. I never even addressed the outside, as there appears to be no care for it either. The table on the deck was so wobbly, we were afraid it would collapse.

I supplied photos of some of the issues and requested my cleaning deposit back. A fraction of the amount was returned. I was told that everything gets deep cleaned in the house in the spring and that they have had some previous "rough" guests that didn't take care of the house. That really isn't my concern when I have rented a place and paid a cleaning deposit with the anticipation that we would have a clean house. I could NEVER rent a house to anyone in the dirty condition this one was in and require a cleaning deposit!!!

Communication also is less than desirable. Not sure how responses can be missed when they go through the website. Or when voicemails are left and call not returned. I had to ask for check-in instructions the day before our trip.

I will definitely put more weight on the negative reviews when renting a house going forward.
