This neighborhood is a mixture of seasonal rental and permanent residents. Many of the residents in this neighborhood are 2nd and 3rd generation and this is a lifestyle they choose year round! It is a friendly neighborhood, so be sure to say hello!
Believe it or not, the 'Ice Cream Man' (she is actually a women) tours the entire neighborhood, inlcuding the beach, usually two times a day. Be sure to have a couple dollars with you when your at the beach so you can grab a treat! (Warning: the distant music from the ice cream truck has been know to cause instant hysteria in small children!)
There is only one neighbor abutting this cottage, it is not the owner's primary residence and it does not rent out seasonally. Across the street is protected wetlands and a bird sanctuary. (in July, you can pick wild blackberries roadside) In short, you will have a good amount of privacy when you want it.
Paul bought this cottage in 2007 and enjoyed the 'bachelor beach life' up until early 2012 when he met Melissa. They have been inseparable ever since! Seflishly, we kept this location, it's neighbors and all it has to offer, to ourselves up until this year……..
Paul & Melissa purchased this cottage in 2007
This newly renovated property offers a quiet space and yard to relax, all within a short walk to the beach. To enhance your Cape Cod experience, we have added a two person outdoor shower to the property this season.
Our cottage abuts one 'close' neighbor. The owner not live there year round and it does not rent commercially. The corner lot offer three sides of privacy, including a deck patio area for your BBQ's and evenings relaxing outdoors and enjoying the summer breezes.
Our stay was wonderful..the cottage was as cute as can be and in a great location...The only thing I would suggest is some better bedding...other than that it was perfect!!!
Wonderful place to stay with our young grandkids and daughter. We enjoyed walking to the beach 2 or 3 times a day to see what low tide creatures were around to explore. Nice location enabling us to explore the Cape. Loved having a washer/dryer and beach toys for the kids. It was perfect and the neighbors were nice to chat with.
The cottage is very cute, located in a great neighborhood near the local college! It was perfect for our family !
We quite enjoyed our stay in Onset! The property was very clean and as described. We would recommend this property and use it again should we visit the region. The town of Onset is quite charming and in addition to the private beach close to the property it has a bigger beach in town that was not very crowded where you can rent kayaks and paddle boards to explore the bay. We dined at Stash's were the shrimp and scallop kabobs where divine. The Stonebridge grill also had delicious fried calamari and crab cakes, the steak was ok. Quahog Republic is a great place to enjoy a drink and chat with the locals while taking a break from the sun. Of course a visit at Nana's for ice cream is a must.
We also enjoyed visiting Plymouth, Falmouth, Truro for surfing lessons and Provincetown. If you do intend on visiting the Cape allow additional time for travel as there is a lot of traffic: go very early in the morning or late in the day and avoid the weekend rush.
All in all we had a great time and was quite pleased with our rental!
This darling little Onset cottage was the perfect home base for my 3 kids (aged 16 to 22), one adult friend (aged 27) and I to call home during our vacation. The five of us were comfortable and loved so many things about the cottage. Everyone agreed the outdoor shower was the best thing. The bikes were great. The beds were comfortable. The location was fantastic! We spent many days just being together, playing games at the table and enjoying the peaceful setting. We also spent many days dashing down to tourist locations: New York, Newport, Boston and the Cape, of course. We were fortunate to meet Paul, the owner, who was a very kind and caring person. The ladies that did the weekly housekeeping were amazing and actual lifesavers when I unexpectedly got stuck in traffic on our check out day! They showed genuine concern for my teenagers and were understanding and flexible. I would highly recommend this cottage for any family that wants a home away from home as they enjoy Onset and the surrounding areas.
there is a washer & dryer in the unit. Public Golf courses abound! Water park, mini golf and go cart park less than 2 miles away!
