We enjoyed the stay there very much. Five families lived there comfortably due to many rooms and beds available.
Kitchen had everything available for cooking. We enjoyed cooking and eating. What three days there eating, talking, laughing and enjoying together.
We also liked the camp fire with plenty fire wood available. Outside was large enough for all type of sports and gathering.
Thank the owner!
We were looking for a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle to spend some time together and visit family in the area. This looked perfect online and it was ! Plenty of room, great decor and Mary made us feel like part of her family. We'll book here again...soon.
We had a wonderful weekend getaway stay at this beautiful lodge. The rooms were very clean and we loved the privacy and quietness of the surrounding woods. We enjoyed sitting on the porch drinking wine and saw lots of wildlife. We will definitely stay again next time we are looking to come to this area!
Friends and family in my party enjoyed indoor cooking, outdoor grilling, and lots of board games (provided on site) in this beautiful and spacious rural property. The owner is genuinely invested in the positive experiences of her guests and we appreciated her helpful and timely communication from the time of reservation to the time of our departure. We had considered taking the kids in our party to the park down the street (5 minute drive, but not walkable) because we drove by it and the pool/rides looked great, but we were ultimately so happy to relax in and enjoy one another's company in the home that we went without the park. There's a dollar store just a few minutes away, and a Walmart and Giant Eagle nearby too. Guests are sure to enjoy their stay. Highly recommended!
Our group of 12 was celebrating a 50 yr nursing school reunion. Mary (owner) was great at handling our questions and making our stay pleasant both before and during our visit. The property is simply beautiful - set back in the woods. away from the sights and sounds of all but nature - even though it is only minutes from town, if you need anything at all! I cannot speak for anyone who might reserve only one room or two. But for a large group it was perfect to spread out, relax and not bother anyone, as with a normal hotel or B+B! This IS a house in the woods that is not lived in on a daily basis. Therefore, be aware that there MAY be the occasional critter or spider! (All normal!) And there is the minor annoyance of dampness and some mildew smell, especially in the lower level. Overall the house was very clean and well-kept. It's not new or "fancy", but was quaint and decorated, in every nook and cranny, with items in line with the owner's taste. We enjoyed checking everything out! It was perfect for our group and several of our party said they wished we could come back again. Thanks, Mary!
I was so looking forward to a "girlfriends getaway"special in October at the Lodge at Fair Oaks. It had been a stressful, exhausting year for me and I needed to get away for a couple days. Then a family emergency came up and I was forced to cancel my reservation short of the 2-week limit. However, the owner, Mary Fotheringham, was gracious enough to refund half of the total amount I had paid. This meant a lot to my husband and I and spoke volumes for the attitude of the owners. It showed us they had a heart and cared for the welfare of their customers. Also, it fostered good will and left us with a desire to schedule with them again one day. perhaps we can! the Lodge looks like a beautiful place in which to relax and leave one's worries behind.
